Mazroui came on a free transfer, so commercially there is everything to say for selling him. If you were doubtful because of their injury record, maybe you would have a point.

Shaka said it best. De Ligt was 19 when he went to Juventus and had Chellini and Bonnuci in front of him. He then went to Bayern and they’ve had problems finding there best defence. I have no doubt De Ligt will succeed at United.

On his day, Matthijs De Ligt remains one of the best defenders in the world when he’s at his best. There are some doubts surrounding his potential move to Manchester United is because as good of a player he is, he’s very injury prone and he has regressed massively since his Ajax days as it didn’t work out for him at either Juventus or Bayern Munich as he has been unable to find a certain level of consistent and he has made some questionable career choices and he also can’t get a game on the Netherlands national team as even though they have a lot of elite defenders, at his age given the amount of transfer fees he’s accumulated, he is in his prime. It’s easy to forget that he’s still only 25 years old and he has been around forever and he is a great defender and he has already won a league title in 3 different leagues (Erderversie- Ajax, Bundesliga- Bayern Munich, Serie A- Juventus), I’m not trying to say that this streak of league titles will continue in the premier league for Manchester United, on paper it’s a good signing for all parties involved.
In that position, there isn’t enough quality in terms of their squad depth because going from Lisandro Martinez to Harry Maguire Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans is a massive downgrade and when he missed a lot of games with injuries, this was obviously a big drop off in quality and this hurt them a lot and going into next season, Leny Yoro, their big money signing has been ruled out until late October as a result of the injury that he picked up in preseason, Martinez is their best defender, but there’s some question marks as to whether or not he could stay healthy after an injury plagued season and what’s going to happen if he’s injured again. De Ligt is injury prone himself, assuming he’s available and they don’t have any of their first choice defenders, he’ll be a starter when everyone is healthy; they have a good enough center back who showcases his best ability on a given day. He’s very strong and physical excellent with the ball at his feet good in winning aerial duels and he suits how ten Hag wants the team to play when they’re trying to build their attack from the defense. Not to mention that he’s reunited with his former Ajax manager in Erik ten Hag and maybe it could be a sign of him rejuvenating his career at Manchester United.

Wan-Bissaka is not an excellent player. That's why he's getting sold for a measly £17m. He's good at slide tackles. He's a decent one-on-one defender. He's terrible at defending his post on corners (which is a key part of a full-back's job - he's cost his team quite a few goals because of that), and he's completely useless going forward from an attacking point of view. Oh and he's a quite average passer of the ball and is not someone who will carry the ball into the opposing half either.
I get it if you support Man Utd and you want to support your players, that's fine and normal, but objectively Wan-Bissaka isn't an all-round great player, and certainly isn't "excellent", and that's just the truth of it.

Today's one of those rare moments I agree with most of what the ESPN pundits had to say. We'll see how this season unfolds, but it certainly doesn't work without Højlund and Zirkzee as center-forwards.

The problem is our wingers (particularly Rashford) don't create for the striker they try to score themselves. De Ligt is an upgrade on what they have at RCB, and Mazraoui is an upgrade over AWB, at least offensively. Mazraoui will start at RB, De Ligt and Martinez at CB and Dalot at LB, at least until Shaw is fit enough. Finally having competition at at least 3 of the 4 defensive positions, save for LCB, is something United hasn’t had in quite awhile. Is it going to get them to the PL title? No, but that’s mainly because their biggest issues are at CDM, and unless they sign Ugarte, anything else is a stopgap until they can go big for that position next summer. Yes, players like Antony, Maguire and Sancho still need to be moved on and replaced, but because of how poorly the last 2 years went, transfer-wise, it’ll take another 2-3 windows of solid business to even get them solidly in the top 4, never minding what even happens with EtH.

For context, de Ligt was injured at the start of the season but 2nd half of the season he was the main man for Bayern. Bayern fans almost unanimously agree he was their best defender last season. Quality isn't the issue, but injuries.
De Light went on to Bayern for £70m. And he started plenty of game alongside Dier. He can play a high line and is a country mile better than Maguire. Alongside Martinez we will have a solid defence

De ligt started in the big matches at Bayern, less in the smaller matches. I think for a club like Bayern, there are a lot of matches where a different type of defender is preferred.

United doesn’t have oil money like city or psg and they can’t spent all their transfer budget on one player they have many issues to fix so I can say united kind of are making good signings not the best in position but better than many of their current squad. But still united needs more transfer windows and sell all the dead woods on their squad.
He's much better than Maguire and allows us to play a higher line. Alongside Martinez and back under Ten Hag, hopefully he'll get back to his best.
On Wan Bissaka, he's good one on one, but that's it. Constantly beaten at the back post and pretty useless going forward which modern fullbacks need to be good at.

Mazraoui injury record gives you a concern but then you check wan bissaka's record and you find it's almost the same (if not worse) in recent years. Then you realize they've just swapped wan bissaka for Mazraoui with a small profit, and maz is way better for Erik's system. He also won't play every game, and will be a sub. Come to think of it, Aaron was also on a very high wage and I'm sure Maz won't be on such a high one under Ineos era.
