This series was super fun & cool. Dee & Jay, thank you for sharing all of this great content for this sailing. It was also great seeing how the new back to back process works now. Now I cannot wait to see the other part, the Southern Caribbean cruise vlogs soon. ♥️
Thanks for the B2B process. We'll be doing our first on the Horizon in September and was curious how it'll all work out. Seemed like it took longer than past but I guess that's expected with new process.
Soooo sad to see a cruise end BUT you guys are soooo lucky to get to turn right around and start a whole new adventure and with a different itinerary - SO COOL!!! Can't wait to watch & see what stuff & things you get in to - thanks!
I miss the old school sailing going back-to-back you would get out of your room and go get breakfast they would completely clean your room go back in the cabin and lay down and watch TV and listen to all the announcements and all the people gripe of getting off that's when the extra bottle of alcohol in your cabin would be wonderful because you can mix yourself a couple of drinks and watch all the sad people get off but that was in 2019 and what we did was so fun we actually did back-to-back-to-back on Carnival Breeze and at that time it did Eastern Tribune Western Caribbean and then did Carnival Journeys to the Southern Caribbean that was I believe the best truths I've ever been on open sailing since I've been two years old when I put on pretty much every Cruise Line and have diamond on couple Cruise Line!
Thank you for such amazing videos. Hubby and I were married in 1991 and went on several cruises on “The Big Red Boat”, the official Disney cruise ship before they started their own ships, Carnival, Celebrity and the first sailing I believe of the Disney Magic in October 1999 while pregnant with our only “baby” who will graduate college next year. I’ve had several health issues the past few years, but really hope to be well enough to cruise after our daughter graduates and your videos keep me inspired and motivated in all of my PT. Thanks!!!!
I am so glad to be able to watch your cruise vlogs again! I want the pictures of who ordered what next to your food photos back, please! Am I the only one?
You guys are awesome!!!!! Thank you for getting me so excited to go on the horizon in October. I just started subscribing and look forward to more videos.
question? i seen where you had to walk off the ship and re-enter, did you leave your luggage on the ship? i didn't see anyone with luggage during the process of your B2B? just asking. Love your videos keep it up.
I am cruising for the first time ever on the Ecstasy in February. Thank you so much for doing these videos so I know what to expect. I do have one silly question. In the ports of call, when you shop do you need to bring other currency with you in order to shop? We are going to Princess Cays and Nassau. Thank you in advance. You guys have me ready to go ahead and book another cruise already.
Hi guys, Thank you for all the helpful hints and information. We have 2 questions: You mentioned you like to only go to the beach so you took a “day pass”We will be taking the Southern Carribbean cruise on the Horizon in August, and we also only like to go to the beaches instead of the excursions. What is your recommendation? Also is there any testing going on when getting back on the ship from the shore excursions? ( Aruba, Curaçao, LaRomana?) Thank you
I guess it depends on which ports specifically you are looking at. We have a video series that we call “port guides“ that has about 20 episodes, each one focusing specifically on a port, and we do have one for Aruba, one for Curaçao, where we talk about our favorite specific excursions, things to do that are outside the realm of organized excursions, and all that, so that might be helpful. As for testing, as of right now, there is none required at all for vaccinated passengers, and the only reason we had to take one is because of the back to back specifically.
That seems like a lot of unnecessary work for a B2B. Why can't they just have you wait in one of the closed restaurants or bars? We are planning on doing our first B2B this year and this info was interesting. 🐸
Even in the past, they've been required to clear the ship completely for a "zero count" I believe is the phrase I've heard tossed around. Typically, B2B cruisers could wander around and laze about, doing whatever we please, until all other guests got off, then gather and march off together, show a quick passport, and boom, you're back on. Slight more complicated in these Coronial Times, hah... :P
We did that on our Carnival Victory cruise in 2018, ha ha... ate buffet dinner every single night, just because we wanted to do something different. I did pop through and check the dinner buffet a couple of times in this Horizon cruise as well though, just to see what they had!! :D
It's a lot of hassle in the name of safety, it's true... as much as we don't like testing, we'll do what we need to so we can try to be as careful as we can!! :P
Good Morning, Thank you very much for sharing the back-to- back process with us. You had a few stressful minutes waiting for Jay’s test results. Always appreciate your honesty opinions and helpful information. Thank you for sharing all your cruising with us. Rock on!
