1:06 It’s little details like this with the Kraken’s arms each grabbing onto the rocks is what I love about classic Ray Harryhausen effects. The fact he still took the time to animate that to give his creatures more character is so charming.
I actually like this version of the Krakken because of nostalgia and I thought of the Kraken after seeing this a godlike humanoid.character that was. The new one also looks awesome effectwise and designcharacterwise. But I think Ray Harryhausen did a better job of making this creature design more in LINE with antiqitous greek statues. Like if someone asked me to design a character that was like a ancient chinese dragoon, or maybe eygptian, or medevil monsters.
White represents purity. The Goddess made it clear that she had to be "pure" a virgin soul to be a worthy sacrifice for the Kraken. The mother has told 30 days prior that her daughter was to die and most likely spent those 30 days grieving, as there was honestly nothing she could do to stop the sacrifice had Perseus not come to the rescue.
She was offerred to the gods. That's why she must look pretty and her mother could't do a thing as she was the one who angered Poseidon by stating that she and her daughter were prettier than the nereids (sea nympths).
And before there was CGI there was Cassiopeia in a silver white lurex gown - now that's glamour!. There is something about that certain cheapness to these stop-motions sword and sandal that gives them immortal charm: they are unassuming yet just a bit over the top (but slightly out of their depth cinematically)...unlike contemporary versions which are full of assumptions, are entirely over the top and don't know from depth. As for Harryhausen - NO ONE makes creatures move as expressively as he and it is doubtful anyone ever will again.
Movies back then were absolutely magical, in storytelling and scope. The beautiful scores were final icing on the cake 🎂. There's no magic or inspiration anymore 😢, seems to be all be political and personal agendas and corporate profit. I've noticed that most movies scores sounds very generic with "NO" heart or emotions. I really want to bringing the back those types of movies that I grew up with ever since I was toddler and younger ages in 2000s era with more "Absolutely Magical", "Storytelling" and "Scope". Even more "Heart and Emotion".
There's probably lots of reasons why you, me, and plenty others share those sentiments... A lot of movies made these days seem uninspired, uninspiring, or unmemorable, but whether we can point to the producers, the screenwriters, actors, sound department, or what, I'm not sure it's just (one) of those things. Music itself has changed, largely, whether that's by the FCC's liking, or back to the lack of passion from musicians/artists... Watch how "corporate music" (like what accompanies most YT ads, specials, etc.) is composed, or rather programmed... I know I have a penchant for the "jingle" of yesterday, and there's good reason why we could recite an Almond Joy commercial, or Ragu for that matter, count thousands of commercials that you can recall, over the perhaps millions that exist today, that simply don't register the same way. Even in what some like to think of as "the digital age", it resonates yet that man made (person-made for those who read hardly) music, film, any kind of art, simply lasts and leaves a stronger impression than any algorithmically sufficient "creator" could ever count for. Why a song from 50 years ago, can resonate strongly and perhaps even stronger than some 2-minute written/coded tune today, whether it is from the nature of recording, or recorded nature, there's more to human touch & interaction than handshakes and emojis. Same reason as why people prefer classical music, or vinyl over mp3, there's most certainly a science behind it all -- and not really anything "improved" by replacing man's work with computers, at many facets. Surely could talk more, or type more, but I'm not sure how many will listen as they read. 😂 There's lots of works and studies done on music & yeah, who knows if it's just soundtracks, bland actors (let me tell you, comedy has suffered enough -- yet, constant "PC"/offended uber-defensive folks may have more of that CPU thinking themselves! Comedy has seemingly revoked the bass drum and cymbal, even after the studious & collegiate comedians of today should recognize the benefits to one's health for LAUGHTER and SMILING.), low societal standards, or why people think the larger population of this world simply is too dumb to recognize ____*'s genius. (* = straight to Netflix movie, Captain Marvel, failed reboot, abysmal remake, Prime exclusives, SNL, Lizzo, "Dance Monkey", Late Night talk shows, Black Widow, video games, etc.!) Again, lot to chew and stew on, but it's easier to see or tell the difference, and spot the excuses just the same... Auto-tune doesn't do much favors for anybody, not every great film needs remaking, nor judging so harshly from present day eyes (Gone With the Wind, eh?)... Thankful for the multitude of awesome films, scores, soundtracks and albums (even music videos!) I've had in my life, and no doubt that we could make more, if not so reliant on calculators and computers to tell us what's "good".... Discernment is an ever powerful gift, and not one to take for granted!

