You should have broken your journey at the tiny hamlet of Avoncliff and called in at the Cross Guns for a bowl of Venison Casserole and a half-pint of Honey's Cider, which is produced just up the Cam Valley in Midford! The platform at Avoncliff is so short that only the first door on a three coach Thames Turbo train will open when stopping there! Well worth a quick visit if you don't know the area.
Bath is a beautiful and historic city
