Yeah, but there are a lot of people who pay in hundreds of thousands of dollars over the span of decades that don't ever have medical issues before retirement or that don't have medical issues that amount to what they paid into it. Example: I have always paid around $7,000/yr in premiums. If I did that from age 18yo until 67yo (retirement age for my generation), then I will have paid in $343,000 just in premiums alone. My deductible / out-of-pocket max is $9,500 - and my insurance doesn't pay anything until that deductible is met. I have never met or exceeded this amount in a years time - which means that for the past 30yrs, I have paid for all of my medical expenses, not the insurance company. So I am paying for all my medical expenses while also paying the premiums. "If you’re offered health coverage by your employer, you can buy insurance through the Marketplace instead. But you may not qualify for a premium tax credit and other savings based on your income." So even Marketplace isn't beneficial if your company offers you insurance. The number one reason for bankruptcies in the US is from high medical bills that cannot be realistically paid back. Having decent health insurance is the best way to prevent this.
@austin M How would bankrupting every hospital and doctor's office "fix the system"? Plus you can't just declare bankruptcy on a specific debt. I would just declare bankruptcy on (only) my credit card debt every month. Doesn't exactly work, does it?
Decent health insurance doesn't exist unless you work for some major corporation. Even they felt the effects of Obamacare. Obamacare drove premiums up and we're paying for it now. No reason to get insurance if they keep raising premiums
Joshua well of course premiums are up cost of living is higher.u should have insurance because if u don’t they aren’t going to treat you or you can’t go to a doctor.u will pay a larger amount out of pocket.
Joshua Obamacare drove the premiums up because it guaranteed coverage of people with preexisting conditions. The only way to get premiums back down would be to kick the high risk people back off and just let them die

There are people like this in church who ascribe to these ludicrous beliefs. It's not biblical at all. Its insanely stupid
Actually, God would want you to believe in him and his protection. And having health insurance is a complete contradiction of "I trust God, He has me. It's all in His hands." Faith is a joke, and Christians are laughable.

... I had surgery not to long ago. I didn’t have insurance. One because I cant afford it. I got the bill from the hospital. $50,000. And out of nowhere there’s a uninsured health insurance discount at the bottom of the bill. Brought my total down to $2000. 🤷🏽♂️
Nvm, it went up another 12,000. Apparently there’s a thing call cleaning bill. Well, oh well.
What state do you live in ?
They probably write off the other 38k as a tax write off. The healthcare system here is all about money.
The problem is if he ends up in the hospital and has a $2 million bill. It could wipe you out.
Even worse the insurance contract rate might only be 300k.
@The Calming Kind If you don't have medical insurance, some hospitals won't even admit you. So you could end up with little or no medical care, when you need it. If you have a medical bill and don't pay it, there are a variety of steps they can take to collect it. It is simply not responsible to not have medical insurance. It's like driving around without car insurance.
Dean Albertson we’ll not having a car is not illegal. What are they gonna do for unpaid medical debt if he’s retired. Even if ur old and retired and not paying student loans all they can do is take the ss. If he saves for retirement goes to the er then what are they gonna do to him?
@@humzahhassan4521 She said they have a high net worth. The debt collectors can come after many of their assets. You don't want to be old, sick, and dealing with debt collectors and law suits. It's just not smart to be without medical insurance.
Did you know- cash payers get more money off. Did you know that when you pay for health coverage you are paying a middle man to negotiate your bills- if you had no insurance and went to the hospital- you would actually have more negotiating power paying cash.
The problem with health insurance is that these companies don't pay out when you make claims anymore. It's in their business model to not pay. Would rather get on a payment plan with a hospital than go through the hassle of fighting with an insurance company when I need healthcare.
Also, Joseph saved up food for the coming famine, just like we are to save for times of need. Storms come to those who built their house on the sand AND on the rock. God bless.

I now pay for my own insurance from the so called affordable act, which isn't very affordable at all! I am paying about $430 a month and draining my savings. Also, if I do need surgery and have to be out of work, I will not be able to get short term disability. I was thinking about signing up for social security when I turn 62 in August but that would mean that I would still have to pay for my own insurance. Just thinking about this is making me sick!

What I don't like about insurance is they always try to deny claims. It seems they try to dictate your health. They even deny things the doctor recommends. I want to follow the doctor not the insurance company policy.

Health insurance is something you don’t need until you become ill. My son was in the ICU for a month when he developed COVID. His bill was 1.1 million. He paid nothing because he had health insurance.
Hospitals like keeping patients there for the max allowed time, a month.
I am licensed in insurance. Insurance is based on how much risk you want to transfer. As we all get older, our risk for something to happen healthwise increases. It does protect the entire family from financial harm.
Yeah, right. Insurance doesn't cover as much as it used, too. It can still financially harm the family.
