Hover tanks, from an A&A expansion 1990's Table Tactics, cost 5, can cross from coast to coast within the same sea zone, attack 2 defending 2 and moving 2...these don't neec transports unless crossing multiple sea zones. Our bombers always doubled as air transport for combat and no combat infantry use, one bomber carries one infantry.. a few options can be easily added for combat restrictions.

Nice tank rules, I've used normal and heavy, but not light armor...oops, we also had hover tanks,($5,2,2,2 and crossing water) yeah, straight from the "Table Tactics" New World Order Axis and Allies game variants, mid 1990's era, they also had a WW1 Axis and Allies "Central Powers expansion set with my favorites, trucks and cannons, trucks as a 2,2,2 for $5 and cannons a 1,4,1 for $5, machine guns 3,2,1 costing $5. These units all work great with the standard Classic Axis and Allies game. We added to the trucks abilities, they could noncombat 1 space and load any unit that conquered territories, then move one more, like refueling a tank so it wasn't stuck waiting for counter attack. All our extra units were technology developments, each player gets a free technology every turn, rolling 2 dice and consulting their own custom chart, no automatic upgrades either, except long range aircraft(drop tanks), instant long range air forces are too destabilizing ( technically is not in effect until the purchase phase, granting some adjustment time) $5 helicopters, $15 fighter bombers(aircraft carrier friendly) $4 escort destroyers 1,1,1 and 2 can be loaded on empty transports so as to move 2 instead of just 1. Our paratroopers simply used a standard bomber, we didn't think of your variant, not being able to attack without other land units supporting them, that would have saved us all a lot of grief. Our $5 helicopters initially were allowed to take land but...after my buddy flew from France and took my USA capitol, we had to neuter it down, it is a 1,1,3 and can't take land, but boy does it terrify navies...aka that's why the $4 escort destroyers.

Sorry for the late response, I always appreciate house rules, Larry Harris from day one has a always promoted them. There is something to learn here.

My paratroopers are dif from infantry. I use dif figures. They cost $5 def three attack at two, moves 1 space. Transport plane. Cost $8 no attack, def at one, moves six spaces and can hold two paratroopers.

Nice job! I have painted my axis and allies pieces too. I also have pieces painted to resemble Poland, Yugoslavia, Saim, Finland, Romania, Hungary, Spain (for alternate history) and Communist China. But yours are way better! :)

DTROY, We share a lot in common. I played two games with the Minitures units bought on eBay. Your artwork is beyond imagination. And your vid transition work with slack key guitar is a hallmark. My game partner at the Volcano Garrison found it confusing so one thing I did that helped was to to only have a couple of miniatures mixed in with game pieces so it was clear who owned the territory/zone.Aloha,Tef

Teflon 2017 Thank you for your positive commentary it really does motivate me to continue doing what I do. For me the Garrison is a passion that I love doing and one that I take serously.
Axis and Allies table top gaming is not only exciting but it allows me to play out key historically accurate moments of the second world war. I love the strategizing and tactical deployment that the game requires. trying to figure out what your opponent is trying to do and waiting for opportunities to capitalize on tactical errors is always fun. So, playing on a large game board with painted game pieces further enhances for me the gaming experience in general. I have to admit that at first playing with painted game pieces can be a little tricky but once you get used to the color schemes and to the unique shapes of the playing pieces it really does become second nature. The idea is to have fun and to enjoy the game to the fullest. I am glad you enjoyed my videos. I don't produce them that often but when I do I try to incorporate as much quality as I possibly can. Once again....thank you.

Tefflon...I would love to go the Grasshopper Invitational but my wife and I will be expecting our third child that is scheduled to be delivered for the third week of September. I have always wanted to visit Grasshopper but unfortunately there is always something that needs to get done around the house. I have known Grasshopper for a couple of years and keep in touch regularly. He has been a great and positive influence to my channel and to my gaming. I look forward to meeting him in person some time. If the invitational is held earlier or later I will definitely sign up. I would like to meet you and those others who also share a passion for the game.

Hello DTROY, great video. I like your ideas and came up with similar ideas for my A&A Anniversary edition (I don't play Global 1940 due to a lack of time for games that last more than 12 hours). I also prefer the 1941 starting point to 1940 or 1942 because the game then starts with two big bangs (Barbarossa and Pearl Harbor). What can I say about your rules but: »great minds think alike« 😁. Even though my House Rules for Armor and Paratroopers are slightly different from yours.
Due to the starting date of 1941 light armor is not really available, but USSR and China start with some light armor units and only China can replace one unit per turn if assisted by the US (I have a Lend Lease rule that allows the US to support UK, USSR and China and the UK to support USSR). While some other nations (UK, US and Germany) can buy mechanized infantry for 4 IPC (2/2/2), Russia can buy Katjusha rocket launchers for 4 IPC instead: move 2, attack 2 and defend 3! Light armor moves, attacks and defends with 2 - that's why Russia would not buy them. Heavy armor costs 7 IPC and only the US, Germany and Russia can buy them. Heavy armor moves 2, but attacks and defends with 4. My bonus for heavy armor: if you score a hit with »1«, you can remove an opponents land unit of your choice.
It took me quite a while to figure out, how to use paratroopers. I don't see people buying them if you need an extra transport vehicle for them. You just spend too many IPCs for the little extra punch. Therefore I separated paratroopers from air transports: Paratroopers cost 4 IPC, have their air transport capacity integrated and move 2. They defend with 2, attack with 2 and can be used for special attacks in the first round against bunkers and coastal batteries. While the US and Germany may build up to 3 paratrooper units, UK, Italy and Japan are restricted to 2 paratrooper units each. Russia and China have none. I totally agree with you that paratroopers can only be used in conjunction with other land units in an attack. And they may cross one seazone or one friendly territory before the attack, but no enemy territory.
My air transports (only UK, US, Germany and Japan) cost only 4 IPC and have a movement of up to 5 spaces. They can carry one infantry or paratrooper unit during Non-Combat-Movement. They may not be used for attacks and have no defense value either (just like transports), but they can also carry friendly units, so that Germany may move Italian infantry to Africa or US air transports UK infantry from Western USA to Australia.

Richard just keep in mind that metal sculpts do tend to scratch with more ease especially when they rub together in your storage bin or case. Also they some times tend to scratch the surface of your game map if the person moving the scult is not being careful. The turrets on tank also tend to bend easily. These are things you should know before buying these pieces....

How about to put historical persons (Generals) on the table, to give an extra dice boost or extra movement or other things to the fighting miniatures and army

Παναγιώτης Πηλιουρας ....excellent idea....I had actually flirted with the idea of introducing a field commander that would allow for an additional movement. Unfortunately I never got around to implementing it. But the concept is worth trying out. Where are you from?
