Soz Khwani

Soz Khwani or Songs of Lament, is a rare poetic, musical, storytelling art which tells the story of a battle between evil and truth fought by the Prophet’s grandson Hussain with a small band of 72 women, men and children against the rulers of the times in Karbala about 1400 years ago. Askari Naqvi, who grew up doing Soz Khwani is re-contextualising and presenting it outside their strictly religious setting.
