    You sir are a f...n hero.. No bullshit, no 30 min video with 20 min talking about things no one gives a shit about.. Just straight to the point, simple step by step video that is easy to follow.. I wish everyone did tutorials like this.. Thank you, good man!

    You should, if you have time, make a video exactly like this one for everything you do to maintain your Bugeye. The pacing, style, illustration, and content is perfect. I've had mine since new, and it's been 6 years since I've replaced the plugs, and the Bugeye WRX has gone from the Internet's hottest forum topic to almost an old beater niche info market where you can't readily find out the things you barely remember talking about 10 years ago.
    Corner that market. This vid is incredibly helpful and easy to watch. Bravo.

      Thanks so much. Glad you found the video helpful. I'm trying to make more videos, but, time and finding things to fix are an issue. Haha

      Mine is currently sitting at a service station with a brittle, busted vacuum nipple on the intake hose and "rubber" PCV and vacuum lines that snap like candy-canes. After 12 years I can say that these cars are no spring chickens anymore, and finding things to fix on these wonderful cars is not gonna be hard in the future.
      I'm still on the original aging turbo, starter, and alternator. Good lookin' out, bro.

    8 yrs later and this is the best video ive seen of someone doing this so far. Showing exactly what tools to use, parts to remove and when, and then showing it getting put back together.
    Most videos are like "remove the airbox" does show how to safetly remove any of it, just skips to it being done.

    I tell ya, money has been way too tight over the last couple years, and your video's have helped me do quite a few things myself! Mad props to taking the time and effort to let us see what everything is and where they are located, plus a reassembly step instead of "now just do everything backwards" *End Video*

    A few things to move out of the way... You just need a childs hand to get between the frame ;-) Took me a few hours the first time I did this on the bugeye, then my friends bugeye it took us less then an hour. You just need to have the right combination of extensions, then remove ratchet as you back out so you don't get stuck on the frame ;-) I am sure the dealers or any mechanic with a hoist will just use a lift, remove motor mounts and tilt the motor with a milk crate to have full access without hitting the frame. Just did plugs on wife's new forester Lol, 45 degree angle SOHC, was a breeze compared to the bugeye, but its doable. Just take your time, great video!

    With the 2.5 turbo with variable valve timing that you find in the 2006 - 2008 Impreza and Forester, it is necessary to undo the engine mounts and jack up the engine to clear the frame to change the plugs and coils. One side at a time.

      zcamaross09 What size extention did you use with your rachet? I watched a diferent video and the guys said that a 7 1/4 " overall length(ratchet,sprk plug socket and extention) is needed.The reason I asked this is because there's no much room between the block and the chasis.I'm doing mine today and I wanto to have everything I need ready.

      zcamaross09 Thank you. I'm new at this..I just got a 2002 Subaru impreza and I like doing simple stuff by myself...Now, I just did the oil change and I have no idea way the dipstick shows empty when I poured 1 gallon of syntetic oil story goes like this...After I finished the oil change I checked the dipstick and it showed full . left it on the street while I did another oil chamge on my second car. I went back to the Subaru to check if once you start the car some or the oil goes to the new filter. and that's when I realized the fucking dipstick is dry. This is the second time this had happen. any ideas why it shows there's no oil? Thank you for taking time to answer my questions

    would old/bad plugs trigger 302 and 304 misfire codes?
    Thank you, your videos are some of the best on UA-cam.

    @MrSubaru1387 Relearn state?? Never heard of this. This makes me question... I have minor mods and a tune, if the battery is disconnected for too long will it mess with the tune?

    Can you do one on the fa20wrx

    Nice instructional. Curious as to why you explicitly say no anti-seize though.

      It inhibits the ground between the spark plug threads and the cylinder head. They're aluminum cylinder heads, different than if it had iron heads. It isn't used at the factory, isn't needed here.

    You going to need to replace those valve cover gaskets as well. They are leaking pretty good

      @MrSubaru1387  10 років тому +1

      Yes, they are. Well aware of the mess they are causing. I've only had the car for about 2 months. Will replace them and make a DIY video on it soon.

    hi mate... need to change my rocker cover gasket LH driver side.. now you removed the airbox etc to access the coil packs would this be the same procedure for the rocker cover to come off? not much space at all.. do you have a video?

    • @MrSubaru1387
      @MrSubaru1387  7 років тому

      +tro8p correct. Pretty much same procedure. Just remove both coils and the bolts for the rocker cover and you're there.

    Last time I checked under my Forester XT, it seemed like there's enough space to do this from down under and not having to disassemble the airbox, reservoir and battery. What's your take on this?

    MrSubaru: why did you say to NOT USE ANTI-SEIZE lubricant in your video? I'm about to do the plugs in my 2009 WRX for the first time. thanks for the helpful video. I should be able to recognize the coil packs easier now.

      +Phillip McLean anti-seize is not needed. It hinders the spark plugs ability to ground itself through the cylinder head. NGK spark plugs have a special seizure resistance coating on their threads as well so it's 100% not needed.

      Nice! Good to know. I'm definitely using OEM plugs by NGK. Read that they're so specced out to this car's needs that it is foolish to try and get something "better", and your reply furthers that sentiment.
