You did it so Well that 6 hours after I heard it I still have the melody (especialy the bass line) in my head. A really obsessing theme, the way you made it.
Being a non musician this is probably a rubbish thought but, for me, Zappa's compositions are so good that it gives other musicians lots of scope to change things around and produce an entirely different vibe. You've done it here and The Gotan Project managed it too. Also demonstrates Frank's remarkable melodic and rhythmic sensibilities. Keep up the great works.
Not a rubbish thought at all! And it's a general truth in music, not just Frank's material: if the material is good, it can be re-interpreted in all sorts of ways and still work. Also, that Gotan Project version of this song was very much the direction we started with...I love their take on it.
Great sound mix, Conrad! And it's Captain Beefheart on keys...lol (Kevin Bents), with a helluva voice. He was to tour with Dweezil on the Hot Rats Tour until Covid screwed things up. Is Kevin with you on the 2023 tour? Are you able to supply us the 2023 lineup?
Thanks, man! Kevin had too many gig conflicts to do the spring tour, but we've got Jonathan Sindelman filling in. He's been working for 20+ years with Mike Keneeally, the Zappa family, and a whole bunch of other folks in that realm, so I think he'll do just fine lol.
@@TheFuriousBongos - You folks hire nothing but the best musicians, it seems. Mike Keneealy keeps up with Stave Vai, I saw him twice with Steve (the Ultra Zone tour), and the year following. Is your tour bus still painted-up with Frank Zappa's face on the front? I need to get a few pictures of that beast!
@@JamminClemmons if you mean our profile picture, that's actually a party bus owned by the venue we play in Chicago called Reggies. They have a few of 'em: www.reggieslive.com/photos/bus-rides/
270 views?! 11 likes?! What the hell is wrong with people??? Guys you are amazing! Thanks a great lot for keeping Frank's legacy atop!

We also have a new second female singer to back up Lo Marie: Willow Dougherty. Otherwise, it's the same crew!
@@TheFuriousBongos - Great!
Thanks for responding.
