Sometimes i just don't understand people..... the story of Undertale is basically these two kids name Asriel and Chara. Chara was the first fallen human to fall in the Underground. but before that, there was a war between the two races. monsters and humans. the humans won the war and sealed the monsters into the Underground. that's where Chara came in. in Mt. Ebott. Chara becomes a family with the dreemurrs. but Chara hated humanity and came up with a plan to bust the barrier with Asriel. But Asriel didn't like the plan. the plan was for Chara to kill herself and have Asriel absorb Chara's soul to become very strong. (if I can remember) what happened was. Asriel crossed the barrier and went to the village carrying Chara's dead body. When the villagers saw this. they thought Asriel killed Chara and so they attacked Asriel with everything they had. Chara wanted Asriel to kill the humans. Asriel had the power to destroy them all. but he refused to do so. there for. when he comes back to the Underground. Asriel Dies on a couple of Golden flowers. that's when Alphys wanted to see if she can save Asriel by putting Determination. but instead, Asriel just became a Soulless Golden Flower. That's when Asgore was whacked with grief and anger so he created a new rule. every human that falls down here will have their soul taken. they needed 7 human souls to cross the barrier to take back what was theirs. after the 6 human souls were taken. that's where "Frisk" comes in. Undertale is not meant to be a hard game. it's meant for you to make "Choices" on your own and deal with the consequences that you make. like if you do pacifist. the Bosses are less hard. but if you do Genocide the bosses are More hard because it's your punishment for killing all the monsters in the Underground. the reason why the character "Frisk" has Determination is because "We" the player are controlling them and knowing Toby. he knows that we're gonna come back no matter what even if we die a lot, we'll keep trying our best. Which is why "We" have Determination. Undertale is very touching and it makes you realize a lot of things. Undertale Isn't just some regular RPG game where you encounter a Monster and kill them to get exp to lvl up and get stronger... Undertale makes you think that but no.. The monsters in Undertale has Feelings, Hopes and Dreams, they talk to you, they try to become friends with you, and they have a family..... Sans said it himself. Lvl is an acronym. it stands for "Level of violence" Exp is also an acronym. it stands for "Execution points". which is why when you beat pacifist. Flowey says leave "them" be. let "Frisk" be happy. he's talking to us, the "Player". because Undertale is not really a regular game. it's a "Living" game with a heart. The more you Reset. The more you're torturing them without them even knowing.. in plus you're torturing Frisk because that's the character you're controlling... not to mention. when you do Genocide. all the monsters in the Underground evacuates to a safer place. wanna know what's sad? when you go to the store in Snowdin. there's a note in the shop that says. "Please don't hurt my family". you can take and steal what's in the shop. what's even worse. is that the song that plays when you're in the shop...sounds... Dead... every time when you walk after you killed all the monsters in the area. you encounter something but... *Nobody Came...* what's scary is that. when you beat Genocide. Chara is basically your punishment... when you try to come back to the world "YOU" destroyed. Chara ask you to give them something that Chara wants and Chara will bring the world back. but that "Something" is your Soul. if you say no. Chara will say "Then stay here for all eternity." if you say Yes you'll give it to Chara and Chara will bring it back. but the only difference is. when you try to do Pacifist. you will still get the Bad ending because you sold your soul to Chara... it's not Chara's fault. it's "YOURS". that's why Chara says "Do you think you are above Consequences?" basically Chara is saying you don't deserve a happy ending. and it's alll your fault. Chara doesn't hate monsters nor does Chara want to kill them. Chara hates Humans and want to destroy humanity not monsters... Chara is just helping you to reach the Absolute End. To give you. a Absolute Dead End. what's even WORSE. is that the Genocide ending. theirs no credits. no music. no Nothing. just a black screen with air blowing for about 10 minutes or more. because. *N o b o d y C a m e.* THE END

The main in-story reasons (Out of story reason is that Undertale isn't supposed to be focusing on the dodging) is that most Undertale characters are shooting to kill, so to say, so there is less room for more complex bullet patterns because there is more power behind every individual bullet. With or without spellcard rules, full power Asriel basically solos the entire Touhou universe though. Chara and Omega Flowey also get pretty close to doing so.

Asriel's fight is only better the first time you play it. After that it gets boring real quick. You can't lose, all attacks are trivial once you've seen them 2 times, there's no repercussion to anything, and it's just way less intense in general (let's be real, just compare the attacks in this video and tell me what looks like it takes more effort, also taking into consideration that Touhou gives you less opportunities to get hit). But that makes sense because of the story and because of the type of game Undertale is. Marisa's fight is primarily meant to give a serious gameplay challenge. The kind of thing that you need to practice if you want to do good on it and make a good amount of progress. Casually, Asriel's fight is better because of importance in the story. That is probably the answer to your question if we're going by the statement that Asriel's fight is better.

A bit too late, but answering... Hyperdeath isn't even a term. Marisa (now) has the Utramarine Orb Elixir and the original Occult Ball, making she a Reality Warper superior to Asriel. (Occult Ball can create/destroy multiverses and the Elixir is like Determination)

Actually Undertale focuses more into head-on combat, thats why theres not much complex bullet hell patterns but in exchange there is high damage in every hit. Asriel does somewhere between 14 to 10 damage per hit. Asriel's attacks are pretty easy to avoid but very unpredictable, since *there are no patterns and the line of fire is shown for 1 second before disappearing* and Asriel's attacks are fast and hard to dodge like his Chaos Buster, which increases speed each interval, and his beam attacks which fires as soon as the warning markers are shown and his final attack in his God of Hyperdeath mode is near unavoidable and increases width and damage. The Touhou character, Marisa Kirisame, on the other hand, obeys the spellcard rules, so there are very complex bullet hell patterns and get hit by a bullet and youre down. One downside tho is Marisa's attacks are predictable, since they leave a pattern or a line of fire for a certain amount of time before getting hit like the Master Spark, it leaves a line of fire but its width is huge as an upside. Touhou beats Undertale in terms of complexity, Undertale beats Touhou for difficulty and Undertale beats Touhou for one good reason. *Marisa can be beaten. Asriel is immortal.* EDIT: im gonna just drop this in and say that this comment is super obsolete, and im cringing at it. go away lol

it's the other way around, marisa first appeared in touhou 02 Story of Eastern Wonderland which was rleased at 1997, 18 year before even undertale had been rleased. from then on out she is a staple character in the game so I think toby just been insbired by touhou it's not a bad thing, that's actuly great for touhou fans.

Asriel's attacks are pretty easy to avoid but very unpredictable, since *there are no patterns and the line of fire is shown for 1 second before disappearing* and Asriel's attacks are fast and hard to dodge like his Chaos Buster, which increases speed each interval, and his beam attacks which fires as soon as the warning markers are shown and his final attack in his God of Hyperdeath mode is near unavoidable and increases width and damage.
The Touhou character, Marisa Kirisame, on the other hand, obeys the spellcard rules, so there are very complex bullet hell patterns and get hit by a bullet and youre down. One downside tho is Marisa's attacks are predictable, since they leave a pattern or a line of fire for a certain amount of time before getting hit like the Master Spark, it leaves a line of fire but its width is huge as an upside.
Touhou beats Undertale in terms of complexity, Undertale beats Touhou for difficulty and Undertale beats Touhou for one good reason. *Marisa can be beaten. Asriel is immortal.*

it's the other way around, marisa first appeared in touhou 02 Story of Eastern Wonderland which was rleased at 1997, 18 year before even undertale had been rleased.
from then on out she is a staple character in the game so I think toby just been insbired by touhou it's not a bad thing, that's actuly great for touhou fans.
