Undertones - The Abandoned Mansion in the Woods

- At the end of a twisted and pitted driveway, we arrive at the old manor. It rests on the crest of an overgrown meadow, staring outward toward the shallow valley beneath it. Though long-vacant, it was hardly alone out here by the edge of the forest. Birds came and went from the eves, chirping and darting into the high grasses in hunt of food, or perhaps fodder for nesting. Squirrels run across the aging rock walls, and tiny handprints dot the windowpanes and doors, telltale callings of inquisitive raccoons testing for entry into the old home. Life resonates all around the mansion, yet it sits at the heart of it all in morose silence.
Walking up to the front entrance we found it slightly ajar. Though stiff, it moved slowly inward when forced upon. After some moments of struggling the door abruptly gave in, letting out a piercing creak as it burst open. The sound rushed through the old estate, echoing off the walls and floors, then, as suddenly as it happened, all was silent once again. There was no response from within, no recognition of our presence, just a dense air of indifference radiated by a house that had long since been a home.

Fingers crossed the prospective new owners are able to save it! Such a gorgeous old home with no vandal-damage (that I could see). Thank you for the tour! If by chance you get back that way and see it being restored, a follow up vid would be awesome ;)
You guys seem to have a gift for finding well intact abandoned locations!
It's mostly luck honestly. Thank you though.
I love how your camera work and editing captures both the splendour and the decay of the mansion. It's both beautiful and almost contemplative when the light seems to hint at the building's former glory. Truly stunning!
Thank you so much for the encouraging words! It's great to hear that there are people out there who still appreciate a more subdued approach to filming. Ones who see the stories held within the light and the shadow.
Fantastic!!
Thank you very much.
Bravo!!!!!
🖤
Good to know You guys still are there , love the way You capture the atmosphere. Regards from Poland
Thanks for the kind words. Happy to report that we're still kicking.
Great job folks!!!!
Thank you!!!!
Based on the style and materials, I'm guessing 1890s-1920s (if it's in the US)? Very cool. Should be listed on the National Register if it isn't already. Glad to hear it has a new owner. Hope they bring it back to life.
Good job! Early 1930s.
It looks like it wouldn't take much to keep that beautiful building from Total decay.
One can only hope.
It is in decent repair. Rumor is new owners have taken over the property, so perhaps there's a happy ending here.
It lives!
The house or this UA-cam account? Regardless, we're glad to say both are still standing the test of time.
Wow that almost seems saveable. Pretty impressive how nice everything still is. Was there a swimming pool on property as well?
With rumors of new ownership, perhaps it will once again be a home. As for a pool, we didn't see one, but it could have been backfilled with earth and overgrown through the years.
Lovely video, kinda reminded me of the Brisbane mansion that burnt down. Not sure how, but it’s kinda sad.
Ever think you’ll be able to look at the Salem county insane asylum?
One day!
Please add some history on the fate of this home and what happened to the people who owned it.
We decided to focus on the literal house rather than the past occupants, but from what we've come to gather the property came to be neglected after a death. As the death was relatively recent we didn't want to share too much personal information on such a public forum as UA-cam. They said, it seems new owners have taken over the property so there's hope for the old estate.
