Black Gumbo shares our suburban, backyard, sustainable gardening efforts. We work a small-scale teaching garden, much like the typical Zone 9a backyard garden and raised beds, the kind of gardening accessible to all. We also grow lots of fruit and berries. We tend to take the slice of life approach and hope you will enjoy our family, our dog, our cooking, our adventures, and occasionally some commentary and advice. We love family, joy and friendship, and we invite you to enjoy these things with us!

We’d be so grateful if you would like and share our videos if you find them useful. It helps us immensely.
Pico is one of my favorite food groups! This year, I'm finally growing all of my own ingredients! Thanks for sharing.
I can this every year. A stable in my household.
I love Pico de Gallo. This looks so yummy. TFS 👍
We love Pico! Some of the best eating are things straight out of the garden - fresh! Nice video.
Looks like summertime, I’ve made some this year with my fresh tomatoes and it’s delish.
Love the video's where you use what you grow Scott. Tomatoes, onions, peppers, and cilantro are common things people grow. I might have to try this when I start harvesting later this year.
I eat my pico with a spoon and sour cream. Yummy!
Another Great Gardening Cooking video!
Made my mouth water. Thanks Scott!!
❤ One of my favorite side dishes!!
Excellent Scott! Thanks for sharing your process 🌱🍽️
You can use the chopper for your tomatoes and the smaller cutter for your jalepenos. I always use mine for them and it's such a time saver.
Your pepper plant looks amazing. Ive had set back after set back on mine.
Looks delicious! I currently have 2 kinds of jalapeño plants growing in my garden here in Tampa Bay FL, one is called Jalafuego, have 3 plants, the other variety is an heirloom, have one of this variety. It has produced jalapeños like crazy. I’ve made a lot of poppers but now seeing your pico de gallo….yup I need to make me some. Thanks for recipe.
You just had to make me go and drull😂
Thank you 😊
That looks really good! I have this saved for later this summer.
Thank you. I really enjoy your cooking vids.
Looks good 💚
No sabia que hablas espanol. Muy bien!
Solo un poco, aprendí en la escuela secundaria y he aprendido un poco aquí y allá.
That looks great. Going to give it a try. Love the cooking videos
If you can't eat cilantro, you can substitute parsley. It's still good.
Garden to table is so important
People need to know what to do with what they grow
Very good idea
Much love xoxox
I've never had or heard of it but I'm in northern Canada and we don't have many good and different places to eat where I am
Thank you. nice job. Kind regards
Omg! I hate you right now lol. I love pico de gallo. I’m on a carnivore “diet” for the last 5 months and I’m feeling wonderful on it. I might have to have a 6 month splurge. 😂 I’m definitely canning some salsa verde in the next month. The tomatillos are growing and peppers and tomatoes!!! Plus cilantro and coriander lol. Love summer canning season. Carnivore or not. ❤
After living outside Corpus Christi for a decade I never learned to make pico.😢
I started to buy some gypsy pepper seeds but then not sure about how they would taste - I can't handle the heat. I've been wanting some Pico dip for days and don't have tomatoes ready so have been waiting - I guess for your video LOL.YUM
Not many Mexican recipes in WV. LMBOi could not cut up peppers without gloves. Must be susceptible to the oil in the peppers
How do you have jalapenos and tomatoes already? 9bCA here and not even close. I'll try this recipe for sure. Looks so good. Thanks!
Can't eat those jalapeños anymore. I'm growing tomatoes and banana peppers. Store bought tomatoes have no flavor, I'll be trying yhis recipe, thanks
If you like the flavor of jalapeños, try growing Nadapenos. Jalapeño flavor and no heat. You can get seeds from Baker Creek. Can’t use them all? Can them to eat with your tacos and burritos. Yum!
Lol we use serranos, onions, cilantro (more of this), salt, and lemon juice at our house. If you pick the serranos when the plant is dry the peppers will be hotter.
I love your channel! But stay away from knives! Lol
I like your wife's chopping gadget. Do you know where she purchased it?
I'll try to remember to ask her.
I have one, my wife says she got it on QVC but has seen a similar one at "grocery outlet" recently.
Would fresh sweet corn work with this? Looks good. Never made it.
Yeah that might be good in it.
Please be safe, no double dipping.
It doesn't matter if you eat it all yourself. Haha
@@maries3609 When you have family, you must think of them.
A better pepper choice is Pubescen varieties like 'Manzano' or a 'Rocoto'.
Yeah. They have that at my local Dillon's. Oh, wait. No, they don't. IF they have it, it will be one choice: Take it or leave it.
. Why the ton of salt ? Just curious
It was the equivalent found in many other recipes I referenced.
Go heavy on the salt boiz.
Too much salt
Not according to the many Mexican cooks on UA-cam that I researched. It was delicious!
