    You can melt glass with a microwave. You have to first heat the glass up with a torch. Cold glass is too stiff and won't vibrate. The heated glass has enough give to allow the microwaves to further increase the energy.

    What you also *need* to know is do *not* slice a magnetron open to see what is inside.
    Unless you know what you're doing, you'll slice through some beryllium oxide, generating dust that is very bad for you if you breathe it in.

    Brilliant video, are microwave ovens PWM modulated?

      Most microwaves are, but at a very low frequency, around 0.1 Hz to 0.2 Hz. It relies on thermal averaging in what you are heating up. Some microwaves are modulated faster (Panasonic inverter, for example) that are modulated much faster.

    How do the electrons go in a circle. I know like a solenoid has a wire to travel through for example.

      Electrons are charged particles. The path of any charged particle is affected by magnetic fields. Search for "How a Magentron works". Also, I highly recommend checking out some videos on the Kreosan channel. Those guys are crazy, they did a series of cool videos with a dismantled microwave.

      Yes, but you wouldn't be able to see it, as the light would be created inside the cavity magnetron with no way to escape.
      You could use the microwaves to hit some sort of phosphor covered surface and emit light that way.
      But the easier way would be just to use a light bulb.

    You should mention that metal in a microwave will get induced currents which can be a dangerous situation.

    Weird that I was always more afraid of magnetron than capacitor... They always tell me that not protected magnetron could really badly hurt you...

      The magnetron is only dangerous when it's on, when it's off it's safe.
      However, take precautions around the pink/white insulator of the antenna, some old magnetrons used beryllium oxide as insulator material, and that is really dangerous if you crush it and inhale the dust, and it can give you berylliosis, and that is incurable.
      Modern magnetrons use aluminium oxide instead which is safer, but you still don't want to crush and inhale that dust either, and there is also pink aluminium oxide so going by color itself doesn't help.

    I also need to know how that microwave is absorbed in other liquids like oil, milk etc. and more importantly how it affects chemical bonds in food, does it affect them differently than conventional heating? Can it flip perhaps double C=C bonds or is the energy not enough for that or am I missing perhaps the important question on how to compare these heating methods that is relevant to human health? I would like to see an honest scientific investigation and comparison of microwave vs. conventional heating, because to me it seems that either the microwave manufacturers tell people there is nothing different about it amd there is no danger at all vs other people that tell us it is very unhealthy. Same thing about the 5G technology that will cover us in much lower intensity but constantly present microwave radiation - what will the effects of that be?

      You won't die from heating food in your microwave, just don't leave it too long in it that it starts to char and burn.
      And the power used in communications microwaves, is not high enough to even warm you.
      The Sun puts on you around 500W of power and around half of that is IR radiation.
      Don't fall for all the nuts that claim that 5G will give you Cancer, staying on the sunlight for too long can actually give you Cancer.
      If microwave heating had serious health risks, we would have noticed them by now, the only danger I see from microwave ovens, would be from older ones that might leak microwaves, and if they are even older, they could contain beryllium oxide on their antenna insulator, which is nasty stuff if you crush it and inhale the dust, and there is no cure for that.

      No, but microwaves came first. Then the FCC made that frequency unregulated so you don't have to get a license to use your microwave. It was just a slice of unlicensed spectrum that was easy for wifi manufacturers to jump on (no license needed to turn on your access point!).

    you lost me when you said a fracked well is not dangerous. i can see because you have fracking customers you want to make them look good, but then you're not about teaching, you are a commercial.
