My D800 has this lens attached to it most of the time. I especially love having it at 28mm, 2.8 and ISO 50, it always gives me this sort of shimmery look.
Love your work Pete. My D810 will be arriving soon and I've seen some very cheap DX lenses, that just can't be passed in. They are the 35mm f1.8 and a 55-200mm f4-5.6, not great lenses but a start now that I've come over to the dark side ;)
come over 'from' the dark side you mean. with the 810 I would go straight for the 50 1.8g same focal length if it crops the 35 and no vignetting if you use it ff.
+darkmanunknown Yep, on the D750, u can choose auto DX mode, allows you to use any DX lens I have the 18-200 MKII VR 18-55 VR and the Tokina 11-16, all work great as do all AF film lenses, 70-300 is very good and even better is the 28-80mm and pin sharp all at rock bottom prices and if you can stretch a bit more the 60mm and 105mm f2.8 are superb ok no silent motor or VR but..........
Hi Pete, thanks for doing this video, I was thinking of this lens to use on my D810 but was wondering if I select x1.2 crop which will still give a decent image size without loosening to many megapixels but what's the image quality like wider than 24mm. Gary
What if I use DX lens on FX body whit switch OFF auto DX mode? What about the focal lenght, the ISO noise and megapixel? Same when I use an FX lens on FX body ( except vignetting )?
Hi, Peter, I tend to buy a d610 and own a Sigma 17-50mm f2.8. You say from 35mm you won't get any vigneting? And what are the results of your images when I set the D610 to DX-mode? Are they still good/acceptable? Especially in lowlight (concerts)?
maybe planning on buying the d610 aswell but have the nikkor dx kitlens and 70 200 in my collection just need to be sure if it will work else ill go to an d5600
+Evan Paglinawan any dx lens will work, set camera to automatically recognise dx lens but u get a cropped image. used the nikon 18 to 200 mk2, wide angle tokina 11 to 17 and the nikon 18 to 55. i prefer to use the older afs lenses as no cropping and cheap, try a 60mm micro and a 28 to 80.
if u have a fx dont go out and buy dx lens. using a fx is like a wide angle lens so why buy dx lens. if u already have dx lens then ok. i sold my 18 to 200 and the tokina wide angle

Nice, thanks! Are you still Pete😂?
Cheers Pete! Great video! I may consider keeping mine. I just upgraded to full frame and was thinking of selling the 17-55mm dx.

yeah, i should've kept mine aswell, but now i've gone primes all the way, less convenient but faster and great image quality

PS When buying the camera I was told by the sales person that DX lenses would not work well on the D750! Not true
Hi, i have a D750. What dx lens you use with this camera? How is it? Thanks

Thanks for the information, i might try the 35mm f1.8DX lens. All the best.
Interesting video, which would have been much better without the background music. For those of us with less than perfect hearing.
