This series has been an incredible service to PA's history. To think that these ruins have been sitting there, unused and mostly forgotten for 150 years. I hope that your videos will bring increased interest and the preservation of these works.....and I also hope that you get some credit for that.

How fantastic was that. You found it. Awful stuff you had to trudge thru. Those foundations were a great treat. There was some lovely birdsong too. Thanks for taking me along. Please take care

I am so happy for you. If you want something bad enough, nothing should stop you from getting it. I bet a shower felt heavenly after that. Safe travels as always ❤❤❤❤

I was the one who originally told you that the lock was further south but I got my directions crossed up. I was confused about where you went into the woods on your first attempt and which direction you went. I lived in Hummelstown and I’ve explored all around the Swatty and the remnants of the canal in that area. I’m glad you found it though!

I liked it when you used to hide channel stickers and coffee mugs. Did you just get bored with it? You did accomplish getting people to get off their duffs and go hiking, looking for a hidden treasure! 😊Thank You, Cliff. I also love the videos you record with the mother and daughter on a nice peaceful hike.❤

Cliff, after you complete the Union Canal series, which I enjoyed, any chance of doing the Schuylkill Navigation Company since you're a Berks county guy! I live in Boston but spent the first eighteen years of my life growing up in Maidencreek Township until I joined the Navy and ended up in Boston in 1970 after returning from Vietnam. I really enjoy your channel. I used to spent a lot of time in my youth in the Port Clinton area hunting behind the Blue Mountain Academy and state game lands. Also jumping off the rock into the Schuylkill in Hamburg.

I'm surprised after leaving the armed services you could afford to live in a state with such high taxes. Did you move in with a wife who had a good job? Or did you move in with family? There's no way a sailor even in 1970 could afford to buy a house in Boston. Did you come from a wealthy family and have a big savings before you joined the navy? You remind me of the characters in Seinfeld and friends I could never understand how kramer could afford to live in New York when he never had a job and could never understand how the characters in friends had such massive apartments when the majority of them all had part time jobs.

@@Wearespurstv I was discharged in September 1972. I married my girlfriend who I met at the enlisted men's club (EM Club,) who was a student nurse in June of 72. I was stationed at the US Naval Hospital Chelsea, Massachusetts. She graudated that year and got a job at one of the local hospitals. I got the GI bill and went to Northeastern University. We had a small apartment in Revere, Mass. I graduated in September of 1976 with a degree in Medical Imaging, Ultrasound and Radiology. I got my first job starting up the Ultrasound Department in one of the local Hospitals. Between our two salaries we manged to save 10k and put down our down payment on our house in Peabody, MA that cost $34,000 in 1976, and still live there after putting on a 2nd floor addition turning it into a Colonial from a ranch. We had two children, boy and girl and now have four grandchildren ages 6-15. I became a partner in a medical imaging company along with 15 physicians and myself. I was the President and we performed OB/GYN ultrasounds along with Breast Mammography. We sold the business to one of the local area hospitals. We both retired in 2016. Still very physically active mountain biking, hiking etc. My younger sister still lives just outside of Kutztown and we'll be traveling down to visit in October. I hope that answers any more doubts you have concerning why I chose to say. Taxes were higher but so were salaries.
