    Ive been using a Stryd for the last few months, and really enjoy the trainingplans. Easy tempo is a few beats off my MAF and in the low-mid of my zone 2. The plans have lots of strides and intervals at 5 and 10k pace. Best of both worlds.

    That was great to watch Dave. My take away was that by focusing almost exclusively on MAF you can lose your confidence to run a fast tempo style workout - just listen to your comments in the first few miles. You were doubting yourself! BUT, you seemed to get stronger as the run progressed and look how quickly you recovered afterwards Awesome stuff! I agree, you are in a great place at the moment: happy, healthy and fit😃😃

      Hey David thanks so much, I always love seeing your comments here 👍😊🇬🇧. Yeah it’s amazing how as the run progressed my mindset started to shift as well. I hope all is well with you my friend

    I can relate very much to your doubts before getting started.

    Sometimes the universe gently nudges us to take the fork in the trail….other times it hits us with a 2 x 4 “Heed one’s gut instinct”, it generally doesn’t let us down 😎

    I've been sprinting 8-10 seconds each km on my MAF runs for speedwork...it's fun! I've discovered a UA-camr I really like for weight loss: Miche, PhD.

    Well Done! I think all of us can relate to the pre-run procrastinations (and slight dread at the prospect!) and the post run exhilaration of having completed what you set out to achieve!

    Nice work Dave, keep it up. Never doubt yourself mate. How long should you build your MAF base before you do one of these timed runs?

      @ThePlantPoweredRunner  7 місяців тому +1

      Thanks. It really depends on the runner. I would say give it 3 months and see what happens.

      @@ThePlantPoweredRunner Spring will be a much better and nicer time for a time trial, I'm sure you will be quicker then. I've had a lot of injury problems since I did the 50k Ultra last October. The issue was I picked up an injury 3 weeks before the Ultra (not when running), then pushed myself to do the Ultra when I'd lost a lot of fitness and muscle conditioning. I took December off, then did a few runs in January, but my HR was going sky high, even though I felt OK. So today I decided to reset and stick to Z2. It was strange running so slowly again, and I had to do some walking to keep in Z2. But that's fine; this approach worked for me last year, so I know it will again. I'm planning another 50k for late September, so plenty of time to build my base fitness back. An update on my son, who I've mentioned before as he hated running until I told him about MAF, did his first half marathon yesterday and clocked 1hr 28mins! And he doesn't do speedwork, he likes Z2 running. Running slow can help you run fast! London marathon next, and he's wondering about a sub 3hr!!

    Hey Dave. There is a tik too video is away from Hermes the cynic. This guy was talking about using kettle bell swing ladder technique to improve breathing for runners and improve ones use of expletives. May I suggest this as a research topic for you.

    can we get benefit with only running in zone 1 instead of maffetone method,
    only zone 1

    • @ThePlantPoweredRunner
      @ThePlantPoweredRunner  7 місяців тому +1

      If all you can do is zone 1 then start there. You will see benefits in time then you can slowly move up to zone 2

    Running on slush you probably also lost about 10% of your traction, you most likely ran ,a 4:45 corrected for dry road and loose the camera, that adds a lot of fatigue. I will not even carry a water bottle. Waist belt only.
