- In today's video we're expanding the Did You Know? series and taking a look back at WWE Smackdown Here Comes The Pain, including all of the secrets, easter eggs and hidden content it contains!
In the video we take a full look back at the game and all of the new features that it introduced, as well as secrets and easter eggs, plus all of the hidden content including removed Superstars such as Jeff Hardy, Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior!

Bob Orton and Dusty Rhodes are introduced that way too in SVR 2010.
But isn't Steamboat listed as one too? He was in the HOF by that point.

The very first SmackDown game was the very first WWE game that I owned since I got it when I was a kid back in the early 2000s.

They showed Jeff Hardy in the trailer he definitely should have made it into the game. That is probably the coolest version I've ever seen of him too.
Honestly I would wanna know why older WWE games have more graphics ex: You can see yourself breaking from hell in a cell but now the top just disappears
I've noticed that a lot lately, the older games seem to have a lot of love and care put into them, whereas the current games feel very rushed

That's what happens when you have hard yearly releases. Plus 2K also has the NBA license as well so they consider that more of a priority which is why they feel more polished, at least compared to the WWE games.

I remember I got it for xmas too. I was 8 and I was the happiest kid ever 😭 so many late late nights with my cousins on this game
What i liked the most about the game is that the gameplay was fair. Lesser characters would get hurt easier and submit faster then better characters but if you had skill and you timed it right you could still consistently counter. We got to a point where we usually just random selected our characters because you still had a shot.

Still pissed today that they removed Jeff Hardy. That was going to be his best game. Best entrance and most interesting part of his career. The game would have been perfect.
Jeff’s overrated. Him not being on the game really doesn’t make that big of a difference.
It looks like Jeff Hardy was in the game until very late in development as his render on the character select screen can also be seen in the manual for the game

The best wrestling game ever made!!!!
I loved the gameplay and season mode in these games. If I want anything out of a new WWE game I would want a season mode with the creativity of Here Comes the Pain’s Season mode, I would want the gameplay style as well as the Camera Cuts like we had in Here Comes the Pain, I would want GM Mode to return for the more seasoned players, I would want Story Designer back, I would want Universe Mode to feature the ability to assign any Superstar as a GM of any Show (even created ones), I would want to see the storylines made by the devs, I would want the ability to make our own stories as well as a way of implementing those stories into Universe for Rivalries, I want tournaments in Universe, I want Custom Music back, and FINALLY I would want a fully fleshed out roster where people are not being removed with live updates from the devs for things like new attires, new moves, new trons, and new entrance animations.

Hmm...facinating, but I think you forgot 1 glitch. You may aware if you try Eddie “rope splash” (I forgot the real name). It made you stand outside the ring, if you’re attacked during outside the ring (Cage Match, Iron Man Match, any match that keep you inside the ring exclude Royal Rumble). While you’re outside, you could take any weapon and throw it to the ring.
I honestly miss the Bra & Panties match in WWE games.....

Awesome vid Smacktalks! I enjoyed findkng iut about these secrets and other stuff and I loved playing HCTP and agree that it's definitely enjoyable. Though IN MY OPINION, SvR '05 is my favourite wrestling game ever.

One thing of note, Create an Animation was introduced in SmackDown! Just Bring It as only Create A Taunt before being expanded into Create an Animation in SmackDown! Shut Your Mouth.
I loved here comes the pain... I just wish we could get a full on ruthless aggression simulator or showcase mode from the years 2002 to 2007 all the biggest and best matches but we won't. Attitude era we've seen 10000 times it's overrated in my opinion, it was good but everyone forgets aboit ruthless aggression it was such a good time for wrestling.
Pretty much my first obsession to a wwe game, I think the graphics made me prefer them over ps1 era games

Amazing how basic this game was yet it was so good.
Some tricks you can do is hold grapple on an opponent while on the ground and strike them infinitely. The flying spears move are also uncounterable so you can abuse them all the time

Shut your mouth, Here Comes the pain, Wrestlemania 2000, WWF No Mercy, WWF Know your role, Svr 2005, WWE Day of Reckoning, Svr 2006 and Svr 2007. My all time favorites.

It sucks that this game had no commentary, but it is one of the best in the PS2 era. However, my favorite SmackDown game out of this era would probably be SVR 2010.
i had no idea fans rate this game so highly..personally its the best wresting game ever made and i still play it today on pc through emulation.

There’s also a hidden story …when you’re a challenger the champion will have a twin and switch places and roll you up.

I remember the 1st time I loaded the game up, 1st game was Elimination Chamber & I got busted open by The Iron Sheik, it was 1 of the most surprising & memorable gaming moments I'd had.

The lack of commentary was honestly a good thing.
Not only did you not have to put up with commentary getting old after just a couple of days of playing, as is usually the case, but it also kept better parity between CAWs and in-game wrestlers. It also made Season Mode more immersive, as having repeated commentary that doesn't mention any of the ongoing story can really take you out of it. Lack of voice acting also allowed them to put a greater amount of variety into Season Mode in general, as it's easier to put in a lot of different text based scenarios that also reuse existing animation, than to have to bring people in to voice act everything (also allows them to make quick changes deep into development, which in and of itself allow them more time to add more stuff).
What I'm trying to say is: more wrestling games should skip on using any voice acting (outside of wrestler grunts and crowd noise, obviously). It simply makes for a more flexible and less repetitive experience, and makes the game less restrictive on the dev side, too.

I admit that was one of my few problems with HCTP, along with the lack of ring announcing, and some of the CAW features and original entrances from SYM being taken out.
HCTP remastered with an updated roster while still having this roster and some aweome wwe legends would be amazing.

You could do the same in Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth except it was the VIP Room and you talked to either co-owner Flair or McMahon with the SP, title shot, and trade options the same.
And Create an Animation mode was in the SYM as well. And it even was in Smackdown 2 and 3 is some form as Create a Taunt.

HCTP was the "No Mercy" of its generation, and 2K couldn't create as good a wrestling game in their wet dreams.
