Hi Xander. Very impressed by your video. Very professional. It reminds me so many good memories and gives me the will to go again soon. It was a real pleasure to meet you several times around the TMB. I just finished one day after you but much more exhausted as far as I can compare with your movie 😀. Serge
Hi Serge! Nice to see you found the video!! It was a pleasure meeting you, thanks for your kind words!! Running in to you multiple times was one of my highlights of the trail! Maybe it doesnt show but I was completely exhausted as well haha, you went very fast too then, as always 😉 nice to see you also finished in one piece! Greetings!
@@WanderwithXander ik zou graag willen maar is denk ik nog een beetje too much for me. Ik ga eerst maar eens een meerdaagse solo hike in Nederland ondernemen 😉
This is a great video! Brings back awesome memories of my tour du mont blanc hike last june, although it was much more snowy but really fun too haha. This video really captures the essence of the hike! Congrats!
Rly awesome, guess u rly enjoyed it all. What a journey. TMB is on my wishlist for sure. Was in Chamonix last year. Want to go again this month. But the TMB is not yet there for me. Might do a 1 day hike to get a feeling of it hehe. Groetjes vanuit Holland. ;)
Hey Xander, wow really excellent video and awesome tour. You are very inspiring my friend. I also like Kraigs videos. He is a pioneer for us hiker-creators. Your video convinced me one more time, to buy a new Sony :). Have a great weekend!
Hey man, very nice video! What kind of pants were you using when it got colder? Looks like some kind of running joggers, would love to know what those are!
Thanks a lot! Yes its very easy to do with a dog, a lot of people do it 😄 just skip the part with the metal stairs (near lac Blanc) and the Fenetre d'Arpette and you will be more than fine! Enjoy! Let me know if you have more questions
@@WanderwithXander cool. thank you for the fast reply. I want to do the full trail you added in description. I have to check how to skip those parts :).
Its very easy to skip those parts, just do tthe normal route between champex lac and Trient to skip Fenetre d'Arpette and avoid the infamous metal stairs. Those are not doable at all for a dog!
Hi Xander! Beautiful video, loved watching it. And it is a true inspiration. We now live since a week in Chamonix. This is a relaxing video to watch, love the music. Is it usual to go wildcamping along the TMB? Would love to do the TMB ourselves Deen and Alette

Hi Tomas, thanks for your kind words! So nice you watched it twice already, I will look into it to see if I'm able to make a GPX route somehow! Otherwise I will give you a precise route one way or another. I will come back to you!
@@WanderwithXander Hi Xander, many thanks for your help. since you are using Garmin, the best option would be to retrieve in GPX from Garmin Connect App if you need any technical assistance, please let me know and many thanks again! One question - what was your favourite place on the whole journey?

I think the walk from the French-italian border to the Italian - Swiss border for the views. But definitly the french part for the ability to wildcamp without problems! Pfoe, difficult. Mostly blogs and Facebook groups! In short: France, bivoucing is allowed. So pitching a tent at sunset and leaving a little after sunrise! In Italy and Swiss this is only allowed above 2500m or above the threeline! But if you hide yourself a little bit, I dont think anyone will find out! Hope it helps! I linked my exact campsites in the GPX file: My Tour du Mont Blanc on AllTrails www.alltrails.com/explore/map/tour-du-mont-blanc-2e2c080
@@WanderwithXander that’s great thankyou! I’m planning to camp the TMB next summer and I’ve heard mixed things on this topic so. Thanks for the info 👌🏼🙌🏼
In France you're free to bivouac so you won't have any problems there, in Swiss and Italy just make sure you're out of sight or above 2200/2400m or the treeline (I forgot the exact height). Have fun!
I'm not quite sure how heavy my pack was, but I will make a video about my gear soon! Wildcamping in Italy was quite stealthy but, a little bit of track and out of sight, very doable! Had found a beautiful spot less then a kilometer after refugio giorgio bertone! Also stayed at refuge elizabeta once to charge everything! Have fun!
Dankje! Leuk dat je hebt gekeken! Yes, in had van die gevriesdroogde maaltijden mee + water. Ontbijt/lunch haalde ik vaak in de kleine dorpjes waar je bijna dagelijks passeert :)
This is great for someone that is planning to do the TMB in the summer of 2022. Did you ever feel rushed at all, as you completed it in less time than usual?
Thanks! I have some more video's about the TMB on my channel as well! Maybe only the last day, since the day after I finished they predicted a lot of rain. But I didn't on the other days. I liked walking a lot and far every day, making it a physical challenge 😄
Oh very cheap how i did it. I bought all my dinners in an outdoor store. Slept for free or 10 euro's a night and didnt take any cable cars. Only went to supermarkets for lunch and breakfast and didnt drink much at the refugios!
I'm about to do this in 2 weeks time. Unfortunately my friend backed out, so I replanned the route to 8 days instead of 11 days and now have no refuges booked! Should I be worried?
If you want to sleep in refugios, you might have some problems since i think the season has really started then. But if you bring a tent you will be totally fine! Also doing it solo will be an awesome experience!!
Hi, im planning to do the 7-8 days TMB next July. I am not familiar with Alltrails so could you please share your itinerary wtth distance? I am planning to do campsites as well too but I found that you cant really wild camp can you? I dont wanna get arrested during my time there lol but do you have any recommendations of avoiding getting caught? Thanks!
AllTrails is quite easy and maybe very helpful for you during the trip. All the exact locations are on the app, including elevation gain and distance. :) I did some stealthcamping, so just a bit of the path. But in France its legal to bivouc, so thats where I wildcamped the most! Also above 2400m you can bivouc in Italy and Swiss. Good luck!
