OMG been waiting for more reviews on the DMP-A6 thank you been wanting to upgrade my old streamer it's between this and a ifi neo stream. Great review!
Quick question...when DMP-A6 is connected to an external DAC, is each music file (flac) served up to the DAC in its raw format? ie. 24bit 96Hz Currently I have all my music library sitting on a drive on my laptop and I usually connect via usb directly to the DAC; but for reasons unknown all music files get down-sampled to 16bit 44Hz. I have plenty of higher res files but never got to hear them in their native format. So if I install an SSD of my complete library into the DMP-A6, will the DMP-A6 send the proper signal/resolution to the DAC? I don't want any down-sampling or up-sampling.
Hi Sandu! Great review! When searching on the web for more info about the DMP-A6 I found there is a "Master Edition" with several upgrades and a larger price. Hope you can review it and compare to the DMP-A6. Thanks!

I`ve been waiting for this review since ASF published measurements of that unit. One question: did you try to use it with SSD installed ? If so, is there any sound difference between LAN(or wifi) and SSD?
Hi Piotr, Yes! There are differences. Storing lossless music locally (on SSD) and streaming via LAN adds a sense of calmness and rightfulness that simply, isn't present via WiFi streaming from different platforms. Via WiFi there is a slight veil over my music that slightly rolls off the frequency extremes: the sub-bass and the upper treble. The resolution gets a bump as well and if you want the absolute best performance out of it: then LAN and local music stored on an SSD is the way to go.
@@Soundnews I got this yesterday and I will be honest don't know a lot about audio. I put in the SSD up to the limit of 2TB and have been ripping CDs. I have a node 2i with the Pd creative power upgrade (from Poland) and linear power supply (Ali express). This was a huge upgrade from the standard, unmodded node 2i. I'd love to hear peoples thoughts if anyone has done a direct head to head comparison between a similarly modded node 2i and this nice looking Ever Solo streamer. So tempted to buy but not sure if it will sound better than my node
I am looking to buy one to find out because I heard no difference between my similarly upgraded node2i vs a stock node2i, when using as a transport only.
@@Eugene737 wow that's surprising. What amp and speakers do you have? I definitely heard a difference when doing the upgraded mods on my node. Bigger soundstage, more 3D and tighter bass. These were very real and noticeable differences. Could I also ask which mods you did on the node? Did you also have external linear psu?
@@sonicplayroompiano4302 Oh, I don't doubt that you heard a difference at all. I have been on the other side of the table where I clearly hear differences that others don't. Just goes to show you that we all hear differently. I have a Norma Audio PA-150 amp paired with a Rosso Fiorentino Pienza 2. The node2i. I swapped in the Pd Creative power supply + Sbooster BOTW P&P ECO MKII
Definitely worth upgrading. I got the master edition. I have similar setup as your and paired and use the Pontus II as DAC. The Eversolo sounds better in every way except the warms only the R2R Pontus II can provide. It seems to remove the blanket off the speakers. Bass notes are tighter, faster and noise floor dropped lower, just as when I added the linear power supply and noticed the silent/lower noise floor. The Eversolo lower the noise floor even more. The 2i with linear power supply + Pontus II still sound great with my SET driving the CW IV+REL sub. The Eversolo has more neutral sound than the Pontus II, which may not pair well with the super reviewing CW IV. The current setup on my A system is mainly for vocal music. The Eversolo is driving my b system in the garage; consists of Audio Research LS2, Parasound A21 and Definity BP20. I have driven that BP 20 with many types of amps for the past 30+ years. None can make it sounds as musical as the Eversolo.
The reason I'm asking is these statements in a dealers advertising: Support NFS, SMB, Web DAV, UPnP protocols to access storage devices shared in the LAN. Support built-in SMB network media sharing service for easy local media sharing.
I definitely know Zidoo because they make the best Android boxes. I'd love to have a streamer for Qobuz and also replace my old z9s Android box. Does both this and the NEO alpha allow regular Android app to be installed? Besides a 1-inch bigger screen, what are the notable feature differences between the two? Do they both use the superior 9038 DAC like my Oppo 205?
You mention in your review that you can download 3rd party apps like Apple music on to the DMP-A6 I was wondering if running the apple music app straight from the DMP-A6 can you get the full native support of 24 bit /192 kHz or are you still limited to Airplay max of 16 bit / 44.1 kHz ?
Right now the only way i can use Apple Music 24bit/192 kHz tracks available on the service is to use my iphone and connect by usb into my Bifrost 2 Dac which is not ideal for me and my current music streamer is a Zen Stream which only support airplay to stream Apple Music so if that right running apple music app from the DMP-A6 Android OS at hi-res then this will be my next music streamer
It does yes. I don’t use Apple Music but I tried Amazon music which works via the android interface and I got hi res quality. In the blurb on the website they state “Support Direct audio in 3rd party APPs (Apple Music hi-res direct output)”. I’m trying one for my review and looking at comments for research.
