I would concur that aegis in military is extremely dangerous for a nation. However these sputnik & all the superpower activities some how are misplaced in comparison to Bangladesh's situation. If comparison was to be made than Bangladesh is still below the belt militarily, look at BD, we haven't even been able to replace BGF7 which were made in 1965 where as China, Russia, USA & EU are working on their 5th Gen fighters. When nations have war game simulations to reflect battle scenario's before it occurs Bangladesh still working on network, most of the battle system Bangladesh has aren't even network-centric. The incident of one general calling on ruffians is very amateur, this is whats happens when a nation military gets captured by bureaucrats & becomes aegis. This was somewhat started during the emergency government times by gen Moin, however this went on full effect after Philkhana. Since then sincerity & professionalism in our force was put to bed. However there are still officers who have grain in their soul & they are completely overwhelmed & embarrassed as to what is happening. Unless whole military comes to realise this, it will eat away out nations roots, in this matter civilians can't really do much as they are out of touch when it comes to military's activities (for good reason too). Current situation is much worse than ever both civil & military situation, it is killing the nation in slow pace, like a cancer, destroying from inside. However this is also the right timing for Military to do their necessary duty for the sake of the nation. Bangladesh's bureaucrats have done injustice to military before, but never as much as these days, else there would be political reply to any security threat both economical as well as disaster management, just as you said about issues related to India & Myanmar. Politician meant to handle those with firm hands, instead they just embraced all embarrassment. Our nations Prime minister, daughter of father of our nation went with invitation to resolve Teester River water share, but instead a bogus story was told by India & refused the deal their Prime minister agreed to, that is a true slap in the face for PM as well as a nation of Bangladesh. Again regarding Rohingya crisis & Maynmars belligerent provocation on the border, both due to politicized, else Bangladesh knows how to reply, they done it before during Naf River crisis. I feel even the purchasing & modernization of military is now used as a political card, it will most likely be used during election, hence no progress for so many years, whilst nations who were behind Bangladesh have moved beyond Bangladesh. This all boils down to peoples thirst for nepotism or love for mother land, these days nepotism is the winner.
