  • There is a homeless crisis in Glasgow.
    To be honest it is across much of the UK.
    My hope is that my documentaries raise awareness for the struggles people have to go through, so that we can try and solve the crisis. I also want to spread compassion. I think sometimes there isn't enough compassion in the world.
    That being said i think the people of Glasgow seemed both very kind and very friendly.

    I bought a walking stick and gave it to a homeless man. As quick as a flash he ran into the shop l came out of and told a member of staff it was broken and he asked for his money back. Happy days here again! Is his words to the public.

    If you build up rent arrears because of being in prison, you're always going to end up evicted. Universal Credit will not pay rent for a house not being lived in. So that's 100% on him. Council should have accommodation for him coming out though.

    • @OperationAndrewDocumentaries
      @OperationAndrewDocumentaries  2 дні тому

      I'm not sure that it's a good system where prison puts you essentially into debt that is hard to repay (because you weren't working but your rent owed keeps rising). A difficult one though. If it's a housing association you would think they would be able to make am agreement to terminate the contract.. although he still probably has the problem of where to put all of his stuff

      That was my first and only thought 🤔 you can go into charities get food wash clothes shower for free. But you know what the government have a lot to answer for😢😢. There is housing in Glasgow but it's not going to people from Glasgow on the streets it's going to people from other countries. I'm not racist in any way shape or form but we have to look after the people that are from here first.

    Glasgow changed since lockdown the 4 corners is cross 4 way McDonald's pizza hut . To kfc then the other corner is a Chinese just near the bridge central station where alot of the homeless sleep and theres allsorts going on . But going into Glasgow that very area for 30yr nothings happened to me . One of my friends was hit with a pole outside a night club but thats all in 30yr. But if your looking to get drugs then your putting yourself in danger

      @OperationAndrewDocumentaries good video btw. Glasgow does have a severe homeless issue, however all is not as it seems. I was homeless (technically) but in a suburb of Glasgow. I was given temp furnished accom then council house. Was I just lucky?
      Also, you were a bit misinformed about Homeless Project Scotland. A few years ago they sat on over £330K in bank while annual expenditure was just £72K.
      Currently sat on change from half a million but they'd rather play politics with the City Council than lease the premises they are seeking. I make my donations to homeless people directly on the street having walked their journey. Homelessness is a political issue, but it feckin shouldn't be. It should simply be something society refuses to accept.
