Delain are awesome. I love that they are really committed to making catchy songs you would hear on the radio if the world was a fair place.
Many other bands write longer, more 'epic' songs, but nobody can really match Delain for a melodic 4-minute pop metal anthem. 'Suckerpunch' is another great song of theirs.

I think "nothing left" is much much better than The Gathering.
05:13 Kels reaction was exactly my reaction when I heard Charlotte's voice there.. omg, you have no idea how many times I replayed this song over and over again!! It also got me back into Delain after a while of not really following them.

I saw them in concert many years ago opening up for Kamelot when I'd never heard them before and was just captivated by Charlotte and the whole band. Her voice in this track definitely inspired goosebumps in me too Kel. Fantastic song!

The first concert we took our kids to was Delain opening for Kamelot. My 13-year-old daughter nearly fainted when Tommy hugged her
Charlotte Wessels( Delain)- Yep, that was her. She kicked it up for this song, She has a beautiful voice. Every now and then, Marco from Nightwish joins them for a song or two. Delain used to open for Nightwish. Delain is one of several talented European Symphonic Metal bands( Dutch). Huge Nightwish fan, as you know.. Delain is in my top 3( maybe top 2).. They have an old song called- Scarlet, that would likely make tears roll too. Thanks for checking them out..**All of the bands that open for Nightwish ( Sonata Arctica, Beast in Black and Delain, to name a few) have gone on to be pretty special.. Thanks again for the shout out and great reaction.

There's great symphonic metal coming from the Netherlands... Delain, Epica, Ayreon, Within Temptation, After Forever, ReVamp, MaYaN, ... I guess the Netherlands will be Kel's favorite coutry... musicwise. ;)
ReVamp doesn't exist anymore, but Stream of Passion (sadly also doesn't exist anymore) is a Dutch project as well
@@drasgaming5017 How could I forget Stream of Passion??? That's unforgivable. Johan is playing in Vuur and Marcella is singing in MaYaN. Too bad they split, seen them live quite a few times. The first time even with Arjen Lucassen on guitar.

I've seen Star One live and Ayreon Universe. Maybe we'll see each other at the Electric Castle Show in September. I got tickets for the Friday show

#Delain is kind of a spin-off from the band Within Temptation in the sense that the founder of the band is his brother Robert Westerholt (who formed the band together with Sharon den Adel). He was part of the band as the keyboard player himself (Martijn Westerholt) but he had to leave the band because he contracted the Pfeiffer disease. Although it is not very dangerious the people who have it are very tired all day. Since the recovery can take years they had to find somebody else (curiously enough having the same firstname Martijn Spierenburg). When he finally recoverd 2 years later he formed Delain. With the introduction of the debut album (Lucidity) he received a lot of support from his former band members (Sharon is the vocalist on one of the songs) but also from Marco Hietala (who practically performed on every record they ever released, many people consider him like un-official bandmember).

I first encountered Delain four years ago, when they were touring in support of Nightwish. I'd never heard of them or any of their music, but right out of the gate (I think they opened with a song called Mother Machine), they captivated me. Something about their sound, their style of writing, and obviously Charlotte's ridiculous vocal abilities all just made for a powerful combination. So many great songs to check out by them. You really can't go wrong with virtually anything they do.
One of my favorite bands of the last several years, Charlotte is my favorite female singer ever. Kel, let the tears flow. Charlotte dose that to me often, I have to be careful listening to her at Work because a tear can come without warning. I' so glad to see this video. LOVE
Whenever you feel it, let it out. Cry. It's good for the soul. We're here for ya.

Don't know if anyone mentioned it before but the brain behind Delain is keyboardplayer Martijn Westerholt who was the original keyboardplayer (on the first few albums) of Within Temptation.

Ahhh! My favourite Delain song to date! Saw them live in Regina, Saskatchewan a few years ago. Her voice was amazing then, but to hear this song live? I got goosebumps watching you get goosebumps!

