Hi Hiro, forgive me for inquiring on something not exactly related to the video content, but I have noticed your right hand grips the shinai at least an inch below the tsuba. I was taught to make sure the right hand touches the tsuba, but I have tried your way and found it a lot more comfortable, because my arms are more relaxed during chuudan, and helps me to make sure both my arms (particularly my left) is stretched straight when striking. What are your thoughts on the grip of the right hand?
J A I actually have the same thing, whereby if I extend my right hand to the tsuba, my whole arm seems to be almost locked. When I go to face my sempai or sensei they always comment about keeping my right arm ‘relaxed’. I’ve found that since I’ve lowered my right hand lower down the tsuka it’s more comfortable for me. My sensei and even some kohai have said that it’s a sign the Tsuka leather is a little bit too big for you. I would probably look into shortening this or speaking to your sensei about this.
thanks very nice
Hello, thanks for the vids; however, do you already have, or could you do more situational fencing videos
