I have nightmares and have been sleeping badly at night since I became aware of what is going on. Since I was young. I went to great lengths to educate myself on the holocaust, I had read and went to trips to holocaust museums and went even to visit Anne Frank's house in Amsterdam. I had read her diary at school. I cannot really live with this horrible guilt and helplessness. How could we possibly imagine what it must be like for a child to have limbs amputated without anaesthesia? What future can that innocent soul look forward to?

Not only is the pain excruciating while it’s being amputated. It’s excruciating afterwards even with pain killers. I know about how much pain there was afterwards. Luckily I was in a first rate American hospital and it hurt constantly. I’m embarrassed that I’m an American.

That’s the thing. Maybe, logistically, solving the issue at this point is bound to be complicated. Or maybe finding a long-term resolution of the conflict in a way that is fair to the most number of people is certainly going to be a difficult political task.
But morally? There’s simply nothing complicated about it. Literally at ALL. It’s impressively simple, actually. And this endlessly repeated line of “how complicated it is” alone has been one of the most effective propaganda efforts of this entire thing. The history? Sure, that’s complex, but only as much as history tends to ever be. The morality of the situation, however, is incredibly simple. Unusually uncomplicated, frankly.

That the extreme right wing - the settler Zionists- run the country, have taken power from the educated elite, which is why Netanyahu is trying to weaken the judiciary. Chomsky says that once Israel is seen to have no legitimate judiciary they are open to outside independent investigation, which would have serious consequences for them.

The International Community came together 75 years ago to let Israel have their own state, so who are they to say another people isn't allowed to have their own state either? They should be the last ones that are able to put a stop to somebody having their own state. Because they were just allowed to have their own State not that long ago so how in the hell can they just say who can and can't have their own state? VERY brief correction, Kyle -- I absolutely adore you and your work -- HOWEVER: the United States (on paper, "officially") doesn't send Israel white phosphorous munitions for the express purpose of melting Gazan children's skin & muscle tissue down to the bone. They send it to the IDF, supposedly, so that its extremely bright, white-burning flames can be used to illuminate the battlefield (i.e. the whole of Gaza) -- ostensibly making it "easier" for the military to hit Hamas targets and *not* maim/murder/permanently disfigure innocent humans. I don't think it's even accurate to compare leftists who protest actual hate speech on their schools' campuses, to conservatives boycotting an artist for raising money for Palestinians... Kyle has said before that direct threats are not protected free speech, and hate speech against muslims or transexuals etc. is often directly threatening to them... My leg had to be amputated after a car wreck. Because of the blizzard of 2017 the amputation team was delayed by a week. My leg rotted. My partner has not touched me since. I don't mean in a sexual way. He has not put a hand on me. My family has not looked at me the same since. The nurses literally talked about hanging air fresheners from the ceiling. Since then I have only left the house for doctors appointments and my parents funerals. I'm 56 and will never recover. I cannot comprehend what that has done to that child. My heart breaks for that family.
