Worked at a restaurant in the 80's , we had a customer that would come for buffet that would eat like this and stay for hours, we couldn't figure it out at first why this person would never get full until an employee caught this person throwing it up in the bathroom and then going back to start eating all over again. The one thing to remember if you do this in a restaraunt with servers is to tip according to how long you were there. Servers have sections and as long as youre sittin at her/his table they cannot flip that table. There was a woman that would do this at a diner i worked at. She would stay for the entirety of us being open and tip like $5. If she sat in your section it would cost you an entire half a days wage.

No waitress minds you staying as long as you like if you take the fact that in a pretty upscale restaurant you could have turned that table three times and made upwards of 60 or more on that one table into consideration when tipping . I got to my local one about 35 mins before dinner was to start and the manager tried to kick me out at 5 mins before it started. I refused to leave because I was only eating for about 20 minutes. another manager stepped in and said I could stay.

She switched tables because her servers probably went home, which means that those servers didn't get tipped.
