Wrap the section of the exhaust pipe under the oil drain with some aluminum foil. Helps keep the oil off of it and keeps it clean. Cheers!

Thanks for another great video. A question a bit off topic though. I see the suspension in the video and made me think. Any chance of being back on Jay Leno's garage with the 450? The suspension is what sold me on this bike, especially after the test drive and I would love to hear how Jay thinks it compares to his Vincents and Broughs. The handling is far better than I ever expected. Although, you already have more orders than you can handle... lol. Let me know what you think. Thanks again!

Sounds good. Left comment on old 250 video but next drop for a video from Jay, I will leave a comment. I think that would be really cool! Have a great weekend!

Is the filter unique to this bike or will a standard Honda filter work? Part number?

I second this request. Janus guys, please give us an oil filter part number. It's not in the manual either.

@Steve Miller K&N KN-563 is listed in the maintenance supplies in their online shop: www.janusmotorcycles.com/product/450-oil-filter/. I just did the first oil change and filter change with that filter.

Here's an idea that may help.
1.) Cut another water bottle to remove the top and bottom parts.
2.) Cut the remaining water bottle lengthwise.
3.) Slip the water bottle "sleeve" you just created over the exhaust.
Now do the oil change as specified - no chance of much oil getting on the exhaust using this method.

Yea but won’t the exhaust be warm and melt the plastic? Aluminum foil would work better

You drained out 8 oz from the case, that doesn't go back in ? now when you restart the bike it has no oil in the case till the oil pump pumps it through and fills the 8 oz back up ? That sounds like not a good thing. How about releasing the case oil plug to clean the sludge off wile keeping your finger over the hole so the case oil doesn't drain out and then putting the plug back in wile losing only a little oil out of the case. ( dirty oil is better than no oil, and it wouldn't matter much to me cause I do oil changes every 1500 miles on my bikes anyways so the oil is never really that dirty when I do it anyways. Or the oil in the lower case is not the part of the oil that is lubing the engine crank ? I just know that if you don't have oil in a triumph case it's bad. seen two friends destroy their motors cause they didn't refill the case after draining it. (why I never drain that, and just cycle it through into the new oil from the tank that I just changed ) Am I over thinking this ? I know my Sporty has oil in the case but you don't drain that when doing oil changes, and same with the WideGlide. And the triumphs you just leave them alone too. just asking questions. ;)
