I love Jay's relationship with each of his grandkids and manny He treats Haley and Manny like the kids he already had And treats Alex, Luke, and Lily like the kids he wished he had
I'd argue that Jay is the most unproblematic character WITHIN the time frame of the show, because the whole show is him going through his redemption arc since he's screwed up lots before compared to the other characters who were still growing and making a lot of mistakes.
@@dunkyourdonuts2282gloria also doesn't have much problems herself, her problem mostly because she feel embarrassing of her mistake and most of it kinda funny :)))
Ed O' Neill is rare in that he played an iconic character on TV TWICE.....Him, Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, Andy Griffith, Carol O'Connor, Bea Arthur, Jack Klugman Ed is in rare company.
Before watching the show I couldn't believe Jay was the character I root for the most. I'm sure if we were in the time he was married to Dede it'd be different but he is such a good grandpa to his grandkids even despite his hard exterior. He can still be an asshole but he seems to have a lot of growth even in the span of the first few seasons, meanwhile everyone is an asshole to their families (looking at early seasons Phil towards Claire) In this episode and the episode with manny going to disneyland (with his dad) he was outwardly aloof at first but did amazing when it was needed the most (comforting manny about his dad, this scene and him eventually dancing with lily on stage).
Idc how silly it is I'll always try an accommodate the lil ppls. They small for a lil bit of time I want them to know tt would embrass myself a hundred times over if it meant they were happy and comfortable.
@@mikhailthegreatestdragon3627 and maybe they didnt want to make her like a mean character as an adult. They want to make it clear that Cam and Mitch raised her properly. She was just a mean kid by virtue of genetics. But a loving home still made a nice adult.
She was 11/12 by the end of the show. The writers really didn’t know what to do with her that wouldn’t be a repeat of the other kids. I loved her dynamic with her dads, Gloria, Claire and Luke oh and Alex and Haley too and wish they had explored it further as she was getting older.

As someone who didn't have a dad. There are plenty of people who can take on those roles. She had Claire, Sophia, Alex, and so many other "moms." I had my grandpa, uncles, and cousins. A "traditional" home with a mom and dad isn't always ideal.
"come dance with me grandpa" is so innocent (I love lilly so much)
Didn't take a second to pull out the 50 bucks lol.
I love Jay's relationship with each of his grandkids and manny
He treats Haley and Manny like the kids he already had
And treats Alex, Luke, and Lily like the kids he wished he had
I'd correct this slightly. He treats Haley and Manny like he WISHES he treated the kids he had

i love how jay tries (and fails) to bribe lily with $50, in the same way that he did with manny in the pilot episode.
Jay was an absent dad for mitch and claire but im so happy to see gloria has changed jay for the better. He's a good dad and a great grandpa.
Jay's character development 📈📈
I love these sincere and heartwarming scenes! Especially with two characters who rarely interact.
Ending by dancing with her anyway though❤️
The most granpa thing to do is spoiling their grankid.
Never watched the whole show but kinda funny Jay served in nam and now has a Vietnamese granddaughter lol
True. When i watched the show i was thinking about that
$50 is his going rate😄
Nice that you noticed it! 😁
One of Jay's a.k.a. Ed's finest Modern Family moments! 🫠
Best part is, IRL mitch showed up to lily's school play even after the show endeq😭❤️
She was so little. ❤
Jay....dance with your granddaughter!❤️
Alll that she, Lily needs
the next scene is him onstage dancing with her

Why didn't you show the next take when Jay does dance with Lily ? So sweet
I love this reminds me of my grandpa, he would have been like "Let's go dance!"
I like lily's character she's so much fun on the show
Jay really is a good Dad & Granddad.
Al became a better dad to his second family
How to get jay to pull out 50 really quick
He may be a tough guy, but for his granddaughter, he jumps on stage and dances ballet with her. That's family. ✌
I can't believe this is Al Bundy
That's what a great actor can do. Be two completely different people.
I'm sorry hold up that's al Bundy 😮
If Jay danced with Lilly that should have been the best moment in the entire sitcom history
And he did 🥹

lily was so freaking cute as a kid😭😭🩷
Lily's so cute ❤
This cast i want as my family 😊
Lily is such an Amazing actress when she was little. But she cant seem to act when she became a teen. Assuming she was a teen in the last season.
She was, and it isn't her fault, she just didn't have any good material to work with.
