    I would take DeJean in a minute. Imagine the diversity of the backfield with both Brian Branch and DeJean moving to different spots for different playcalls, throwing the OCs off.

    I fell in love with Dejean watching his stuff the other day. Dude is so smart on the field watching the QB unlike many players i’ve seen. He’s insanely athletic and talented i’d be thrilled with picking him.

    I mean he reminds me so much of a branch/harris/robinson guy. He doesn’t strike me as an outside corner. Hes got a lot of tools he CAN do, but outside of tackling and instincts in zone coverage I don’t see a man cover corner

    I did not know much about this guy, but I am still not sold on him being a CB that the Lions should move up for. I think I would still prefer McKinstry or Quinyon Mitchell ahead of him.
    Last note, I agree with Erik about the Edge players. None of them are clear top ten players. Personally, I don’t think any of them are clear first round prospects.

    Cooper is Absolutely a tradeup target. It's not just his size and athletic testing (elite stuff). Its not just his versatility ir his ball skills (elite stuff). Its not just his tackling (best among dbs this year).
    But its also his ability to play special teams. He was the best returner in the nation last year. And that might be more important than ever given the new kickoff rule.
    I think if he falls past 23, the Lions will trade up to 24 to get him.

    Hell no at #1 pick. We need top elite, man to man, cover corner or defensive end. Cooper may be great field hawk at other cover schemes & have unique talents and unlimited potential, but is not tailored and bred for covering elite speedy NFL receivers which was Lion’s Achilles heel last season. We need to trade up and get an elite corner bred for that role. If by some chance Holmes could manipulate getting him with #2 pick, I’d be in all day, but highly doubt that happens.

    My one worry is when I see and hear “he’s got versatility, can do different things, can kick inside, punt returns” that’s great and all but can he shut down an elite reciever. Watching film he’s asked to do that very little times, his change of direction isn’t good. he doesn’t look like he’d be able to stay with NFL starting receivers. It’s a different game.

    • @PrideofDetroit

      I’d say they don’t “need” Moseley if they were adding DeJean. They have plenty of veteran CBs to help bring him along and allow him to challenge Robertson for that CB2 spot

    • @thomaswatkins3686
      @thomaswatkins3686 2 місяці тому

      Why do people do this?
      They have Hutchinson, Houston and Davenport. All 9 sack players at least once. They used a 2nd on paschal.
      So let me guess. There’s some other reason why they STILL need a DE, like “YoU WIn At ThE LinE of SkrImagE!”
      We can do this all day to DQ positions a team could and could not take.
      But common sense says they are never getting home on 30 passing snaps a game. And neatly all the guys they have now, short of Branch, are guys this fanbase say will be fine-as long as they have a better pass rush.
      I’m sorry, that’s a stupid method and terrible way to built a team.

    I'm sorry. When I watch DeJean I see "good" not "great". I think he will be over-drafted. I just don't think he's THAT explosive to go in the top 3/4 of round 1. I would much rather stay at 29 and take Mikey Sainristil. It's the same way I felt when I would watch Trevon Walker a couple years ago. I still have no idea what the Jags could have seen on tape that made them choose him over Hutchinson.

      He (Walker) has and had better scheme versatility. Hutchinson is a 43 DE.
      It’s funny so many people don’t understand it yet.
      All this whining about “HeLp AiDUn!” misses the fact this scheme doesn’t require another elite pass rusher on the right. The right is your edge setting area. You want a guy who can tackle and stop the run. Rush ability is a bonus.
      They want that because Hutchinson is only effective as a rusher as a LDE and only some times.
      Walker can be moved all over the DL and does. It doesn’t add gawdy stats, but the Jags have made a fine impact with him.
      Not seeing why you still don’t get that.

    • @lucasross4041
      @lucasross4041 2 місяці тому +1

      Glenn moved Hutchinson all over the line. Yes- mostly he played LDE as you stated. Is he as versatile as Walker? I think he is- they just want him rushing the passer as as you mentioned that's usually LDE

      I think the Lions fit schemes with players. If they have a good player they will figure it out. Besides even the heaviest Man or Zone defenses still use the other. More importantly, if he falls to 29, I think the league sees him as a Safety. If we take him to be a safety then my biggest issue would be that I still want Oline and a Corner and hopefully a sleeper edge player.

      The Lions are running a 43, which means the responsibility of the RDE is more run heavy and outside containment.
      That’s Davenport and Paschal
      Yet all this community whines about is getting another DE opposite Hutchinson who will allow him to be more effective on the 15 or so snaps a game the team rushes the passer.

    I wouldnt hate having him but it appears he is similar to branch in that theyre slot corners or rooming safeties more than theyre outside corners...
    I think we need to move io and grab Arnold or Mitchell, whomever Brad loves best because it isnt often that any draft CB1 falls out of the top 10 and doesnt require an extra 1st to trade up and grab... lets go get our CB1 between 12-16

    • @PrideofDetroit
      @PrideofDetroit  2 місяці тому

      I think that’s what separates him from Branch for me. BB is a true nickel/safety type of player with not much outside CB experience but DeJean exclusively played outside and was very good out there. So I don’t think it’s as redundant as some think
