I always re-amend my soil with worm castings, compost, and craft-blend (Build-A-Soil). Since you grow organically, I'd like to see you do a grow with only Build-A-Soil products and using Jeremy's grow practices. Anyway, I also only grow organically and use Build-A-Soil products, but have used Down to Earth, Dr. Earth, Espoma fertilizers etc. with great success. Loyal to the soil.

I started out using a lot of what Jeremy and BAS touted, because I wanted my first run to be special and put everything into it...
But now I'm realizing that the amendments are expensive and a cost dump.
I make my own fermented fertilizers. Fish body/bones, pork bones, beef blood, fermented plant juice, rotted plant extract, manure, milk/kefir LABS, Alfalfa, Kelp, etc. I have 17 in total, and have more on the way. I'm realizing there isn't too much needed in the form of these amendments, when I can get it all from my fertilizers. I will say that I do still buy the kelp and alfalfa, and some are necessary to get in order to make the fertilizers to begin with, but once you have a starting base, it works out great, instead of buying all the stuff over and over again.
For instance, that Silica powder that BAS sells for $50 a gallon or whatever amount. Sure, the silica in there is probably fantastic, but you could get that from other sources. I live in an area with Silica sand, so I'm thinking that could work, but bones and other things have the silica/silicone so I don't need to spend so much on a bag of it.
I think some rock dusts could be beneficial, I do have some in a bucket and add that to my feedings. I think lava rock and pumice are good for the aeration, and peat/compost are needed to make the coots mix, so you do need the "Solid base foundation," but if you make your own compost, have sand/leaves/etc for aeration, and can just get some peat or replace it with something else, you can really get away with having to spend so much money.
I spent thousands setting up my beds inside and outside, so I'm just speaking from experience and what I Would change for the future. I think it would still be a cost, because I stil had to buy the peat moss, rice hulls, and compost to use, but some of the amendments I think Ic ould ahve went without.

Chop time cut at soil level cover with barley and castings over that plant off to the side of that spot and keep on going is a good “no till” way that works great.

I’ve been recycling my soil for almost two years. I use Promix and Gaia green. So far no issues. When is time to start a new cycle i re amend with 1/2 of the recomended dose for starting a blank soil. Then i top dress in week 4. Sometimes i add other ingredients from down to earth but that is optional and it comes with practice, 10 percent of worm castings too

I’m on a similar routine for a couple years solid with the Gaia Green and NPK industries micro nutrient lines…but next run we’ll be also amending with build a soil craft blend on top of what we’ve been doing … nothing major just something to add to the substrates…

Just in time I just started my worm bin.
    Easy diy guide
    1. dollar store plastic tote add to it your old soil, roots, leaves and any organic matter. Some worms can also digest small carb sources albeit slowly. They do not have teeth so breaking things down a little WILL help.
    2. Add worms. Red wigglers are preferred as they tend to double in population every 2 months. Earth worms can work but aren't advised. They make larger castings and are harder to contain. They are called earth worms for a reason.
    3. Add enough water to the medium that it isn't soaking, but it is moist. The worms do not want to be sopping wet. Usually, I just mist it every once in awhile.
    4. Throw your lid on and keep worms nice and cool. Nl direct sunlight. Normal temps. A garage is perfect. Anything over 90 is probably not gonna be a good thing for the wormies. Outdoors they would burrow down.
