Just lost my dad,,this brings tears of joy to my eyes. Dad would listen to other bands the shake his head and say they ain’t no Flatt and Scruggs I’ll tell that !
What pisses me off they give bands that don't deserve entertainer of the Year the award but they wont give it to a band like this that deserves it 💯%%%
Thank the good Lord we were able to take our Dad to see you guys live in Durham NC and Danville VA on the last couple tours. He passed away July 26, 2019. These shows were incredible. He’s picking with you all right now. Thank you Earls!!
These guys make me feel young again. I'm back in the early 60s listening to Flatt & Scruggs every morning on the air castle of the South AM650 WSM at 5:30 a.m.
Wow! Just innocently stumbled onto this. Im 60 and was raised on Flatt and Scruggs. Im going to play this for my Dad the next time I see him. I will be floored!
Keith, may I ask you a question? I’m Around 1971, I was fortunate to attend a concert @ the Lincoln Memorial in one of the earliest Smithsonian Folk Festivals. I am quite I saw Bill Monroe and his band. Maybe Lester Flatt and the Nashville Grass. Maybe Earl Scruggs and Friends. I remember “The Orange Blossom Special!” I WAS TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY BY BLUEGRASS, a style of American music that I had NEVER heard before. ***Keith, do you or anyone else know who might have played in this awesome concert at the Lincoln Memorial, early Summer 1971 or 1972. The online files for the early Folk Festivals are very spotty ~ I cannot find a concert program or other list online. Thank you! Yes, the wonderful video is NEW to me today, and I also just subsed to this channel.
Went backstage at the Paramount in Bristol VA/TN. These guys were awesome. After the concert. I stood and talked to Charlie, Johnny, and Shawn. They needed to close the building. Shawn was awesome.
I live and grew up in Arkansas, just down the road from where Shawn Camp lived. I too play and sing. I use to watch Shawn play Fiddle at Wooten Bro Bluegrass shows when he was a teen. Shawn nails it with his singing. Shawn along with Jerry, and the rest. Lester and Earl are looking down and smiling, saying, you boys are doing a mighty Fine job. Way to go Earls of Leicester! None better!
I'm an old guy that was raised on Flatt & Scruggs and to me this is such a joy to listen to! I hear so much of the things they played in this! I met Flatt and Scruggs both but it was after they split. keep on rockin this guys this is greatness!

One of the finest concert videos i've ever seen. Thanks to Jerry Douglas wo brought together some of the best bluegrass musicians alive. Go on boys for more Flatt & Scruggs tunes!!!
Charlie Cushman is playing Earl Scruggs' RB-75 he recorded Bluegrass Breakdown with, Jerry Douglas is playing Josh Graves' dobro he played during his entire stint with the Foggy Mountain Boys, and Johnny Warren is playing his dad's (Paul Warren's) fiddle he played with the Foggy Mountain Boys. Doesn't get any more "accurate" than this...
When I was eight or nine years old I first heard Flat and Scruggs on the Opry while sitting on our front porch thru the window screen, (we didn't have AC in the 60s) when Earl picked his banjo I was hooked, swore one day I'd have a 5 string, it took until High School to acquire one! I just heard that same drive and inflection when these fellas played, so yes guy's you truly have achieved what you set out to accomplish! Awesome musicians and Bluegrass perfection!
This is the most refreshing blend of Bluegrass that I’ve heard in many years. It proves true to the old cliche that says, “what used to be in style, will be in style again one day if you wait long enough!” .. I’ve been performing myself professionally on Guitar, Five String Banjo, Fiddle and other instruments since the early 70s when I was in high school. In 1978 my family (The Rader Family) built, owned and operated the Ocean Opry Show Theatre at Panama City Beach, FL from 1978 - 2005. We booked hundreds of major acts during our 27 years and also appeared as the Rader Family 200 nights a year in our own venue. My dad instilled for us to always take pride and pay tribute to the pioneers of the music industry. . I’d also like to say thank you to the great WSM Hall of Fame disc jockey, Eddie Stubbs. Mr. Stubbs introduced this incredible All Star group to the world a few years ago on one of his featured evening shows recorded live from the Country Music Hall of Fame. Most of those programs now exist on the WSM phone APP. If you love classic country, the Grand Ole Opry and even today’s records, then do your self a big favor and get the WSM Phone APP installed on your phone. Click on the APP, and then Click on Archives, and then scroll down to where it says, “An intimate evening with Eddie Stubbs.” .. Proceed and scroll down to the program entitled ‘The Earls of Leicester.’ .. Tap on it with your finger and let it play. I can guarantee you, that you’ll be entertained as you listen to the program. Eddie Stubbs speaks about the history of Flat and Scruggs and each of these gentleman in the group talk about how they influenced them as kids growing up in their respective home towns. Jerry Douglas’ great idea of paying tribute to Flat and Scruggs was beyond genius. The recorded program was a magical evening. Each musician spoke of how the Foggy Mt Boys inspired them when they were kids growing up. .. Eddie has since retired, but he will always be one of my favorites. Stubbs is nothing less than an encyclopedia of Country, Bluegrass and Gospel Music, and he’s a great Fiddle player himself. .. I’ve listened to that program over and over while traveling down the highway and I never get tired of it. I hear something new every time. It brings joy to my life! My only complaint about the APP is that you can’t rewind it at all. I wish that could be changed for all of us that love the music.
The earls of Leicester Do really well I’m glad I found this on UA-cam I got all their CDs I’m glad they made a recording of this I’d like to have it on DVD thank you
We saw these guys a few years ago at Hiawassee Ga. Man, what a performance. Don't know who had the most fun the band or the audience . Got dizzy trying to count all the g runs Shawn was firing. Keep them coming.
Brings tears to my eyes they are so good. This is a childhood favorite...before I even knew what in the world they were talking about. Nothing about it that isn't perfect.
Wow found this by accident and im glued! Love real country music and bluegrass wouldnt be my favourite genre but it sure will be now. Such wonderful musicians lovely harmony pleasant people who clearly love what they do. Saw Jerry many years ago in Ireland adore his unique sound which made every record he was on stand out. Lovely he did this with his Dad in mind. My late Dad and I shared our love of great pure country music and he would have loved this! He gets to jam with the greats in heaven.! CC 🇮🇪
So many groups take this music, change things a little and think they’re improving it. This music can’t be improved because it was perfect as it was originally done. You guys are just fabulous.
I absolutely love you guy's I can listen to you all day and never get tired of it you guy's are just amazing & Johnny is just phenomenal the way he play's that fiddle sounds just like his dad I can't wait to see ya'll live someday!

