Me again, story time 👇 In Korea it is very common for men to take pictures of nude women without their consent, so there is a lot of research for these nudes there, and with gidle comeback they made all the research go to their music and fought the sharing of these images. Besides that in Korea, "IDLE" is like a "child" or "children", so if someone searches for images of children, they'll give it to their music. The significant impact that (G)I-DLE’s new song “Nxde” is causing with internet searches in SK. When you search for "여자 누드", what is now appearing are articles about gidle and their new comeback, together with the lyrics “Why you think that ‘bout nude”. I don't know if that was intentional or not, but either way it was fucking brilliant and amazing.
Fun Fact: This song/concept/comeback nearly didn't happen. Shuhua (girl in the green dress) originally didn't wanna dye her hair blonde, and Soyeon told her she had another song/concept ready if she chose she didn't wanna dye her hair blonde. Basically, if any of the members are uncomfortable with the image/concept of the song they are shown by Soyeon, the MV won't be filmed and nothing will happen, instead Soyeon will go through other concepts until all the members like the concept. This shows how close ALL the members are, since they all have to agree to what their concept and music is.

I'm not sure if you know, but (G)I-DLE's former member Soojin loves Marilyn Monroe and looked up to her - she often used her as inspiration for expressions and such, had her as her phone lock screen, etc. A lot of people are sad considering she would've shined so much in this song. People think the cartoon lady in the MV is Soojin because of the same beauty mark Soojin has under her eye. Could be the group's way of still honouring her.
They already did it in Tomboy with the 6 balloons that came from the car. Soyeon mention the 5 diamonds in her bag in « my bag » representing the 5 members since she's the leader (we know) + you can see just before Soojin (animated woman) does the 2nd « shhht » there was a zoom on the picture and you can see the same heart balloon from tomboy in the left corner. So it's all linked and I'm crying- (8:38 if you watch closely just before the zoom stop)
You got the meaningggg immediately, love itt. Some people watch without the lyrics and get confused thinking their still talking about literal Nude. It literally addressed the objectivication and sexualising of women which is still so in society today and for as long as we can remember
I think Nxde is absolutely what the Kpop indutry needed. Lots of people are gonna hate it, but even more are gonna love it. The concept is genius and it's brilliantly put. As fot the album probably Change and Dark (x-files) are my favourites, Shuhua's vocals in this comeback are amazing and I think you need to listen to I never die as well. Now that you mention about how Soyeon was taking the piss on people making fun of her Tomboy rap, when one of the teasers came out, there was text at the bottom that said: "Why you think that bout nude?" And people were not happy, they were talking about the grammar and how "oh the rap this time is gonna be shit too" and didn't even catch that it's Soyeon asking like "when I say 'nude' why is that your first thought?". There were no critical thinking skills being used there and people were even telling her to get an English ghostwriter. Hi, I am so happy for your reaction to the song Nxde. I really like how in depth you go into the song’s concepts, the lyrics, the meaning of the song, historical references. yes I am happy you noticed the Marilyn Monroe reference! GIDLE pink dress scene is a reference to Marilyn Monroe’s Diamonds are a girl’s best friend song from 1953. I am blown away by G-IDLE’s Nxde concept was inspired by Marilyn Monroe and Old Hollywood Glamour. I saw so many of Historical references, literary references, and messaging of women empowerment in the lyrics and in the music video. I am not sure if the song sampled a classical song. The instrumentals seem similar to me. But please can anyone let me know.
This is my first introduction to K-pop by a friend, despite me not really liking the genre that much. Mostly because I dislike cutesy style stuff and comes off as disingenuous to me (even if most of it is all in good fun) This song embodies that and calls it out, and boy am I all for it.
One thing is for sure, you'll always get the message and i'm here for it! My favorite song in the album is Change and i feel like you'll like that one aswell. and just a heads up, they said that the story line of this album is actually reversed so you might want to listen to the songs from number 6 to 1
Actually, this comeback was VERY expected, because they made a lot of references that Soojin would comeback. And, for what the Neverlands (G-idle fandom) said... The animated girl is Soojin, I mean, the animated girl looks exactly like Soojin in OMG music video. And, Marilyn Monroe was Soojin's inspiration, so, they put a lot of her
Using a translator, words can be strange. I'm a Korean who watches overseas reaction videos when I drink I've been looking for someone who fully understands this video. Not just looking at everyone's beautiful faces. You made my hard day enjoyable. Thanks a lot.
Your delight was contagious and so precious ❤ I adore Nxde and I look forward to the stages! They managed to beat my expectations into the stratosphere lol For the album, my favorite bside so far is Reset. Since you said you were going to listen to the album, just in case you might not be aware of it: the songs are meant to be experienced backwards for the full story (from the 6th song to Nxde)!