After the Mighty Zeus and the gods battled their montrous brothers, the Titans, all titans were defeated in exception to a few, including the mighty titan of the sea, the Kraken. After the war, the Kraken was subjected to serve under the rule of the gods, fulfilling their every command, especially to the Greek God of the sea Poseidon. The Kraken slightly resembled its cephalopod form in exception to its many tentacle-like arms and some features of its head, the Kraken more resembled its fellow Titan brothers, and all deadly creatures of the sea. Although the Kraken was loyal to the gods, he was far more destructive than they could imagine and would not stop an order to destroy a city regardless of the god's command. One of the only things that could stop Kraken's path of destruction was Medusa, who could turn the Kraken into stone. Size: 291 ft Lengt: 790 ft Weight:19.999,999 Lbs.
I like the Godzilla franchise from my early childhood memories in the 2000s era after I was born on September 23rd, 1997. Godzilla is still my all-time favorite fictional character in movie history.
Godzilla (Irradiated Prehistoric Amphibious Reptile (Showa Series and mostly in Millennium Series), Irradiated Godzillasaurus (Heisei Series), Irradiated Marine Iguana (G1998), Collective Spirits of War World II Victims (GMK), and Prehistoric Amphibious Reptile (Titanus Gojira) (MonsterVerse), and Mutated theropod-like marine reptile (GMO).

Honestly, it doesn't look like Perseus is getting any closer whenever it cuts back to him. lol
Lol 1981 for ya
Verdade
I actually like this version of the Kraken it's like a mix of the sea serpent and a cephalopod man Ray Harryhausen is a genius of designing creatures
The kraken jacked up he even got a six pack
Poseidon always looks stoned off that sea weed
I was gonna say Andromeda look high af un-reacting to her doom
Before there was CGI, there was Ray Harryhausen!
The amazing stop-motion animations.
True that
Now the cgi try to imitate stop and motion.
@@rapatacush3 I didn't notice that

Definitely.
A classic monster movie. Amazing work from Ray Harryhausen.
Kraken had mad abs and chest definitions.....😅😅😅
0:18. RRRIIIIICCCCCOOOOOLLLLLAAAAA!!!! (For those too young, it’s from a cough drop commercial.). Look it up.
😂😅
I know what it is... I've seen the commercials when I was a kid😂😅

2:18 The Kraken looks jacked. Must be juicing up.
Love how Perseus looks totally desaturated from the green screen effects.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
I'd like to pause for a moment to give credit to the person who filmed the beautiful image of the setting sun buried in clouds over a vast sea @0:39
I remember catching this ending once as a kid and being completely confused about what was going on! Lol
hahaha that exact same thing happened to me 😅
history repeats itself.
🤣
This gave me proper nightmares when I was a kid!!
I love it for scaring me so bad :)
Good memories
OMG! I'm stunning because Princess Andromeda is so cute and beautiful.
Lucky that Andromeda didn't scream at the Kraken at all, she's very calm princess yet kinda of scared of the Kraken.
Millions of miles of mountains in front of Perseus... suddenly, he appears at the ocean shore lol

20 Million Miles to Earth, the Ymir…
Why is she dressed so lovely only to be eaten and why is her mother calm looking? A living sacrifice .

@Charles Darwin In this film, she was offered to the Kraken for offending the Goddess Thetis, not Poseidon.
@@MsUlquiorra77 I know they changed the story for the movie. 🙂

Awesome scene
A classic David vs. Goliath move. David had his sling and rock, Perseus had his Medusa head. LOL.

It is incredible how far CGI has come in the last 40 years
Surprisingly few barnacles on the Kraken, I wonder what moisturiser it uses

I don't think any efect of this movie aged well....🥴🤣
