  • Since the Glen Affric tartan specimen was rediscovered, analyzed and reproduced, we've all been curious to know what's next.
Will we discover other amazing tartans hidden in the glens of Scotland? Or are there beautiful tartans lying unseen in the archives of some museum that deserve to be put into production?
What new historical tartans can we expect to see?
Is there a market for reproductions of historic tartans?

    Erik: Glyndwr Welsh tartan

Yep. Looking forward to my Glenn Affric tartan coming in. Yet, I'd love to have it in PV for daily wear. It's so interesting, I think it's worthwhile to have one in wool and PV. If for no other reason, I could wear the tartan year round.

I'll bite. I would love to see historic style sewn tartan hose available in the older tartans. Examples are represented in the David Morier Culloden painting. I can get knit and woven hose anywhere, but if I want a period correct sewn construction I have to make it myself, and my sewing skills are rough at best.

...Yeah...I'm solidly in the PV camp, just for the washability and care aspect of things..in .Florida it's hard to care for wool ...

Maybe you could do a pre-order for PV and if enough of us order, you guys could pull the trigger on a bolt or two of PV

It would be awesome if somebody found an old burial site from the pics and found well preserved tartan trews That could be reproduced

+USAKiltsOfficial *Thanks for the archaeologist and manufacturer perspectives.* House of Edgar was commissioned for the Glen Affric sett; know not whether any more Tartans are waiting to be exhumed at grave sites.

What do you think of the Dalraida tartan found at Dunollie castle hanging as a bed curtain?
I love the colours personally, but i think the story is cool too.

I have a kilt in the Dalriada tartan. It looks GREAT.I wanted it because it allowed me to embrace in one tartan my Irish & Scot ancestry.

If there's a bunch of Wilson's number whatever tartans that are not claimed the legitimately Scottish last names that don't have their own tartan should be trying to claim one of those.

Or, they could be just put into the Universal Tartan category in USAKilts’ catalog, especially if they’re very popular; hint hint… 😉

...? how much does a tartan need to be "tweeked", to be considered different enough to rename ? ... is adding/subtracting one stripe enough...or a shade change, to make in PV... Mac Lean Duart Hunting, (two white stripes) and Irish Heritage PV( one white stripe) look very similar to the untrained eye...
