Don't act like Boston and Toronto weren't right there with the Yankees. It came down to Yankees/Sox and the sox folded.
And if you want to talk overpay I can list up to a hundred of them in the past decade. maybe more. Look at how much some of the mid players are raking in? Much rather go for quality.
It's amusing how Max went from "Top Starter on the Market" until he signed with the NYY in which he then transformed into this unreliable oft injured journeyman.
Th NYY would never have gotten Soto. Had they raised it to 800 Mill the short sell scammer Cohen would merely have upped it until Hal cried uncle.

So much misinformation / nonsense from these US announcers who obviously dont follow the Blue Jays. (1) When they won 2-3 yrs ago, it wasn't because they were defensive minded with Chapman. They won because they hit. They switched to being defensive minded recently (won team gold glove), but could not score runs. (2) Gimenez did NOT lose millions of dollars because he is now playing in Canada. His salary is in USD and does not change. lol. Clueless.

LHP tend to age better than RHP do and the aspect of his velocity/pitch effectiveness having declined slightly, he has the potential to make some adjustments to his pitching strategy similar to the way CC did when his power started to go down a little bit and IMO LHP tend to do well in Yankee stadium on average it would seem. Also, I think they will be trading Cortes and Stroman. In the case of Cortes, it's extremely irritating that his situation has come down to this since he was a pitcher whose skill sets were legitimately on the rise and then they foolishly mismanaged him in 2022 in regards to the way they utilized him in the rotation or over-utilized him having him work far more innings in a single season than he ever had before in his career and that's when we saw him start to become injury prone.

How many on Mets roster took Xtra swings in the cage today? This changes the fabric of Flushing for a decade plus! I am a diehard Mets fan. Listened to games on radio in early 80's praying for a Rusty or Heep pinch hit to win it as I lay in bed. Loved and idolized Kieth and Staw. Got chills as the wave passed in the upper decks in of Shea when Doc electrified a summer evening. Cried like a baby when Piazza went yard vs Braves after 9/11. Never screamed and jumped so high after Endy Chavez brought a grand slam back vs Cards in playoff game. Felt the chills when Thor stated 60feet 6 inches during 2015 world series. The majesty of Jake Degrom dominace or the dancing of an R.A. Dickey knuckler. 86 changed a City. Now Uncle Stevie just put the League on notice. We have our most clutch hitter in History coming off one of the most inspiring seasons in years. My Father loved his Brooklyn Dodgers as I love my Mets. It all started for me sitting on his lap in late 70's and seeing an actual moonshot off the bat of king Kong Kingman. We are so ready to ignite this City with Blue and Orange like the madness of the 80's and I know our Ring is coming. The question is? How many? Let's go Mets!

Snell has been able to barely average roughly 5 innings or just slightly above (5 & a third max.) over the course of his career and he's only contributed a significant amount of innings for the season (180 give or take) twice in his career if I'm not mistaken. This scenario with the Yankee's starters not going as deep as possible innings wise in the majority of their starts has been a chronic problem in recent years and the predictable result is the abuse that has been inflicted upon the bullpen all season long which causes them to be burnt out by the time they get to the playoffs.