What can you say, the technical expertise required to perform this type of music!, It cuts heads real fast.... Musicians know it! pretenders may mock it! But again, cuts heads real fast! Awesome!
Authentic !!! Heartfelt and just good ole country bluegrass music =) Good solid rhythm & clean timing. Just the best . My life's work. Would not change it for anything.
kind of useless to proclaim these guys the best on the planet, but...world class musicians, unearthly harmonies, mixed with the spot-on vocals of Shawn Camp---who could argue?
Saw y’all at Merlefest, truly one of the finest performances that I have ever heard! Thank you for how y’all treat this wonderful music. Just like watching Earl and Lester in their prime. Thank you so much!!!!
I cannot express how much I enjoyed this tremendous showcase of talent, honoring the music many of us love, respect and revere. Thank you for posting this gem of a performance.
Seriously some of the best bluegrass recorded
Sure wish Nashville would find its roots again. This music is the embodiment of true, pure country. Thanks y'all

Yes, the wonderful video is NEW to me today, and I also just subsed to this channel.
These fellas are the best thing going in bluegrass currently and mainly because they are reaching back to its roots.
Went backstage at the Paramount in Bristol VA/TN. These guys were awesome. After the concert. I stood and talked to Charlie, Johnny, and Shawn. They needed to close the building. Shawn was awesome.
This is truly one of the best concert renditions on UA-cam out there - great band, great format, great story and great music!
Great just the best music ever

I've talked with Charlie Cushman down to earth great attitude. And this one of the Greatest Bluegrass Bands today
I love how Charlie can play songs like Flint Hill Special and Earl's Breakdown perfectly without D-tuners
I especially love the call and response of banjo and fiddle on "I'll Go Stepping". Very traditional. Kudos all around.
One of the finest concert videos i've ever seen. Thanks to Jerry Douglas wo brought together some of the best bluegrass musicians alive. Go on boys for more Flatt & Scruggs tunes!!!
I hope they keep playing this is awesome my grand children fell in love with them. And wow it blew my mind.

Incredible!
I’m late to the party, but that’s no RB-75. It’s a Granada…
The singing on "What's Good For You" was awesome!
This really does bring back memories of going to see Flatt and Scruggs in New Haven Ct.about 1962 with my Dad and his lead guitar player Dan Bushey
When he started down the neck during Earl's breakdown, it brought tears to my eyes😢.
FINALLY, somebody is picking like Earl❤
I saw shawn camp back in about 1992-93 at Ponderosa Park here in Ohio...great show! Been a fan since his solo country album release.