Someone who got the meaning....without getting stuck on the 10sec English verse! We love you. People need to chill about the English in kpop songs. As long you get what they mean why are you bothered. Isn't society supposed to be more accepting now T.T
I knew G(idel) but didn't get in to them that much before as a fool. after they came to amazing Saturday and saw their natural interaction i followed and this. damn comeback. I also knew you will understand the lyrics and concept well when I saw you have reacted to this. you never disappoint me
Ok I'm new to this fandom and my bias is Yuqi and I feel like there's not enough people appreciating her so thank you for pointing out her vocals because she ATEEEE this MV and vocals
I love how the first thing Soyeon does is to call out people with perverted views (why you think about nude? cause your view's so rude). being nude in this comeback is obviously symbolic as in "being your true self" but some people will just jump in to see sexual nudity as soon as they see the title. she invites people to "think outside the box" and to see the true meanings behind their music and then they will like it more. genius moves right there
I have seen some reactors catch on to a theory, which I can't deny has some weight. A lot of the cartoon gal's looks remind us of Soojin. She has a mole and wears the ruby red lipstick. The newspaper headlines in the video refer to "A woman who is sexy" "Troublemaker/Liar/Rumors" "Such a Wasteful Woman" so some of us wonder if there is an underlying message there? Edit: I watched their interview where they explain the song in detail, and one thing to pass on- listen to the album BACKWARDS (from 6 to 1) they said that is how the album was made to be listened to.
i love this reaction and breakdown!! i love that it's just not a reaction without pauses and then the video ends but you really think about the lyrics, the visuals, and pause and break down your thoughts for it, and i really appreciate your insight on this cb, so big thanks!! excited for your album listen, Soyeon's mentioned if you list from reverse order, so track 6 to 1, it tells the story of heartbreak to self love, which i think is really cool!!
it's so funny and im glad you understand the meaning of everything so quickly, gidle posted a teaser of soyeon saying what she says in the intro and the haters made hit tweets saying she doesnt make sense and just saying anything, like, whats so hard ?????? they are so dumb and pathetic lol anyway i love your reactions as always
Cube Entertainment talent scouts are outstanding at picking amazingly talented individuals and polishing them to shine brightly. Since 2015 (minus CLC) their groups have never followed “the trend” or done what people expected them to do musically. BTOB writes songs designed to help heal and comfort people through everyday trials; Pentagon writes songs that give messages aimed at personal growth & struggles; & Gidle writes songs that tend to address societal issues that women face (let’s face it, the boy groups can’t bring justice to these issues because they are male, although some of their songs have at least pointed out these issues). I am looking forward to seeing what the baby groups (Lightsum & NBG that supposed to debut early 2023) will bring to the table when they are allowed the artistic freedom that the senior groups have now. I truly hope that these groups continue to write songs that will help both people and the world itself.
Please look up at the meaning/controversey of Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass. The book that Soyeon was holding in the beginning. It gets MUCH deeper and shows how detail oriented Soyeon really is in this production! Mind blown! Also, favorite songs from the album are Change (reminds me of childhood/late 90's - early 2000's music for some reason) and DARK. The lyrics are DEEP!
and if it wasn’t a masterpiece already they referenced Soojin a lot here. They already did it in Tomboy with the 6 balloons that came from the car. Soyeon mention the 5 diamonds in her bag in « my bag » representing the 5 members since she’s the leader (we know). And here you can see the animation looking like Soojin. It’s her expression attitude and the mole under the eye. + soojin is a huge fan of Marilyn and the members knew about it (this is most fan theory for this particular thing) + you can see just before Soojin does the 2nd « shhht » there was a zoom on the picture and you can see the same heart balloon from tomboy in the left corner. So it’s all linked and I’m crying- Soyeon is one of the best leader the industry has ever known and one of the best artist in the industry too ✨🧚🏽♀️🤍
Thank you so much for this wonderful reaction! You're by far my favorite reactor because your interpretations are always spot on. It's more than just a concept for them, this is a statement. My favorite songs on "I LOVE" have to be sculpture, reset, and nxde.
Since you asked for b-sides! I'm probably forgetting many but some of my all time favorites are: - From this album: Dark X-File, Change and Sculpture - Put it straight, nightmare version (watch their Kingdom performance and/or their dance practice to it, they're amazing!) - Villain Dies and My Bag from the Tomboy album - Hann alone in winter ( it transports you into another world every time you listen to it)
I guess my interpretation of the ending with Banksy is that while the initial reaction might’ve been jarring, instead of playing safe, they figuratively shredded the their “safe concept” in front the public with this video. Their hope is that people will revisit this video and approach it with a broader mindset, like how the shredded painting ended up being appraised 25 times more than the original value when it was fully intact.
