Great video. I appreciate how in depth you go with the horn comparisons. I have a 1966 rotary valve trumpet from Ukraine and a 1958 bessom from USA. Both very different sounds but professional models made today really make all the difference especially when it comes to tuning and intonation.
The fact that you got a Reynolds Professional for $40 is a steal.
eBay! Has a pretty significant dent, which I think is why they were just basically trying to get rid of it. Still plays great tho. Has that old school bright sound. Love it.
“Plays great” is relative. I don’t really play it on gigs anymore, but I played it on some NOLA brass band stuff for a little while in the 2010s.

Man, the way you play this P horn is amazing. Also, your shake is so neat - been playing trpt for 2 years and I can’t figure out how to do this shake thing, at all ! Any tips ? Thx again for the video :-)
Thank you! I do love that Pcornet. Very cool horn. I was playing it this morning, actually! To develop your shake, you should do slow lip trills back and forth. Start with G in the staff up to C. Back and forth, smooth, no tongue. Use a metronome and see if you can gradually speed it up. I’ll post a video going more in-depth on this soon!
It *should* get easier as you get higher. Use alternate fingerings (valve 2 and 3 for Ab and C, and go up chromatically) - more soon!!
@@AdamMeckler thx dude. I’ve tried that but I guess I don’t get the technique or even the feeling of it... sounds like sloppy trills and not that fast and clean movement... But I’m the stubborn type so I’ll get to it :-)

Hahaaaa thanks Mark! My family is from Pittsburgh, actually. I was born in MN the year my parents moved from Pitt. It’s in my blood, baby! My kids even wore the Steelers onesies I wore when I was a baby. Ha!
