I had to watch this twice. First time I was focused on Josh’s feet and zoned out of the entire conversation.

We haven't even gotten into the podcast really yet or any type of conversation and I'm already loving it and think it's by far the best episode you guys have released. I wish that you were able to have Brianna and James in more of your videos and everything. Like I said in my last comment on the other video if they were closer like Tim is to you. Oh man, it'd be one of the best things on UA-cam or any other social media platform

Listening to you talk about sound hurts my entire body 😂. This is not unique to you though. It's every time I hear hunters talking about sound. Truth is sound is not something that I have seen studied and documented well with regards to bows or even hunting in general. Not that it has to be though tbh. Hundreds of years of anecdotal evidence can get you in the ballpark. Tons of stuff to consider that nobody talks about. First to consider is the db but that's just the shaved ice off the tip of the iceberg. Decibels are calculated differently depending on how it is measured i.e. weighted. Most common are A weighting and C weighting. Both have their uses. I would argue neither is appropriate for this application though and therefore manufacturer specs don't mean diddly squat on this. If we are talking how sound is applicable to hunting then it is important to understand which frequencies your prey is most sensitive to and what that curve looks like. To my knowledge it is not the same as the Fletcher Munson curve that humans have been measured at. Then it's also important to know at what distances those key "spook" frequencies lose energy to fall below "spook db thresholds". All of that science is far more valuable to a bow manufacturer than it is a hunter though until their is aftermarket accessories that attack those specific attributes or bow manufacturers start addressing this directly. Why do I say this? Because anecdotal evidence tends to point towards 70 yards being the distance at which you are more likely to have an animal stand still and take the hit. I've seen this magic distance talked about repeatedly going back more than a decade in forum posts. That could indicate that despite nominal decreases sound that a bow produces over the years that differences have yet to make an actual real-world difference. Correlation doesn't necessarily equal causation though, because the animal may hear that sound nearly as well at 60 yards and jump/duck but the reduction in volume from that extra 10 yards might play into a more instinctual freeze and assess the situation action rather than immediate threat which requires them to boogie off. Food for thought.