There is a North America tour coming up later this year. In September/October . If you get the chance to go see them, please do. I’ve seen them over 50 times live. They never disappoint.
The singer, Charlotte Wessels, actually can sing like that live. There are videos of them doing this song live long before this song was released and she crushes it.
When this single was released it blew Delain fans' minds because of how incredibly powerful her voice was. She always had a great voice but we had never really heard her go to this level before.
I was at one of the concerts prior to the release of their last EP and they performed this song, it was indeed awesome. She is also a real sweetheart. At one point of the concert the audience just kept on applauding for minutes. I was nearly right in front of her and i could really see her choke-up. If they ever perform close-by do whatever you have to, to see them live.
Finally Delain!!!. Thank for you reaction, your faces, your tears are just like ours with this band. Please ract to more Delain.
I love Delain and this song is pure magic to me. I’ve watched this video countless times and I still get goosebumps when Charlotte’s voice takes off. It’s a wonderful song. I’m glad you’re able to find this music now Kel. There’s some pretty rough stuff but there’s also a lot of fantastic music out there. Keep it going!

It's a very powerful song, especially if you know the story behind it. Any live version is better than that.

@@xenophon343 They just really weakened the sound and dropped the guitars down to make it less heavy. they have such great songcraft it sucks to see them compromise the power of their sound.

The new rendition of delain has just released their brand new album with their great new singer and new lineup, and it should be a contender for the album of the year in Europe... 10/10 great to epic songs to react to... you better get busy!

I watched this entire reaction end-to-end at least 5-6 times before UA-cam struck it down two days after it was posted, and now at least another 5-6 times since it was re-posted recently. This is a very powerful statement about music, about art, about repression and expression, and it moves me every time. I have heard some say, years ago, that music for them was like the spice of life, whatever that means. For me it is not the spice - it is bread and water, it is meat and potatoes, it is salt and pepper. It is sustenance, and I cannot imagine my life without it. I think it might be like that for you, Kelli. So congratulations on "getting it."

It's great to see someone finally reacting to this awesome song. I only receently discoverd it (and Delain) and I instatrnly loved it. It's so epic sounding. And Charlotte's voice is incredible.
Hardly any of the reacters out there seem to know about it or react to it. Delain really deserves more respect and more recognition. Glad to see them getting some here.

Heard Delain live in 2015 when they opened for Nightwish. I really did not know much about them either, and they were amazing. And of course Nightwish was excellent, they are even better live. Charlotte has done several songs over the years with Marco from Nightwish, he is a excellent singer. The two bands know each other well and are friendly.

Delain...another great Dutch symphonic metal band....their song Get The Devil Out Of Me ..is very catchy and awesome....you would love that song too. They have alot of good ones though.
For people who don't know Delain that well it's hard to describe just what a massive leap forward this song was for them. Especially in Charlotte's vocals. She had NEVER sang with this kind of power before.
Wow. Not sure if I've heard this specific Delain song before. Glad you guys got to this band as they're another of the great Symphonic Metal bands. One of the other big ones you haven't reacted to yet is Xandria (have seen lots of requests for them), hope they're in the queue soon :)
Good morning! Love you guys and my heart melted at your reaction. I hoped I hadn’t overhyped this performance. IMO, clearly one of the best symphonic metal songs produced in the last few years.
Delain is a tier 1 Symphonic Metal group with Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation, etc. The group formed in 2002 and really took off in 2005 after shuffling some people. Charlotte (Charlie) like most lead singers is classically trained and a beautiful tone to her voice. The keyboardist formed the group and was originally with Within Temptation.
The band is scheduled to tour the US and Canada later this year.
If you’re like me you’ll play this video over and over again! It’s that addiction I told Rich about. Lol!

And , icing on the cake , they are SO kind and generous with the crowd ... They were the first part for Sonata Arctica wich is a very good Finnish power metal band ...u should try their song Wolf and raven...
When music truly penetrates me I have the same reaction of Kel. And few things beide music can take me the places where music can.

Delain is a fantastic band. You must see them live. We are the others album is amazing. Please listen to other songs of them. Listen to the song "not enough" Get the devil out of me, The gathering, April Rain, Frozen, and many songs with Marco from Nightwish like Sing to me. I have seen them 5 times in concert. JUst another fantastic Dutch band with a singer on par with Floor of Nightwish, Simone of Epica, and Sharon of Within Temptation. ( All Dutch singers)

Gonna join the chorus of voices in the comments proclaiming the greatness of Delain. Been lucky enough to see them live a few times, and let me tell you, they absolutely BRING IT on stage. They are a fantastic band, and there's a lot of music you should check out by them. The Gathering, Sing to Me, We Are The Others to name a few older tracks you should hear.

