I love the fact that she is showcasing dance as a true art form. It's not just a cliche contemporary piece it's more of a naked expression of human emotion and existence. Thank you for that it really spoke to my individual human soul.
There is something so transcendental about this piece. I have not been so captivated by a dancer since Katee Shean way back on season 4. Everything about this is beautiful, tragic, heartwarming, and heartbreaking. So original, not a single combination seemed rehearsed or copied. In my opinion, this is the absolute best audtion I have seen yet on the show, period.
so this is the third year straight that I come back to this video, which has rendered 99.9% of every audition clip ever since so pedestrian in comparison. Truly a piece of art, showed through movement that is sutil yet mesmerizing, while still showcasing glimpses of impressive technique, but not relying heavily on a series of tricks... let alone the choice of music and the restrained emotion and expression that fit effortlessly. Silver lining of not having her on the show was that this dance was so compelling that I didn't need the expectation of her skills put to better use by a professional choreographer in lieu of a novice self-choreographed audition. Hope to see more of her one day...
And just thought this reminded me of the music issue of The New York Times Magazine "Songs that Capture Our Moment", as this would be a piece of art that to me captures what I would wish present day culture would be...
Being a dancer and training professionally, I'm always amazed and moved by dancers. Yet, this piece by Justine just reduces me to tears everything I watch. She's the music. She's every beat, melody, instrument, emotion. I can't explain just how much I feel watching this beyond talented artist.
Justine, you are too good for the crappy commercial dance that comprises SYTYCD. You are such an original artist & you inspire me everyday to pursue my passion for dance. Thank you for being so true to this art form. I admire you so much.
Justine, I watched this back a few times since you auditioned on SYTYCD. It still gives me chills every time like the first time I saw it. I have seen some more of your work since then and it all had the same impact. I'm not a dance expert, but I've been a musician pretty much all my life. Like I tweeted soon after this aired, your work and your incredible spirit gets to me on an emotional and spiritual level like no other dancer I've ever seen does. Just like the music that inspires me the most, it can bring me to tears (good ones!). Like Kyle said, it's heartbreaking but incredibly uplifting too. It's real, honest, human, fearless and inspired. Never stop! The world needs artists like you...
Justine Lutz I´m from Chile. To this corner of the planet your dance has arrived. I like music, the steps, the breaks and your interpretation. Congratulations !!!!
This is so beautiful! She is so vulnerable and edgy at the same time! I just love it! It doesn't matter that she couldn't make it for top 20, I was so happy to see this! I can't wait for more!
I just saw her last night at Shaping Sound, Travis Wall's new touring company. She was sensational, but I couldn't even remember her from the auditions for SYTYCD. Just goes to show that one door closing leads to another opening...
This is literally the best video in all of youtube. Soooooooo disappointed that she didn't make it this season, and hardly watched any of top 20 on because of it. If she doesn't try out or doesn't make it next season I won't watch at all.
Ricky, with all the tricks and effortful and gimmicky facial expression, was tailor made for the mass-market audience of the show -- she is on a whole other level. Hope she has a long career.
This dance actually makes me cry. This is so beautiful and emotional. Can't believe she didn't get in. But anyway, I'm happy just to see her performance.
you truly inspire me as a dancer and I love attending your master classes you are truly inspiring (P.S - I am so sorry about the video I should have asked for your permission first)
This is memorable! I still come back and watch this every so often. It's pure art. She's incredible.

I really appreciate that.. thank you :)

Even the way she moved her back as the lyrics quoth ‘unfoolish fragile spine’
Years have passed and I keep seeing this dance from time to time ... I love it.
thank you truly means a lot

single best audition all season. Can't believe how many bland girls got into the top 20 in place of her
Best audition of the show by far.
justine when you dance it's how I dreamed I as a man would interrupt that song you nailed...on that platform...
awesome,beautiful...
AMAZING. So emotional! Best sytycd audition ever. I would love to at least meet this girl and dance with her.

Justine Lutz I´m from Chile. To this corner of the planet your dance has arrived. I like music, the steps, the breaks and your interpretation. Congratulations !!!!
@@JustineLutz you are my favourite ever contestant from SYTYCD and I come back to this piece at least once a month.
Omg she is dancing to one of my favorite SONGS !
If I ever feel lost in what I am doing, I just watch this dance... For some reason it really motivates me
This is so beautiful! She is so vulnerable and edgy at the same time! I just love it! It doesn't matter that she couldn't make it for top 20, I was so happy to see this! I can't wait for more!
Beautiful song and beautiful dance.
Years later, she danced for the biggest pop stars like Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, P!nk and counting ❤
I just saw her last night at Shaping Sound, Travis Wall's new touring company. She was sensational, but I couldn't even remember her from the auditions for SYTYCD. Just goes to show that one door closing leads to another opening...
thanks so much.
Ugh she is amazing! Such a poignant performance. So good.
wowowow!! This inspires me a lot !!! Amazing girl , the best choreo ... I'm so moved , awesome , beautiful !!!!!!
still one of the best auditions for that show. we were robbed and sytycd was stupid. you are amazing Justine!!
thank you!! means a lot
I teared up a little watching this. That never happens to me, lol.
This is literally the best video in all of youtube. Soooooooo disappointed that she didn't make it this season, and hardly watched any of top 20 on because of it. If she doesn't try out or doesn't make it next season I won't watch at all.
the movement is elegant, organic and honest. Reminds me of Teddy Forance at his best.
Equinoxmademedoit honored teddy is one of my favorites.
I think I had never before been so moved by an audition, it's just breathtaking
she was the only one who could have challenged Ricky
Ricky, with all the tricks and effortful and gimmicky facial expression, was tailor made for the mass-market audience of the show -- she is on a whole other level. Hope she has a long career.

My eyes started getting watery and I couldn't stop it. I think she has a rather special style.
