This is by far THE BEST youtube video on the subject. Thanks for posting. I still don't get the major interval in a minor chord but I'm going with you on that one. Smells like a third to me.
Pretty good presentation. But I want to add that the "major" vs "minor" shape you describe, can be viewed opposite to the way you describe it, so that the angled two-note shape is the major form. This is reflected by the pattern; (working your way up a major scale) first a (lone) major chord, then 2 minor chords, followed by two major chords, then two minor chords, then the octave major chord. So the 1st major chord, is surrounded by two minor chord shapes both above and below the 1 chord. The same way you show your pattern repeating the major pairs and minor pairs, yet you have the lone chord as 'minor'. Follow? Also another important reason for using the two string harmonies is the ability to easily two bend strings, while bending three is tough.