I have Zen stream with Pontus II. My Eversolo coming in June. Will let you know if big difference. My main reason to get it was they have app for Qobuz.
I have a YAMAHA CXA-5200 for my home theatre.. which uses ESS 384 kHz / 32-bit SABRE PRO Premier DAC™ ES9026PRO x 2 (for all channels incl. presence speakers). I can obviously Airplay 2 all my music to from my phone - however the amp would not appear to have the built in "connect" features that this unit has. My local content (1.5 tb of ALAC and higher bitrate ALAC rips) is on a Synology NAS and I use Itunes on a PC and also Plexamp for playback .. Of course, using a receiver I can also use Apple music (or other) atmos sources easily... Are the 2 DACS in this unit for stereo that much better that it would be worth purchasing this unit? I'm assuming the device won't passthrough Atmos to my amp for decoding? I'd envisage that I would connect the DMP-A6 via HDMI output to an input on the AMP, or better to use the XLR outputs?! Or Both....
Dear Sandu Vitalie, it is with great pleasure that I read and watch your reviews, congratulations on the work you have done which is of great quality. Could you compare the EverSolo DMP-A6 with the Cambridge Audio CXN V2? I think both belong to the same range of values.
I've owned the Cambridge and I thought it was very nice overall, but it is a pretty old unit at this point and still using older Wolfson Dacs and an old low resolution display. 13th Note compared the sound and the Eversolo seems to easily outclass it. ua-cam.com/video/3pursI-GtR4/v-deo.html
As DAC only units, R26 and A26 are outperforming the EverSolo unit, there is no question about it. However when it comes to streaming music, this is where DMP-A6 shines brighter than the sun. It's absolutely fantastic and I will be using it as a Roon endpoint,Tidal Connect & Qobuz Connect capable unit from now on.
@@Soundnews so can you clear up, would you pair Eversolo with R26 or leave R26 as Roon endpoint? Would adding Eversolo to the R26 lessen quality of sound, remain the same? Thanks
maybe of you upgrade the power supply on the bluesound it'll become closer. Vinshine audio has released an upgrade kit, and there are also alternatives within the eu, if it interests you.
@@BughunterX There's 2, one for a drive and one for Output. Currently I'm using the (bottom) USB output to my Denafrips Ponthus DAC. But it's my first day, and may just use the XLR's instead? Currently experimenting (that's why I'm here watching this video).
Love the review... question how did you get the music art to show on your TV... As I would like to get an A6 but as far as I'm aware it doesn't output a picture from hdmi. Thanks
He has responded to Clarice Carter regarding R26 or A26. According to him, Eversolo build-in DAC cannot beat R26 or A26 however using as a streamer is a great combination.
Question is does combination reduce performance rather than using Roon direct to R26. Running Roon thru Bluesound Node2i then thru R26 is not as detailed as R26 alone.
I don't think they work like a real VU meter works showing the average audio level. It's more like a PPM showing Peak Levels instead. Not accurate but looks pretty if that counts.

Yes...by using its USB output (as I have mentioned several times in the video).
Great Review 👍
sir, does its Dac sound better than the Topping D90 Dac?
I'm super interested with that kind of comparison too!
Thanks for the review. I wanted to be sure, the Lan connection is input only, no output? I have a R-26 & would like to connect via Lan.
The reason I'm asking is these statements in a dealers advertising:
Support NFS, SMB, Web DAV, UPnP protocols to access storage devices shared in the LAN.
You mentioned no remote control, so do we have to purchase the remote control separately?
The EverSolo app is the remote control.
They have mentioned they'll be coming out with a remote similar to the other Zidoo product remotes they have now.
On the manual File manager/zidoo/Movie menu is shown. But oob there are no avi codecs. Can a tv on the network play avi files saved on the eversolo?
You mention in your review that you can download 3rd party apps like Apple music on to the DMP-A6 I was wondering if running the apple music app straight from the DMP-A6 can you get the full native support of 24 bit /192 kHz or are you still limited to Airplay max of 16 bit / 44.1 kHz ?
This is really an interesting question. In Apple policy I can hardly imagine other services can use their platform and have native support
It is Android stuff. It should support hi-res like you are playing music from your Android device.
@@MrJerrypotter71 it should
It does yes. I don’t use Apple Music but I tried Amazon music which works via the android interface and I got hi res quality. In the blurb on the website they state “Support Direct audio in 3rd party APPs (Apple Music hi-res direct output)”. I’m trying one for my review and looking at comments for research.
Nicely Done.
Did you try the native DSD Multi-Channel output from the HDMI output?
Currently have a R26 paired up with a Zen stream, but I am now thinking this might be a good streamer upgrade over the Zen.
Honestly, this one gets my top recommendation without trespassing expensive & ridiculously expensive territory.
I have Zen stream with Pontus II. My Eversolo coming in June. Will let you know if big difference. My main reason to get it was they have app for Qobuz.
@@klepp19 June? Why have to wait for so long? We are now in the middle of May!
@@strongchallenger2269 That's what dealer said. First batch was sold out
@@klepp19 Wow! It must be a great product!
