dharmendra was great fan of meena kumari .they were signed together for the first time for the film purnima but this was not their first release.their first release was main bhi ladki hoon .
meena kumari started liking dharmendra from the very first day .she helped him in his acting career .meena kumari used to ask her producers to cast dharmendra in their movies .
meena kumari also helped dharmendra to become better actor ..she used to teach him how to say a dialogue.
in those days meena started drinking a little more but dharmendra always tried to stop her from drinking .
they worked together in chandan ka palna ,majhli didi,baharon ki manzil also .
their big hit was phool aur pathar which made dharmendra star .their other big hit was kaajal but in that film meena kumari was not playing opposite dharmendra .she was almost his sister .
after returning from kaajal premier at delhi airport dharmendra created a scene .
