From the GeoCollaborate StormCenter Communications SISE Support Center this is the 1130PM ET update on Hurricane Milton. This video is provided to support the movement of fleet utility vehicles and sharing of trusted information across public and private sectors to speed situational awareness, response and recovery.
KEY MESSAGES: HURRICANE MILTON (MADE LANDFALL AT 8:30PM ET NEAR SIESTA KEY, FL)
1. A large area of life-threatening storm surge is occurring along
portions of the west-central coast of the Florida Peninsula and
southwest Florida. Near the coast, the surge will be accompanied
by damaging waves. Water levels will remain elevated into Thursday
morning.
2. Damaging and life-threatening hurricane-force winds, especially
in gusts, will spread inland across portions of the central Florida
Peninsula to the Florida east coast within the Hurricane Warning
area overnight and early Thursday. Residents should be prepared to
take shelter in an interior room and away from windows.
3. Heavy rainfall across the Florida Peninsula through Thursday
continues to bring the risk of catastrophic and life-threatening
flash and urban flooding along with moderate to major river
flooding, especially in areas where coastal and inland flooding
combine to increase the overall flood threat.

Dave, I like how are you specify 1,500,000 meters rather than people being without power. Those meters usually provide power for a family or a business, etc. Very seldom does 1 m provide power for one person. So 1,500,000 electrical meters more likely means 5 million people or more in the dark.

To the power company, one meter, is one house or business, and one person who pays the bill.The Billpayer is the only living person worthy of consideration. That person is the one whose power is being restored, so keep that person happy at all costs.

I’m an Independent Adjuster and have been in Tampa since Friday. Currently riding it out in Orlando until we can get back into St. Petersburg.
This is hard to fathom.

Our town is completely under water and we are in an RV because house got water in it we might die it has NEVER BEEN LIKE THIS ❤

@@solarwind907 thank you my best is prayer and I did call 911 of course no one can help right now. There's about a ft of water in my home every except 911 said go in house but the motor home has no water in it as we put it up three feet high. My only regret I didn't bungee the RV if water gets bad enough then it could float but it's a very heavy RV around 7000 pounds 1975 Chinook. I'm scared but we must give it what we have and have God do the rest we can't out here before the water because we could not walk and carry things in the water and darkness.

Definitely a direct hit on Tampa and right up the I4 Corridor with a massive *"air space"* upon the back half exactly as initial model runs predicted only shocker remains missing the land fall by 6 hours. Think I would call this *"mega pond-ing"* as when water falls in Florida simply piles straight up upon itself but roads are near bare on the South side of this there is no effective tide on the East side of Florida not so West side so as 6 AM rolls in should "normalize" but yes Saint Mary's River flows due North parallel to the Atlantic Ocean will build up as well absolutely. No problems with Lake Okeechobee which was looking bad to me when this began but other than some incredible Tornado shots pretty much exactly as initial runs predicted except the timing. Great commentary in pretty much real time as Hurricanes go but besides some dramatic tornado hits by Florida standards anyways this was not catastrophic at all even watched a bunch of people on the GOM out walking about just prior to landfall West of Tampa so very surprising storm leaving a huge blob of rain in the center of the State that will get worked off starting this AM through the weekend. About 6-8 million people live along this "Squall Line" is the estimate but an incredible number and amount did evacuate as was the right thing to do as per Authorities orders also a good order this "not by Florida standards a crisis storm" will have a USA equity market impact this morning AM 930 EST New York big time already has actually as nowhere near the property devastation as was being predicted given the timing of landfall being almost too perfectly off at a near 6 hours so that will have big time blowback given all that came with that specific miss and being a Cat 5 at one point clearly. Force 13 coverage on UA-cam was absolutely hilarious so recommend looking at that big time. Look forward to your next weather reporting here! 😊😊