I love the fact that Soyeon included Soojin in the MV, since Soojin's role model is Marilyn Monroe, and the drawing in the MV looks just like Soojin because of the mole she has under the eye and the blonde hair
You didn't hear the rest of the "I Never Die" album yet? You have to, every song was great. This album was really good as well, my faves were Change, Sculpture and Dark (X-File). Also this was easily the best reaction video I've seen on this so far.

At least half of the members are fluent in English and other languages. I don’t know why she’s doing what she’s doing but she’s clearly doing it on purpose
I like how you go in to understanding what Soyeon is saying with her art. Here are a couple references from the video that go deeper... In the early part of the video we see Soyeon and the "betty boop"ish character reading "leaves of grass" by Walt Whitman. Here is the introductory section for "Leaves of Grass" on Wiki... Tell me if this reminds you of anyone... Leaves of Grass is regarded by many scholars as a completely do-it-yourself project. Whitman chose his idealized self as the subject of the book, created the style in which it was written (working hard and intelligently to perfect the style over a period of six or seven years), and created the personality of the proletarian bard-the supposed writer of the poems. Leaves of Grass is also notable for its discussion of delight in sensual pleasures during a time when such candid displays were considered immoral. The book was highly controversial during its time for its explicit sexual imagery, and Whitman was subject to derision by many contemporary critics. Over time, however, the collection has infiltrated popular culture and became recognized as one of the central works of American poetry.
I was waiting for your reaction, and as always it was the best I've seen. You really try to go through all the meaning that the girls are bringing to us. Very good and i loved it. 😆🤗

They are interpolating a line from a famous opera! Carmen Act I!
This is my first introduction to K-pop by a friend, despite me not really liking the genre that much. Mostly because I dislike cutesy style stuff and comes off as disingenuous to me (even if most of it is all in good fun)
This song embodies that and calls it out, and boy am I all for it.
Yessss I love that you gave it a chance and are into it
One thing is for sure, you'll always get the message and i'm here for it!
My favorite song in the album is Change and i feel like you'll like that one aswell. and just a heads up, they said that the story line of this album is actually reversed so you might want to listen to the songs from number 6 to 1
It will never not be entertaining when Soyeon is clapping her haters. It's also unfair because she has a brain... and a genius one at that.
감사합니다 이 댓글이 내 하루를 만들었습니다
Your delight was contagious and so precious ❤ I adore Nxde and I look forward to the stages! They managed to beat my expectations into the stratosphere lol For the album, my favorite bside so far is Reset. Since you said you were going to listen to the album, just in case you might not be aware of it: the songs are meant to be experienced backwards for the full story (from the 6th song to Nxde)!
Thank you sooo much. I didn't know!!! Gosh they really turn things upside down
Someone who got the meaning....without getting stuck on the 10sec English verse! We love you. People need to chill about the English in kpop songs. As long you get what they mean why are you bothered. Isn't society supposed to be more accepting now T.T
I was looking forward to your reaction for this. =) Not disappointed.
Thanks that means a lot!
Thank you for analyzing the lyrics and everything! This whole mv is a masterpiece in all aspects 💜
I always love your reaction on them. Thank you.
it's so funny and im glad you understand the meaning of everything so quickly, gidle posted a teaser of soyeon saying what she says in the intro and the haters made hit tweets saying she doesnt make sense and just saying anything, like, whats so hard ?????? they are so dumb and pathetic lol anyway i love your reactions as always
THEY ARE ALWAYS DUMB LMAO
Thank you 😊
Since you asked for b-sides! I'm probably forgetting many but some of my all time favorites are:
- From this album: Dark X-File, Change and Sculpture
- Put it straight, nightmare version (watch their Kingdom performance and/or their dance practice to it, they're amazing!)
- Villain Dies and My Bag from the Tomboy album
- Hann alone in winter ( it transports you into another world every time you listen to it)
Yoooo this is the best reaction video! I love it 🥰 just subscribed!
Thanks fairy 😀
@@Yetti. you should listen to Reset in the album 💿 SOOO GOOOD
Do u know how amazing u are? I wish everyone had this huge power of interpretation u have, ur on a whole superior level of reading the subjective
this is my fave reaction of nxde out of all reaction ive watched so far
I guess my interpretation of the ending with Banksy is that while the initial reaction might’ve been jarring, instead of playing safe, they figuratively shredded the their “safe concept” in front the public with this video. Their hope is that people will revisit this video and approach it with a broader mindset, like how the shredded painting ended up being appraised 25 times more than the original value when it was fully intact.
