These videos are incredibly valuable for a sub 500 employee company IT ADMIN like myself. I have several years' experience with XCP-ng, but being able to have you/your channel as a resource is FANTASTIC for continuous information and updates! 👍
For gits and shiggles, today I decided I'd see if I could build XO in a Proxmox LXC, and it works! I think I'll poke at this with some old Unifi NVRs setup as nodes (low-powered machines).
Is there an option for file level backup/restoration. Example: Restore a file/folder from the delta. I wouldn't want to restore an entire VM for one file/folder mistake. Thank you for all you! Outstanding, in-depth information and consistent format. Really great!
35:19 hello love your videos... I did a restore for testing purposes and vm was restored but said my network wasnt working.. I restored on a different machine and new os.. How do i fix the no network issue?? Thank you so much Scott
Great video. Was hoping to see the NFS side of the backup. Have you tried setting a remote connection for NFS, what permissions are needed for that? When I attempt it all I get is connection timeout with not further details. However, I did finally get SMB backup to work - just had to add a subfolder to the share and it worked.
Tom, For Windows VMs do you use the proprietary Windows tools/drivers or the XCP-NG ones? If I choose to use the Citrix ones would that affect backups?
So, is this all out the window with the free version now? I like trying things in my lab but it looks like I would need to pay $77 a month now to backup my VMs.
Hey Tom! So this video takes care of XCP-NG and TrueNAS. Synology also has a seamless backup solution for ESXi and it works on the free version. It's really slick and even backs-up VMs while they're running. Any idea if something that seamless exists for ESXi? I like that ESXi is super stable, but doing some of the more complex things in my homelab is getting harder and harder, and perhaps it's time to migrate over to XCP-NG...
Trying to get my backup to work, maybe you can help with a few pointers. The goal is nightly full backups and hourly delta backups during the day. The window for nightly full backup is 10:00pm to 6:00am and window for hourly delta backup is 7:00am till 9:00pm. Backup retention is 2 previous full backups.
If you are using it commercially they have subscriptions and support options. If you are using it in your lab you can compile it and support it yourself with all the features.

It's like you know exactly what I need help with right when I need help with it. Thanks for the tutorial.
Thanks always for awesome content on XCP-NG.

Just what I was looking for. Thanks Tom.

Hi Laurence, can we have a deep dive on XOA and VXLAN LAB scenario ?
On my to do list
Awesome!
an in-depth comparison between Pve-zsync and xo continuous replication would be great.
I don't use Proxmox so not likely I will review that.
Tom,

You can use either one and the backups will be fine.
Xen Orchestra it's VMware Vcenter in libre XCP-NG world :))

Free if you build from source ua-cam.com/video/bq1iKO-0jWs/v-deo.html

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I don't know, I don't use ESXI

You can use the scheduler for that
When setting up backup in the free version i get a upgrade needed message. Do i need to upgrade?
Have you done videos on XOSAN?
nope, once it all come out of beta.
@@LAWRENCESYSTEMS
They have XOSAN and XOSAN V2
Is XOSAN not production ready since it's a paid product?
@@mspencerl87 I was referring to XOSAN V2
is there a way to install a Mac VM on XCP-NG
dunno, never tried
So you have to pay $75 a month in order to do backups?
