When Admiral Richards was born, he carried his mother home from the hospital. In school the teachers raised their hands to talk to him. Prolonged exposure to Admiral Richards is a performance enhancing substance.

Being a SEAL is one thing. Being a SEAL and earning the nickname “The Hulk” is another, and being a SEAL, who earned the nickname “The Hulk” AND becoming an admiral in charge of the SEALS is a level even the most badass of men can’t dream of attaining.

I need to preface the fact that I am neither a veteran or enlisted. But listen to Jocko religiously. I understand the sacrifice and appreciate it tenfold. Listening to Admiral Thomas break up in the beginning talking about getting his men back over the ledge is something that would make anyone tear up. That a man of that stature and proess breaks up speaking about that shows the amount of brotherhood and love for each other and country that is 2nd to none. Thank you all listening to or reading this for your service. I know sometimes it seems unappreciated but there are those of us at home that if anything were to happen on home soil we will be the first to join you and pull you back over the ledge. "I would rather die on my feet than live on my knees."
GOD BLESS YOU ALL and THANK YOU.

Just came across this podcast, though I follow Jocko faithfully. I went through BUD/S with Mr. Richards, when he was an Ensign, and Airborne training, at Ft. Benning. We were in sister platoons, in Vietnam. Because of his muscle mass, he was seriously challenged, during BUD/S, but with the heart of a lion, he prevailed. He had our greatest respect, back then, and still, today. HOOYAH, HULK! I hope to see you at the renunion, this summer.

You can tell he's a leader because of how much attention he pays to remembering the names of every single person he's worked with

Had a buddy in my Platoon get a tracer round through the leg and it did that cauterize thing the Admiral talks about. The entrance wound was the size of a pencil eraser and didn't bleed. Pretty crazy looking.

I could listen to him talk all day long. My hats off to the Admiral (and his magnificent mustache) One of the great American heroes still above ground.
Great interview Jocko. Thanks for letting the Admiral talk just as much as he damn well felt like. You are a great American hero to me too. 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

I love this guy! Plain spoken. To the point. Not enough people like this man get promoted to positions as decision makers in the 'pit' in D.C.

I recently came across a Top-secret research paper that has tried to combine the admirals DNA with Jockos DNA. The researchers concluded that it is simply not safe, being that it would possibly lead to a big bang opening another universe. The universe would only contain super SEAL’s that are born with superhuman strength, Olympic wrestling abilities, and a red belt in jujitsu, just to name a few.