Kel, I know some of what you speak. I'm not a musician, more like Rich, just a lifelong appreciation of music of many genres. Like you, though, a somewhat strict upbringing, I had to "sneak" music until I was on my own in adulthood. I like you love to "feel" my music as much as hear it!! And yes!.........the emotions it evokes and the "other world" that it can take you to........!

I had a friend who was an amatuer photographer like me but he decided to make it his profession and now he hates photography as he has to do it to make ends meet instead of a hobby.
So many people think that this sort of music is "devil" music,they are ignorant people who look for an excuse to blame society problems,I'm glad you are now enjoying it,my wife went through the same with her ex husband,this music would make her a slut according to him,yet he was the one sleeping around and beating her.
Then I came along and it all changed,she now lives this music
Delian was given opportinity to play at Download Fesival Mainstage.. they refused, they took Sophie Stage : Sophie LAncaster was a goth dressed like girl, who was kicked to death by idiots just for her looks. She was protecting her boyfriend who got smacked and kicked, and she was while he was lying, protecting his head from kicks, she got some to the head, both went into a come, and she died a few days later of that, her boyfriend recovered. Delian made a song about it, and bullying in general. "We Are The Others"
Kel, Rich, hi guys. This happened to be the 2nd track i heard from Delain, the first being "Burning Bridges" and after this track i literally fell hook line and sinker totally in love with Charlotte. There must be something in the water up there in Holland, The Netherlands 😉. Welcome to the wonderful world of Symphonic metal and along with Dutch powerhouses Charlotte, you have Floor Jansen , [Nightwish], Simone Simons [Epica] and Sharon den Adel [ Within Temptation], like i said something in the water lol. I think Burning Bridges would be a great follow up to this one and it's a rabbit hole you may have to dive in. I can see the impact this track has on Kel and she's right, let those tears out and expel those demons from your restricted past as far as music is concerned. Those other 3 groups i mentioned are definately worth checking out too. I know this reaction is a few yrs old BUT, Delain have changed lead vocalists, and moved members around with a couple of new additions, Charlotte is gone now but the new singer is brilliant too and their 1st single from the new album is called "The Quest and the Curse" trust me guys, check it out, she even sounds like Charlotte a bit lol. I watched some of your reactions but even though I liked some I wasn't convinced to subscribe to your channel ... until I heard what Kel said at the end of this reaction.
It was the deciding factor.
This is just such a great song, I think the lyrics, the music and the video make such a great entity, they really speak together. My top pick for 2019 so far! Delain are great and Charlotte is only getting better and better I think. If you want to check out more Symphonic/Epic metal with amazing vocalists, there's plenty but one that is underrated and often kind of forgotten is Luca Turillis Rhapsody. Check "Dark Fate of Atlantis" for example.
You guys should also check out #Amberian Dawn another female fronted Symphonic band, Capri has a great voice, Ladyhawke, The Court of Mirror Hall, Innuendo.
Haha, your looks when the music really kicks in - priceless. Almost as much fun as watching a Jinjer reaction. I think i had the same reaction - and i know that band for a long time. Do you know "Tell Me, Mechanist" from them? Another unusual heavy song, but really good.
Pinki and the Brain, that's a great name for the set.
To be honest, this was pretty sure one of Kels words directly after the song are one of the most impressive and moving speeches after a reaction I saw ever, just saying

Ah, now you are really starting to delve into the symphonic range. There's a ton of symphonic/epic rock that you are only starting to graze the surface on. Some of them are: Adagio,Aeon Zen, After Forever (Floor used to be their lead singer), Amaranthe, Apocalyptica, Axel Rudi Pell, Blind Guardian, Damnation Angels, Haggard, Helloween, Iced Earth, Kamelot, Krypteria, Lacuna Coil, Leaves' Eyes, Northern Kings, ReVamp (another of Floor's old bands), Rhapsody and Rhapsody of Fire, Silentium, Sonata Artica, Therion, Van Canto, and Withiin Temptation. I know this is alot and I could easily name off 100+ more. But this is a really good list to start with for this genre!
Thanks for the list, but you mist a important band for the scene EPICA with Simone Simmonds. Btw Simone in a longtime friend of Floor and they sing amazing together. What to think about Anathema also great to.
