keeping in mind that Tyler is a film fanatic, I can assume the bunny reference is in relation to Donnie Darko (Frank). Can we just conclude that genres cannot dismiss lyrical content or even perhaps emotive appeal? There's plenty of Metal artists and Rap artists that have similar content or even understanding .
Venex I wish for a serious Tyler album. I want lyrics like from Colossus, Rusty, Answer and such and just him really digging deep into his own mind. He had a crazy verse on the Cozy tapes
Iver Noem I agree, only downside is that he isn't at that point in his life anymore to talk about serious situations cause he has no worries lmao. I loved bastard and goblin because it was real grimy & dirty but his newer stuff is alright. I still respect him.
Venex there's always some situations in life you can write about. He can elaborate about the topic of Answer. He should just sit the fuck down and learn to embrace his deeper thoughts. He's a smart kid. Shame he's too caught up in being creative. There's a fine line there. I love him though.
dude im assuming you like metal and youre reacting to all of these rap videos... you gotta react to Death Grips. Guillotene or spread eagle cross the block. Or maybe Takyon
its funny how he says "this guy has problems and weird" yet Metal & Punk is ALSO weird and jump around like drunks but yet im here to answer your statement. Tyler is 25... that means his young obviously and when your young you have FUN and be UNIQUE. and he is very smart and uses alot of symbolism. BE OPEN MINDED smh
neonknight ik you liked the song but i was talking about the statement you made about him. The topic of my comment wasn't about whether you liked it or not but disagreeing with your statement about him. smh
Josh Reyes idk what you're trying to say here. all I was trying to point out was that he's definitely more out there and esoteric visually from everything else I've seen on this channel on initial reaction. that doesn't mean it's bad, and has nothing to do with the genre of music. AGAIN, I was commenting on the video on first look, not as a definitive conclusions. opinions can change pal
You haven't heard an emotional metal song, trust me. I'm not trying to say there isn't any emotional rap songs. But some metal songs are surprisingly really emotional.
Yonkers being one of the hardest beats made by Tyler was "a piece of shit I did in 8 minutes" This song has no meaning deeper than just wanting to do it for the shock value and fucks. Still dope and you can interpret it how you want that's the beauty of music.
If you listen to each album it corresponds on how he is feeling at that time and you will notice how upbeat his songs get the further you get to his latest album.
I didn't know there was react channels that actually gave thoughtful commentary and research afterwards. Awesome shit man, if there was anyone deserving of recognition it's you. Subbed.
Jameson Pope same bruh it feels great living more naturally and shit. not so much of Mick Jenkins, I didn't know he pushed indigo stuff? I dont listen to him though, his music is boring to me tbh lol
At least you are open minded. I'm into Metal and Hip-Hop a lot. I like doing my research on all bands I listen to and learn trivia. Tyler is one of my favorite artists. He was smart back then but he always wanted to have fun and piss people off.
I can break it down for you Tyler is a straightedge moshpit kid that acts white when he wants (hence his tone in the video) then black when he wants to get a point across (his lyrics) the video is about death, he wants his haters to die and his bottomfeeders to piss off. when they don't he lets his alternative sides come out (aka multiple personalities) and take control, when he doesn't get his way he turns to killing himself. It's simple, dark, and the camera work really elevates his mood with the B&W filter and focus mechanics.
Listen to EARL- Grief He is/was a part of odd future and is the most talented of the bunch, tyler and frank being his two main competitors within their clan, although frank ocean has mainly gone solo.
Earl is not the most talented of them lol Tyler and Frank are way more talented. Earl is a great rapper but as an artist he isn’t close to tyler or frank
If it's darker rap you're interested in i suggest: Necro, Brotha Lynch Hung, King Gordy, Esham, Even Eminem songs like stay wide awake, Devil inside, Same song and dance, etc
Damn dude, it's 2016, and you're reacting to Yonkers? Also, nice jerk sock on the mic... Tyler would approve. If you liked Tyler, check out Earl, Vince, and Jack Mushroom. They're all somewhat similar in terms of dark style of content they write in their songs. Mike G, Casey Veggies, and Domo Genesis are good too, but they're somewhat different compared to the aforementioned artists. Aside from OF, Avionadramida of Kool Klux Klan was pretty good... rip avi
I would LOVE if you would read the rap genius after songs that you find stimulating or confusing because those make the best videos and gives you a platform to work your ideas off of. Great video, keep it up.
Nah there's plenty of meaning. Example: the roach represented current rappers and by him eating it that symbolized him believing he is a more superior artist. Just gotta dig.
3 points that desperately need to be made: 1. this is my first video of this guy and its not as bad as the lame haters in the comments said. this guy is chill and relaxing to watch from what I see aka not "boring" but chill instead 2. lots of comments about "wahh wahh you only like one genre." are stupid and ignorant. genre preference and only liking 1 genre are 2 totally different things, for 1 thing He can call himself a metalhead and still like other genres of music, like how im a punk but i listen to a wide variety of music. 3. Props for the Cubs shoutout, super psyched about it actually being from Chicago and all. They deserved it and earned it.
neonknight Ok. You said you were open to listening to more though. He's a lot different now maybe try some of his newer stuff? I subscribed thanks for the reply.
Your reaction was so genuine haha. I could so relate when you said "wow his guy has serious problems. I don't know, this kinda made me feel awkward, I guess the beat was kinda cool" 😂💯lol Nice vid
He says he did this because he knew it'd garner a lot of attention. Whether you believe that or not, it did; it was the video that launched his career.
This is just my opinion but DOOM is a bit complex for the average listener. The way he can rhyme on and off a beat is insane and his choice of lyrics can be overwhelming if you're not familiar with his style.
The way I usually judge rap songs is by message/subject matter, Feel/Delivery, Bar scheme/lyrical ability (metaphors, wittyness). Thera are also different sub genre's of rap that lean heavier to any of the above categories. trap = feel / delivery , conscious = message / subject matter , then there are spotters like eminem that focus mostly on Bars schemes and wittyness.
CAZPER Holy shit, is that really his goal? I've always been turned off by Tyler, The Creator because I feel like his lyrics are totally meaningless. If those lyrics were all really just a parody of simple rappers I would have so much respect.
This video is a representation, I believe, of a person who finally dives into rap music deeper in general. You will find many many artists that you will enjoy.
Tyler is amazing. End of discussion.

