Sting wasn’t a little guy at 250 pounds. But he wasn’t Ultimate Warrior size. “They won’t be intimidated” by the larger team. Pro wrestling seems like you should have an impressive physique or be impressively huge. Not the average person skinny or fat. They mention physique. I feel like that’s part of the announcer’s psychology.
I still remember when Avalanche was called Earthquake. I was amazed by how many WWE star's crossed over to WCW. I remember wondering how the WWE managed to stay in business during that time period, when it lost half it's roster. WCW should have, by rights, lasted a lot longer than it did, due to the fact that it just had a better roster.
@@bink I must admit, some of their story lines were farcical. Some of their matches were very poorly done. That said, they still had a much better roster than the WWF for the time. I still don't fully understand how WWF managed to stay afloat after losing half it's top talent.
Well, 6 if you add Ric Flair and don't forget the commentators Bobby Heenan who is also a WWF guy and Tony Schiavone who also worked in the WWF during 1989 to 1990

Ahhh man what a classic. When wwe new Gen was stinking up the joint and DubCeeDubya was stealing all the talent and re living the Golden Era! Oooooh Yeah!! 💪🏻😎

Both Ray (Bubba) and John (Avalanche) got screwed in WCW. These guys were huge in WWF. I really hated what they did with Ray calling him Big Bubba. A hillbilly name. He was such a good character in WWF as the Big Boss Man. I know he could not use his name here, but they could have done something better. He was a nobody in WCW. Even when he left for WWE and returned, he got his character back and it was so much better. WWE screwed John when he came back.
He was Big Bubba in the Jim Crockett promotion the NWA when he was with Jim Cornette and the Midnight Express before he was the Big Bossman in WWF in 1988.
These old school wrestlers were about the fans. I would say the worst was Hogan. He never high fived any of the fans. He just walked right by them. He only talked to the crowd as if he only heard voices, not saw the people. Hogan was not a fan guy at all. Not like Sting and Savage. Just like 98% of the wrestlers today. They don't even acknowledge the people. Just the crowd.
Clearly you haven't watched wrestling long, Hogan high five fans a lot. In fact look, at his entrance at Wrestlemania 3 against Andre. He was slapping hands with fans. Hogan also had a reputation for always signing autographs.

That was trend in WCW back then, copying the WWF gimmicks similar possible without running into lawsuits. Predictably the Avalanche gimmick didn't last long as the WWF sued WCW for the copyright gimmick.
