Her goal with this album is to bring "Death" closer to people, meaning that it's not something we should be scared or afraid of. Since it's something no one really awaits, she reminds us that something more beautiful could follow after life on this earth. She even had an interview and explained the meanings of each songs. It was interesting to read about it and also see her intention, what exactly she wanted us to feel listening to the songs.
She’s actually making this into a movie like her last album so all the songs may not go directly into the next one perfectly bc they’re into scenes that connect them
@@fruitypebbles5686if i remember correctly, i think she said that the movie will incorporate the songs but they will also have their own seperate videos
On the tracks that don’t sonically transition into the next song, there are sounds that directly correlated to the titles of the next song. For example, the shower sounds at the end of “Faerie Soirée”alludes to the next song, “Light Shower” which wraps with insect-like noises and is followed by “Spider Web” and so on. The last three don’t follow this patter, as they are the deluxe tracks.
@@MysticaI_Orbvoid kinda transitions to tunnel vision indirectly, it just ends in silence, and Tunnel Vision doesn’t have any instrumental at the beggining, it’s just silence with her vocals
At the end of Leeches it almost sounds like two people arguing through a wall and then the next track is "Battle of the Larynx." I can already see the visuals when she finally (hopefully) makes a movie or music video for them.
I can’t tell if that is a joke, but you realize how serious of an allegation that is right? Not everything is about Oliver tree. She’s already made it clear that they have already ended their relationship on good terms. Don’t make assumptions without any hard proof
I love the way she felt the songs inside her while listening, it's iconic the way she reacts to the songs. Even being Brazilian and understanding very little English, I managed to understand exactly what she wanted to say and what she felt, really the best reaction I've seen from this album.❤
The concept of the album is the afterlife and the process your soul goes through until it’s rebirth. That’s why the first song is death and the last song is womb and it’s a perfect loop cause death is life and life is death. Powder, Pluto and Sirens are part of the deluxe version. The voice effects are used cause she’s singing from another dimension. It’s based on the stages of the afterlife described in books about past life regressions and hypnotherapy and to those titles she wrote lyrics that also have meanings in our day-to-day lifes. I know you said you wouldn’t do it, but her first album is based on childhood themes and she develops the story of a character that is born on that album and dies on Portals so I strongly recommend you check that out. It has a deluxe version too with 3 extra songs. It’s worth it!
15:41 YOUR SINGING GIRL ITS AMAZING OMG!!! But my personal opinion is that bro i just i love this album light shower reminds me of me and my friends and gf's and yk our relationship every time i listen to it it does feel like a long lasting hug. But for me battle of the larynx, womb, faerie soiree and void are my top favorites. Portals has to be the best album yet tbh. Also thats just my opinion!
so for the song spiderweb the reason why it sounds like beatboxing is beacause the producer cj baran actually used his MOUTH to make the beat which gave it that "spidery" feel :)
very interesting to hear the perspective of someone who isn’t necessarily a diehard fan (like myself on this album; I was just at the Tampa 06/20 concert a few days ago 🙈🙈) and the energy was FELT!! such a good reaction :D I really liked this album. was never a major melanie fan but this album really did it for me. love the concept and concepts are super important for me. I love light shower too, void is a fave for me as well and so is nymphology. It's supppper catchy. This is my personal favorite album of 2023, all these songs are helping me through so much and I can relate to each and every single tune in one way or another
All her music tells a story. This is the last part of a trilogy. This character is called Crybaby. This is all about afterlife, the first album is Crybaby being born and their childhood, and k-12 is her growing through society/school systems and growing up. You should definitely check out her out. Her first album is only just music videos and her K-12 is a movie. She plans on doing both for Portals 💗
Someone recently related the aesthetic of the character and it’s movements os almost reminiscent of mrs. piggy and the muppets and it makes so much sense now
you should do more of her, all her albums are very different, crybaby is the start of this trilogy which ends with portals following her character "crybaby"
Since your new to Melanie Martinez if you had started with her first album cry baby then listening/watch her second album k-12 (it a movie too) also her ep after school you would understand portals more ❤ love this reaction.
this album has most definitely been a personal fav of mine since it came out. But i loved your reaction and attention to detail. Will most def be subbing
BTW the reason there's a bunch of effects on her voice during POWDER is to help u visualize what it's like to be on drugs, basically high, since that's what the songs about.
The sad fact about Portals the album and the movie she will stop the crybaby trilogy and make other music (dif concepts). She was planing to make a perfume probablly it will be released at the premiere of the movi that will come out around 2024-2025 (sorry for my bad english)
I love seeing you react and getting your raw reaction, I’d love if you reacted to Ethel Cains album Preachers Daughter. It’s a slower, moodier, and darker album (fair warning) but the lyrics are beautiful and poetic. Would love to see what your opinion is about this album. 😇

Hayyy DJ Kim B!! Would you be interested in reacting to Kim Petras' new album Feed the Beast? So much versatility with emotional songs, hard hitting bangers and some fun europop.
A lot of these songs are about her abusive ex Oliver Tree. Also the audio at the end of leeches is a recording she took secretly of him yelling at her when he came home drunk.
You realize how serious of an accusation you’re making right? You’re making random assumptions and believing something that has barely any hard proof. You’re no better than ppl believing Melanie raped someone. Yet you call yourself a “fan
At the end of leeches is melanies ex (oliver tree) he was abusive to her etc. that was him shouting at her💔 and mooncycle (the whole song) its her reply to oliver trees song that talks abt her.. not the nice type😢
IMO, this album sucks. Production sounds washed out, concept unoriginal and the sounds dont fit the „interesting“ visuals. a couple songs i find somewhat listenable but thats just IMO❤️
