Sajjad Hussain Sahab was truly a Gem who gave music lovers a lot of songs to remember. He was a temperamental person but his fantastic music overshadowed his temper. Too many songs have been popular but my favourite is from Sangdil “Dil me sama gaye sajan”. A true and talented music director.

Sajjad sb was a perfectionist and only concerned with his own appeasement rather than public acclaim. He was a specially gifted artist and meant for the people of special taste not for masses. Real music lovers will always worship him

Great old music director famous for his mandolin expertise. In South India, the famous cartoon artist and film director "Bapu" particularly selected him to provide only mandolin music for his films viz., Mutyala muggu, Goranta deepam to suit the situation. This proved to be excellent choice. Such a great musician.

Very nice narration of life and work of Sajjad Hussain saheb ! I am an amateur singer and sing his song, "Ye hawa ye raat ye chandni " ! In spite of my best efforts, I am unable to sing the taan sung by Talat saheb and Lata Mangeshkar didi in last stanza of this song ! I salute the competence of Sajjad Hussain saheb ! May Allah keep him in Jannat always !!

Greatest Music Director Sajjad Husenji.Though I am follower of old music directors like Noushadji,C Ramchandrji,Madan Mohanji and other contemporary Music Directors I am deprived to listen to Sajjadji.Earlier I have stoered "Phir tumhari yad aye ai sanam" to my youtube video library I am not known About Shri Sajjadji.And as you correctly described him as Real Music Director .I have also songs of Rustom Sohrab and Sangdil.I was not aware about his stake in this field.Thank you for tha same and obliged. Can I expect few lines from yourself of my opinion.Thanks again
Sajjad was a genius music director. He done 17 films from 1944 to 1978,but never gone below standard. His songs are like gems. He said Kishore Kumar as Shor Kumar. Really outspoken
But had no sense of music. Only some dimwit would say Kishore Kumar was shor Kumar. No wonder Sajjad Hussain got no public endorsement and got only 17 films in a span of 30 years.

Very good knowledge of history of filmi music was never known of old era. It was foundation of future of Golden era of we enjoyed. Now filmi music is required some tonic to emerge as old era nowadays.

He was indeed the best among others. Very talented, originality was his forte. He was best player of mandolin or rather mandolin was lucky enough to have been played by Sajjad Hussain. Lataji was a great fan of his Calibre. But he was headstrong and was a no nonsense man and for this reason remained unwelcome. But we indeed miss you Sajjad Sir.
Saunas was a class by himself .Music composed by him will be cherished forever.

Sajjad Hussain sahib was my one of best music director. It is most unfortunate that inspite of he being genius, could not get more films. We lost opportunity to hear his most sweet tunes. I saw Sangdil & Rustam - Sohrab films , what a extraordinary music by great Sajjad Sahib. My most favorite song is Dharti se dur gore badlon ke par , aaja basalen naya sansar...from Sangdil . What a flow of tunes. Great music director Anil Biswas has chosen this song and said we make tunes only but Sajjad Sahib's tunes are out of the world.
I pray 🙏 🤲 Almighty for his beautiful soul to rest in peace .

It also has been reported in several magazines that in the song, 'yeh hawa yeh raat yeh chandni' song one of the sitar players, who later become very famous and got the title of 'Pandit', made a mistake in the song. All through his life when Sajjad Hussain heard that song he cringed at the place where the sitar player had goofed.

He was just an ordinary music composer who gave few hits. Far superior composers were Madan Mohan, Naushad, S.D. Burman, Hemant Kumar etc., who were not only versatile but their composition would speak for the theme itself.
Lata Ji ‘s song Ae Dil Ruba from Rustom Sohrab is the best of all songs!

Read an article in "Ilustrated Weekly of India" in 50s written by Lata Mangeshkar. She chose 10 best Music Directors of India - started from Ghulam Mohammed. Sajjd Hussain was one of them. "ALL were mismerised when he played Mendolin" She wrote. But "recognition" always dodged him like Naushad Ali. Such Gems are born in centuries.