Love that
I love the fact that Soyeon included Soojin in the MV, since Soojin's role model is Marilyn Monroe, and the drawing in the MV looks just like Soojin because of the mole she has under the eye and the blonde hair
The moles on the cartoon's right arm are also the exact moles Soojin has on her right arm!
Thank you so much for giving us this explanation. ❤
love your reactions!
You didn't hear the rest of the "I Never Die" album yet? You have to, every song was great. This album was really good as well, my faves were Change, Sculpture and Dark (X-File). Also this was easily the best reaction video I've seen on this so far.
Thank you! yes I haven't but Ive heard most of the songs. i'll start with I love you and circle back
I can always count on you to understand what Soyeon is trying to portray!
You're always so perceptive in your reactions, it's a joy to watch you!
Also Nxde is just crazy good
i love ur reactions and how u actually take the time to analyze the meaning behind the lyrics and music videos
Baby girl they never pretend to be someone else not even a single day😂
They’re the only Kpop group I stand
I love the meaning behind every songs that soyeon wrote🥰🥰🥰
Such a 90s vibe!!!
is it me but i feel like you could interpret the MV so well? like i, myself was quite lost when i watched the MV. Anyways another amazing video!
This "how do i look" it is pronounced with such passivity and irony as if we wanted to ineptly To please someone, I think
Thank you so much for understand the deeper meaning of this song cuz sadly so many don’t. They think this song is just dumb and not attractive because they just don’t get it.
Please support I-dle guys!
Thank you, I thought I was the only one getting the Marylyn Monroe vibe.. Yetty, I’ve missed you 😫
Ive been looking for girl reactors specifically reacting to this MV, because it's such a enpowering message for girls
I always appreciate Soyeon and GiDLE giving such enpowering messages in their songs, it is not easy. And they constantly do it. Idk the right words to describe it 😭😭 But it honestly makes me tear up,
Yay! I was so excited for your reaction, I love the way you talk about the meaning behing everything. This is my second comeback with them and I'm just so happy I found them!
My gawddd your mind at 4.01😂👏👏you understood even beyond that
I love everything about this. And them. So glad I got to see them in Chicago. And this is why I don't compare them to 4th gen groups - they are so distinctive, so unique, so genuine.
I love the homage they pay to the legendary marlilyn monroe
I like your interpretation. I can relate to it a lot
so, i discovered your channel today but i already noticed how u look deep into the lyrics and meaning of the songs you listen. so, i looked on your channel searching for a "discovering dreamcatcher" video and didnt find it so i feel like i need to recommend you them. theirs songs and mvs are stunning, their voices and coreography are amazing and they have so many important messages. also, i think it would be nice for you the see some non maisntream groups and see how talented they also are.
You are one of the few reactors who are able to cut right into a song's message and meaning. You have a very incisive insight.
i love that u love idle
I LOVE YOUR REACTS OMG
Dont you just love this?
Yes! Absolutely! I liked the rap in Tomboy. It was definitely purposeful. It added to the song as far as I’m concerned.
And this song is just amazing. The whole concept is amazing. I love love love it.
when you’re free you should listen to their mini album ‘I burn’ it’s one of my favorite albums ever in the kpop industry
I just want to clarify that at the start of the second rap of Soyeon she says Shillye-hamnida that means excuse me in korean, not Seoyeon-Imnida so the subtitles are right
I'm a stan now
My fav reaction video and I love the interpretation 💜❤️
Минни очень идут светлые волосы. У Соен очень интересный голос. Шухуа, юци и Миен прекрасны! Все очень вписались в клип. Круто, что группа не боится реализовывать такие концепции! Мне очень понравилась партия Минни
Dark is one of my fave
The banksy reference! I lost my mind thereee!! Bansky shreaded his painting to protest the commercialisation of art so you can make the parallel
At 2:56, see words in paper, Rumor, looked like ruined lives for a moment, such a waste, etc. Right on point about her group's experience. Love your interpretation. She's not bitter, sure she has been deeply hurt, but what the love! We don't know what the future holds regarding, 🍒, but she is still being represented! Can't erase her.
So those are things that people said to them??
@@Yetti. yeah people said stuff like that abt soojin when she was accused
@@Yetti. The whole Soojin controversy. Soojin has worldwide fan base in spite of the false accusations. Have u reacted to Soojin's, Got It, M/V? See how she would have shone here!
i love this song so much
As always, I love your analysis of the lyrics and video!
I always love your reactions ! one of the best on YT, I really enjoyed Reset (A slower Ost like song) and change in 'I Love' would love to see your review of the album !
No Big 3 privilege here. The real 4th Gen leaders
I def needed this explanation for the video!!
Omg I love this song, it's so good
