great upload. just found this. I was at the first 16 hemsbys then it started to become too commercial. This video and others that feature the early norfolk bar sum up that whole vibe back then. Stroll On...
This is the best, hour spent 😅nice to see Tom Ingram! Met him ten years ago! Been to every Viva since #14, till now! Love that song by the group, after you mention the Russian rockers 😮that little Kitten 🐈 who sang Wanda Jackson ❤
This is my first time watching this and this is before the net excisted and it's great you're showing this early hemsby clip which to me that festival is still going I sincerely hope I'll get a chance to go to this and even jam with the musicians there.
Great stuff, thanks for posting as sadly missed this May '91 Hemsby due to our wedding 3 weeks later so rather busy AND hard-up. So on stage we got Don & Dewey, wow!, Big Sandy, Del Vikings, very early Bloater ! with Jive Cats, Mercurys, Playboys, Sonny West, oh happy daze, and I for one love the fact the lasses wern't covered in tattoos !
Source avi plays ok - no sync problem, however it appears to have a sync problem after upload to youtube, when played on my iphone. Has anyone else experienced a sync problem?
Tattoos are not part of the fifties culture. They were extremely rare back then. I only knew one fella in the fifties who had a tattoo and he was in the Navy. The reason why so many have them now is because every weekender seems to have a tattoo artist who takes advantage of drunks. So sad to see.

A time when real Rockabillies attended these weekenders. I remember when Viva Las Vegas was like this in its early years.

Tattoos have ruined the whole fifties look....I just dont get it.
My Dad is one of the Mercury's. He loved playing at Hemsby.
Who was your dad?
Thanks so much for posting. I lent my copy of this video to a mate and never saw it again.

Turn-ups & furry dice under control here.
Refreshing to see the scene again before it became a parody of itself.
