In November, 1776, St. Eustacius was the first port that recognized the independent colonies of North America after viewing a laboriously written copy of the Declaration of Independence signed on July 4, 1776. This bond with those colonies helped create the outcome of the Revolutionary War. The Dutch government and the island itself suffered irreversible damage from that support in 1781 at the hands of the English Navy. The 🇺🇸(USA) owes a great debt of gratitude to Stacia for their decision.
No comparison between the two islands. Saba is the Unspoiled Queen. The best said about Statia is that it's definitely not the worst Caribbean island to visit.
