    I did the C6 shift swap within a month of getting my C5. It makes a surprising difference.

    I always appreciate the fact you show lower cost modifications that help people that do not have big budgets.

    Nice video, it's funny that the C6 owners usually opt for an MGW shifter when they want an upgrade & the C5 owners will "upgrade" to a C6 unit

    I installed an MGW shifter in my 2003 Corvette and did not like it. Sold it through the forum and installed a C6 shifter and it worked great,

    TMOD Customs. An awesome upgrade for the shifter is an upgraded stock lower box from TMOD.

    I'm about to manual swap my C5 plus restoring the Drivetrain. I'm happy for information you provide! A manual swap video would be great, but I think fo you guys in the USA it's not a common thing to do. But here where I live corvettes are real exotic cars, so just selling for another maybe salvaged c5 is not really a option fo me. Thank you for making all these videos! Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪

      Greetings back at you! I appreciate your comment and unfortunately you are correct - way too much work to obtain the necessary parts and perform the swap from auto to manual - but is can be done!! Cheers & Happy Holidays!

    Just upgraded my 2013 C6 GS shifter with 14k miles on it with a full billet 5% TMOD custom shifter. The stock shifter had already blown out the rubber bits in the lower box as I see on the one you have too. I'll never go back. The torque tube bushings were fine. Also my top shifter boot was torn in 2 and allowed a lot of noise to pass through. A new one made a big difference.

    My first Manual car 2003 z06 installed the mgw short shifter but not a fan of its stiffness , will be trying the c6 shifter

      IMO Give the MGW a couple of months - it grows on a lot of guys and does take a bit of getting that muscle memory dialed in. If you still don't like it - swap it (:-)

    Great video as usual. I really like your style and presentation.
    I have an MGW shifter in my C5. It is incredibly notchy. I would like to upgrade to a tick shifter. They are about 700 bucks. That’s too much for my budget
    The C6 shifter on eBay is $300. I would really like to get one if you think it’s worth it.
    So, do you think it’s worth it?

    What position is your clutch pedal from the floor when you can feel pull? Mine seems to be 90% out or up before i feel pull. It drives and shifts fine but wondering if I'll be needing a clutch soon

      @Toys4Life  3 місяці тому +3

      Mine are both pretty close to the floor. They're supposed to be self-adjusting if you have a stock clutch, but sometimes the mechanism doesn't work. Maybe you want to try pushing your foot to the floor and back a bunch of times quickly, maybe it'll adjust if it is the stock clutch.

    i have an MGW in my c5z and it’s too tight. i’ve adjusted it numerous times and even lengthened the shaft and it’s still just tight. was going to get the c6 one from TPS motorsports but nobody can tell me what’s done to it other than a short stick.

      Have you tried the viper mod. It should smoothen the shifts. I have the mgw and it’s tight but good. Also in a c5z

    • @35057
      @35057 3 місяці тому

      @ yes. Anti venom. It only affects side to side detents. For and aft is still tight. I did two washers was just right IIRC

    I have a 2003 Z06 with 16k miles and don’t like that the throw is enormous. Is my Z06 shifter different from a base model C5? You said in this video that you shortened your C5 shifter by 1 1/2”, that seems like a lot and would increase the shifting effort. In an older video I thought you shortened your shifter by 3/4”.
    What made you change to the C6? And did you say the Z06 C5 is different than the non Z06 C5? By the way, I removed my shifter just to see how it worked and had one Hell of a time removing the “Demon” key. It was stuck on there really tight. Do you have a website or email so I could contact you?

      Your C5 ZO6 shifter handle is the same as the regular c5s, you're going to need something shorter or aftermarket if you don't like that long throw.

      I bought the same one and installed it when I did my clutch just this weekend and it’s not bad at all but it doesn’t utilize the alignment pin that the stock one uses. But drove it once and I like it