Can you set both the xlr and rca audio output simultaneously?
Yes
How do you think this unit compares to the Gustard R26 or A26? This looks very interesting and seems to have a lot more ability in the bass region.
@@Soundnews And there is no input to bring in a CD player into it also?
@@clarice1001nights If you have a CD transport with digital outputs, then you can connect it to DMP-A6 via optical or coaxial.
@@Soundnews any thoughts on Tidal Connect v Roon/Tidal?
@@Soundnews so can you clear up, would you pair Eversolo with R26 or leave R26 as Roon endpoint? Would adding Eversolo to the R26 lessen quality of sound, remain the same? Thanks
Very good price / quality.. I buy one, but it's not in stock, i need wait couple weeks.. I'm very courious..
Does this play Amazon Ultra HD like the WiiM?
Suppose A6 sounds good enough for Hegel H120+Kef_R5_Meta combo?
Is this going to outclass a Bluesound 2i and SMSL M500 MkII?
Easily! I'm keeping it.
maybe of you upgrade the power supply on the bluesound it'll become closer. Vinshine audio has released an upgrade kit, and there are also alternatives within the eu, if it interests you.
@@JoseFerreira-zb7wh Thats an option, any vendors in Europe you recommend?
@@ossiebacchus7110 PD Creative seems like a trusted seller.
I’d second easily better than a 2i in sound and build
Does this have any tone controls/eq ?
How is the DAC section compared to Gustard A22?
Is the DAC in the DAP-A6 as good or better sounding than the SMSL SU-9 ?
Have you seen the new Master ?
I would buy it but only in silver Pity
Is there a DAC mode, bypassing the preamp?
Yes, of course. You can disable the volume control, blasting maximum voltage as a normal DAC would do.
I can't get the VU meter to work, they stay down while playing music
Can i use the USB-C Port with a USB Stick, or just with a external Drive?
You can use a USB Stick only with the USB 3.0 OTG port. USB-C is a digital input (unlocking its USB DAC)
@@Soundnews I thought the other USB 3.0 slots were only ment as digital outputs.
@@BughunterX There's 2, one for a drive and one for Output. Currently I'm using the (bottom) USB output to my Denafrips Ponthus DAC. But it's my first day, and may just use the XLR's instead? Currently experimenting (that's why I'm here watching this video).
I'm surprised so many streamers do NOT have integrated CD rippers and memory storage.
A 4 tb m.2 is far better than integrated slow storage(which you'll get at this price).
Здравствуйте не подскажите какой CD привод подойдёт к eversolo DMP A-6 Master edition?
I am wondering if it can install YT! (UA-cam Music). That is an Android App with it's own APK. Would it work?
I bought this and have no idea how to use it. I crank the volume all up but no sound comes out of the unit wtf
Does anybody know how to fix album art not showing through airplay? Using Apple music or Amazon music.
So this device is not meant to power passive speakers… correct?
No
How do you compare this to the Fiio R7?
@@gynesschen7662 where did you read it please?
Please repeat the name of the Streamer / DAC. The start of the clip the music crackles, is too loud and you mumble the first sentence or so.
Hi Clarice, it was the Zidoo NEO Alpha which I reviewed here: ua-cam.com/video/tdKZi7Unun4/v-deo.html
Is their tone controls on this streamer
How many songs can the A6 index via SSD or SMB?
great review, as usually! :) pre-orderd mine and will replace my current D90 MQA DAC. I'm expecting not a major (if any) downgrade in sound quality
Wonder why you are replacing your D90 MQA DAC and choose Eversolo build-in DAC? Isn't separate component should sound better?
will keep the Topping DAC for an A/B testing, but if the differences aren't perceivable by me (vs the built-in DAC), I'll sell it :)
Pre-ordered from where?
Can it be controlled by Alexa
No remote!?
They've announced it's in the works and will be similar to their currently line of Zidoo remotes.
As preamp, Z8 or this one?
Can’t find one for sale!
Love the review... question how did you get the music art to show on your TV...
As I would like to get an A6 but as far as I'm aware it doesn't output a picture from hdmi.
Thanks
I’m tempted to use this as a streamer connected to a Gustard R26. Thoughts?
He has responded to Clarice Carter regarding R26 or A26. According to him, Eversolo build-in DAC cannot beat R26 or A26 however using as a streamer is a great combination.
Question is does combination reduce performance rather than using Roon direct to R26. Running Roon thru Bluesound Node2i then thru R26 is not as detailed as R26 alone.
@@jmp622 I guess I’ll find out
Very nice review. How does the streamer compare to the SOtM SMS 200 Neo (Ultra)?
Buy one and tell us.
The VU Meters don't work correctly. 🔈🔉🔊
I think probably it was not connect to a signal so it shows a demo of the vu
@@gynesschen7662 This is the 3rd review I've watched. They don't work correctly.
I don't think they work like a real VU meter works showing the average audio level. It's more like a PPM showing Peak Levels instead. Not accurate but looks pretty if that counts.
