I love Rob's expression every time Zuff says something totally random and unhinged, and looks to Bryce for support... and Bryce seems to be mostly chilling and absorbed in watching the movie. Rob is the sanity barrier 😂😂

i can't help but imagine how much of zuff's comments end up on the editing floor just b/c they have to stay within copyright length etc.. it'd be a great idea if they had their editor make a compilation of all the rando comments, esp the stuff cut out, and ofc Rob's hysterical face reactions to them.. i'd be so here for it lol

Heartbreaking/creepy discovery after watching Juno a couple of times: it's mentioned at some point in the film that they've had a few other pregnant teens back out of giving them their baby without telling them why & with the whole plot of Mark/Juno I think we know why 😬
So that’s why Vanessa is kinda strict in the beginning like breaking up the jam session. Also when Vanessa asks “what did you do?” To mark 100% knowing it’s him not Juno
I never put that together before. Cold feet is super common but damn, I never put all of it together.
Maybe but it's also true that many birth mother's back out of adoption... either changing their minds the longer they are pregnant, or seeking a reversal after the baby is born.
eek, i always just assumed that they were talking about in general women deciding at the last minute to not go through with the adoption and that her breaking up their "jam session" was because she wants him to grow up already...but this is a very plausible explanation/interpretation too.
@@nerdygirltravels what you’re saying makes a lot of sense i can definitely see it both ways! I wasn’t aware of how often bio parents petition to reverse an adoption until I started planning for my own family
Biological moms change their minds a lot with adoptions. Once they see the baby, it's hard to go through with it.
the relationship between juno and her stepmom is so precious. the stepmom very clearly loves juno and we can see that right off the bat, even if juno can't since she's a teenager and mistakes bren's tough love approach for indifference. it's such a realistic dynamic and i love that bren isn't an antagonist

This movie was filmed at my old house that I just moved from a few months ago, I lived there for 26 years. For literal years people would come sit on the front steps and reenact the guitar scene at the end and even a couple months before my family moved out there was a couple that did the guitar scene in 2023
I was in high school when this came out and the soundtrack to this movie was everything

Really interesting that you guys thought Vanessa was off. I feel like the girls I went to see it in the theatre with all knew immediately that Mark was weird and not wanting a baby and that Vanessa desperately wanted a baby.
This is so interesting - I remember seeing this as a teenage girl and immediately being so weirded out by him. Kind of sad that we have to develop a creep-o-meter so young.

I think both are true. I’m a guy around their age and it was abundantly clear that Mark was a creep to me, however Vanessa is not exactly the most normal expectant mother in the world either…
As a teen girl watching the movie I thought Vanessa was too uptight and Mark was just "a cool dad" in their first encounter. I did quickly change my mind after he didn't establish boundaries with Juno, and then it just got worse. I do think there was supposed to be a flip in the audience's expectation at first, but nowadays people are way more aware of grooming, at least more than I or my peers ever were in the 2000s.

I completely forgot about how trippy the language is and how sketchy Jason Bateman's character is. I forgot because I really like him as an actor and podcast host. Also forgot this was the first thing I saw Elliot Page in. I like so many of these actors. Good weird movie.
Michael Cera and Jason Bateman were also in Arrested Development together and played a father and son. You guys should check it out it's super underrated.
The mom is Allison Janney. She's been in a ton of things, but you've seen her in The Help. One of her best movies is a hidden gem called Drop Dead Gorgeous. It's a black comedy film set in a small town in Minnesota. Hilarious.
I LOVE Drop Dead Gorgeous! Allison Janney is excellent in that movie.
She won an Oscar for playing a terrible mom in I, Tonya

Diablo Cody dialogue is soo specific and so recognizable! Jennifer’s Body & Juno are both iconic examples of it, I love it.

Now looking,I never knew how inappropriate Mark and Juno’s relationship was - geez. To be young and unaware. Like I knew it was wrong because he was married but I watched this movie at like 14 and thought Juno and Mark were two friends
Yep, and that's why grooming unfortunately works many times. Young girls are just innocent, like the attention, and the thrill of an older guy. It's not until age and/or experience when you realize the danger. I'm so glad these three young men recognize how inappropriate it is.
Can we get subtitles for Zuff? I'm genuinely curious to know what he mumbles about lol.
I adore this movie! I was Juno's age when it came to theaters. The "Kraken from the sea" line was actually my senior quote too! Such an amazing time!
There were some deleted scenes that showed that Vanessa didn't think that highly of Juno, and during filming they realized they needed to take those scenes out, and they also added the mall scene where she feels the baby kick to make her character more likable.

I think you guys would love another hilarious teen pregnancy movie called Saved! Its got Macauley Culkin, Mandy Moore, Jena Malone, a pile of evangelicals and its so underrated

I remember when this came out! This movie was super special to me! I remember how iconic the hamburger phone and the stank face was in school!
I adore the mall scene with juno and Vanessa. I ve also really come to adore to family dynamic as well. Good stuff!
although i was like 5 when this came out, i listened to the soundtrack in high school before even watching the movie and now whenever i listen to it, it brings me back to 4 years ago :( i miss it so much
Love this movie I grew up watching it and I really like the story it was real, raw, complicated and hilarious. Also my favorite quote from this movie has to be “That ain't no Etch-a-Sketch. This is one doodle that can't be undid, Homeskillet.” Literally had me wheezing when I first heard it. 😂

I watched this movie the weekend before I found out I was pregnant with my first. Now it serves as a bookmark to my life, before and after. Great movie. Loved the lingo. But then I have always loved unique dialog (hello Buffy)
The bear thing is kinda true, there is a saying to remember when that situation applies: "If it's black fight back, if it's brown get on the ground, if it's white go towards the light"

Thank you to the patrons for recommending this and thanks to you guys for reacting to it! There's hardly any reaction videos on UA-cam for it at all. I used to watch this all the time in high school but haven't until now. I forgot how creepy Mark's behavior was, my skin is still crawling. The soundtrack is still immaculate, imo. Even though some of the dialogue and humor is painfully early 2000's Tumblr-esque, I still think it's good time.

there's a bunch of similar veined movies like that one now thinking about it.. b/c i used to have a weird knack for finding weird quirky movies growing up. Ghost World with Steve Buscemi being the 'weirdo'.. remember that one? Election with Matthew Broderick.. or Heathers.. the original Mean Girls with Christian Slater.. awesome nostalgic comment. Ghost World would prob be most similar though.

There were plenty of parodies for that part. Digimon covered it, Harry Potter I think and many others. But mainly Digimon. I watched the parody years ago. Kenyako was Bleaker and Juno and Sorato were the adopted parents. Even though the husband actually leaves her in the actual movie.