How did you get on with testing between cruises please? Someone has told us it is $150 each We are on a Back-Back in a couple of weeks and have been told everyone will need a test between cruises.
If you're doing a back-to-back cruise on the same ship, the cruise line usually provides the testing free of charge, if they deem testing necessary. Many times now, they don't test in between cruises, as it's up to the discretion of the crew to decide if they feel it's needed.
The way it typically works is, if you're changing cabins, you pack your luggage and leave it in your cabin, and the stewards will get your things to your new cabin. We've heard that if you leave your things on hangers, they're okay with that, but I'd ask the steward personally on that one!! :D
You get a new card, regardless of whether you have the same cabin or a different cabin, yes. They re-key the locks every week I guess. And the only thing that we carried off was our passport, nothing else was required.
New here and enjoying the channel!!! Is it more cost effective to pay gratuities beforehand or at the end of the trip? How do you guys do it? Thanks ^_^
We always let the gratuities roll onto our onboard statement, then if we have any onboard credit, that helps offset them, ha ha... I know a lot of folks like to pay them up front so they can forget about them, but we don't. :P
Question.. is there a cost for the Covid testing at the terminal? I’m from Canada and just wondered??? I can’t wait fir the borders to be fully opened and get back on Carnival.. we are platinum status.
For the rapid antigen testing, no… But I believe for Canada, you would require a PCR test and that would probably be at your own expense. They offer the service at the terminal, but I don’t believe that it was for no charge.
@@parodeejay great video! I am from Canada too, wondering how long it will take for a PCR test at the terminal and cost? Hope Canada will change the rule soon to accept antigen test. Thanks.
We don’t post every single day, ha ha… Plus, since we just wrapped the first leg we figured we would take a couple days off before we start the second. The southern loop should start Monday!! :P
Trying to understand why they didn't do your Covid tests onboard the evening before or even in the morning so you wouldn't have to go off the ship for that part? Or was this something not managed by Carnival but was by TSA/Immigration?
I’m not sure, because on Royal they had staff on board that was able to administer the tests. But I believe the protocol was put in place by the CDC about having to test if you have been out of the country 14 days prior to a cruise, so maybe that’s why they had us do it ashore. Hmm.
@@parodeejay I'm really interested in this because we're doing a b2b on the Celebrity Apex in April 22. Of course this may be a thing of the past by then, but since I have mobility issues, the more I don't have to keep getting up and down, the better. Thanks for all of the info and the vlogs. You guys crack me up! I'm living vicariously through the both of you until we can get onboard again! Keep up the great work!
We've noticed some menu changes like side items for certain dishes, plus things like no more shrimp with the lobster tails on formal night, one less dessert option each night, no more port of call selections... but there have been a few new dishes added, which is always appreciated. We've eaten in the MDR every night except for one, and haven't had a bad meal yet. Couple of things overcooked, but not to the point of being "bad" or needing to be sent back. I'd say our experience is pretty similar to the "old days" ha ha...
@@parodeejay great! Thanks. We usually only eat in the MDR also. Will be on the Horizon next month. Love your vlogs. Maybe we should order steaks medium rare for a medium. Haha!

Kind of ruins the Back to Back if they do not let you right back on the ship after debark. Still awesome to get a 2nd cruise while everyone else is going home though.
Current protocols state that anyone arriving to board a ship who has been out of the country within the past 14 days is required to test. So that means all back-to-back cruises, regardless of vaccine status. But most cruisers wouldn’t need to test.
@@parodeejay thank you for the clarification.... Really Looking forward to your Mardi Gras videos, wife and i are planning our dinners while we watch your videos, if i am not working we are planning on putting your livestreams on the Big Screen, and watch...
They’ve always done that. Even in the pre-Coronial times, you had to walk off the ship, go through immigration back into the US, and then get processed back onto the ship, but it used to be a super quick process. This was just a little longer because of the extra testing protocol.
One of the many reasons I enjoy your vlogs is the positive attitude you always have along with the extensive information you have keep it up