Venex I wish for a serious Tyler album. I want lyrics like from Colossus, Rusty, Answer and such and just him really digging deep into his own mind. He had a crazy verse on the Cozy tapes

Iver Noem true true, I see what you mean. I wish he would too. I'm just gonna hope his next project is somewhat deep and meaningful.

Pretty emotional for a rap song? Rap songs can be a thousand times more emotional than metal
Yeahh these idiots think all rap is like the shit on the radio

Edgar Hernandez well he hangs himself stupid. Its dark

I can break it down for you
Tyler is a straightedge moshpit kid that acts white when he wants (hence his tone in the video) then black when he wants to get a point across (his lyrics)
the video is about death, he wants his haters to die and his bottomfeeders to piss off. when they don't he lets his alternative sides come out (aka multiple personalities) and take control, when he doesn't get his way he turns to killing himself.

Michael Angel lol nah he admitted to just making this song as kindof a joke
Yea its not that deep

I would LOVE if you would read the rap genius after songs that you find stimulating or confusing because those make the best videos and gives you a platform to work your ideas off of. Great video, keep it up.
there actually is no meaning behind anything in this video. he just thought it looked cool
Nah there's plenty of meaning. Example: the roach represented current rappers and by him eating it that symbolized him believing he is a more superior artist. Just gotta dig.
You're trying way too hard to find meaning here.
+Monk Killedababy the fuck? That's what Earl said in an interview but okay.
So you didn't dig, someone just told you... Thanks for being polite, as Odd Future fans always tend to be!
