    Can't say enough nice stuff about legends suspension , I accidentally rode up a dividing wall on a highway in Corpus Christi , Tx in front of a state trooper. He watched in horror as the wall began to get taller , I twitched my handlebar to the left and rode right off and away , on stock suspension that might have been a different ending, true story

    I think it might be a good idea if you made a non reservoir shock that offered both compression and rebound adjustment. Not every bagger owner needs a shock with a remote reservoir or piggyback shocks.

    Thanks I run the 12 inch legend Revo A I would like to change to the 13 inch to give a little more ground clearance and cornering as I’m cornering harder and scraping my floorboards and I run stock styles exhaust with S&S slip Ons. Would there be no problem with that? Thanks again.

      Absolutely not, one of the great things about the Revo and Revo-A is there can be altered in several ways.
      We offer length conversion under "support" on our website www.legendsuspensions.com or you can email customer service at service@legendsuspensions.com. We also offer a chat feature as well, both ways will connect you with a customer service tech who can help you out no problem.

    So basically there is no risk to set the Revo A at “1” and not having rebound at all? Some people were saying to me it works like pogo stick then and feels like there is no rebound or broken shock. I don’t believe that, because I personally set it at “1” and really, really like the ride. I’m wondering how would you rate the stock touring front fork is set in your terms of rebound setting? Thank you for amazing product!

    • @LegendSuspensions

      Hello,
      Good questions, when the suspension sag is set correctly for your weight range you are telling the shocks to use all of its travel and prevent bottoming out. Some road conditions or areas may require someone to run less than 1" of suspension sag as bigger bumps may need to be tuned out compared to someone who lives in an area like Florida where the roads are flat and smooth.
      Once this is set the rebound preference is the rider's choice depending on how they want the bike to ride. setting 1 on the rebound might not be ideal for everyone as the lower the rebound setting the faster the shock will rebound, so if you live in a very bumpy area and hit bumps constantly, then your rebound is fast it can accentuate the bumps, and give a bouncy ride and you may want to run a higher number (slower rebound) to tune this feel out.
      On the flip side if your weight range requires a lot of preload to reach your sag range this will cause more stored spring tension during compression and the slower rebound is required more often, otherwise you get a tight spring with a lot of tension and the fast rebound and you could end up with a bouncy ride as well.
      It is important to ride all the settings and see how they all work for the rider. In the end, if you enjoy the ride and it feels the best to you, then setting 1 is just fine as long as you are happy and it is not causing you issues.
      On your second question as to a comparison guess on factory front suspension rebound. OEM front suspension is super soft on compression and tends to blow right through bumps and the rebound is super fast as well.
      If setting 1 on the back of our shock was a 1 TO 1 meaning as fast as it compresses it rebounds at that same speed, call it equal or opposite reaction, stock OE front suspension would be like setting .50 about half of setting 1 in our opinion.

      The Revo, Revo-A or Revo-ARC Piggyback are all great options and often come down to what kind of adjustment features someone is looking for. The Revo is a great standard replacement and the rebound is always on setting 3 (which is the most popular setting)
      The Revo-A offer a little more adjustment giving you 6 rebound settings and more tuning.
      The Revo-ARC allows for compression and rebound adjustment, as well as a different internal design, an 1/2" additional suspension travel.

    Let's say I set up my suspension correctly for 50kg me, if I then add a 100kg pillion for a road trip, should I just increase preload and nothing else?

    • @LegendSuspensions
      @LegendSuspensions  2 роки тому +2

      Mr.Midnight, Anytime your suspension sag is set for a specific weight and you alter it with more or less weight, this will change how much suspension sag you have and it is recommended that you double check the sag. To answer your question, If you like the settings where you are and the sag is set for you. Then you add weight, increasing the preload to account for the added weight to get you back to the correct sag and leaving the settings where they are will make the bike feel the exact same as it was before you added the weight.

      Hello, thank you for your business. This sounds like a suspension sag adjustment needs to be made as well as a rebound adjustment. We have a video specifically on setting the suspension sag on the Revo-A. We recommend you view this and reach out to our Customer Service Dept Via our instant chat or service@legendsuspensions.com if you need any further assistance.
      There are also many other things to check in this case as well.
      Neck bearings
      Tire pressure
      Tire balance and so on.
      If you have the suspension sag correctly set for your weight range and shock length, try a number or two higher on the rebound dials, if this does not correct the issue, we recommend you get the bike in for an inspection with your local shop or dealership.
      You will also want to ensure the shocks are installed correctly without the Large OEM Flat washers as this will impact the ride quality greatly.

      @@LegendSuspensions THANKS FOR YOUR QUICK REPLY...MUCH APPRECIATED. I BELIEVE I FOUND THE PROBLEM. I PURCHASED THEM FROM RICKRAK IN MARCH DURING BIKE WEEK. THEY INSTALLED THEM AND AS SOON AS I GOT ON THE INTERSTATE THE WOBBLE WAS SO BAD I COULDNT KEEP UP WITH MY BUDDY ON INTERSTATE FOR FEAR OF LOSING THE BIKE FROM UNDERNEATH ME. SO I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO SEE SHANE AT DESTINATION DAYTONA AND THEY DISCOVERED THE GUYS AT THE DAYTONA TRACK COMPLETELY INSTALLED THEM WRONG. SHANE'S CREW GOT ME GOING BUT WHILE HEADING HOME IT STILL WASNT RIGHT WITH IT STILL BEING SOMEWHAT SQUIRRELY. I FINALLY GOT THE BIKE OFF THE GROUND AND MEASURED THE THREADS FROM ONE TO THE OTHER AND IT WAS A DIFFERENCE OF 1/2". JUST DOING THAT TOOK ABOUT 90% OF THE SWAYING AWAY. THANKS!

    • @LegendSuspensions
      @LegendSuspensions  Рік тому +2

      We are truly sorry to hear about the troubles, that is not the first impression we hope for. It is 100% imperative to ensure the shocks are mounted correctly and the sag set for you and your riding style, you were spot on to make sure both shocks have the same tension on those springs. it is always best to sit on the bike with your riding gear on and have someone measure from the center of the top shock bolt to the center of the bottom shock bolt and for a 13" shock you want it to measure 12", this would mean you have 1" of suspension sag. or if you have 12" shocks you want them to measure 11.5" this would mean you have 1/2" sag.
      12" or 11.5" would be with you sitting on the bike with your gear on. We do offer install guides on our website under the products tab, and we have a UA-cam video of suspension sag if you would like to do anymore double checking. We are glad they are riding better for you know, but it is good to ensure they are optimized for you.

    • @LegendSuspensions
      @LegendSuspensions  2 роки тому

      We recommend you double check to ensure your sag is set correctly for your shock length, then in terms of rebound, everyone rides and feels a little different so we suggest making wild changes to the suspensions. Go far one way and ride the bike, then far the other way on the adjustment. This will show you what is actually changing, then you can work your way back from there to eliminate the settings that you do not prefer and this will narrow down the perfect setting for you. There is not a one size fits all recommendation, a good starting point would be to turn it clockwise till is stocks and back it off 4 clicks on both shocks. This tends to be a good happy medium.

    • @LegendSuspensions
      @LegendSuspensions  2 роки тому +2

      Hey there, thanks for reaching out. The first thing we recommend is setting your sag. Once the shocks have been mounted properly, the next step is to ensure you set your sag correctly. This step is extremely important to ensure you get the best ride and performance out of your shocks. Our sag adjustment procedure will also ensure you are getting the most travel out of your shocks, while also leaving clearance on the top side of the stroke to allow for "top out". If your sag is not set correctly, you are going to either bottom the shocks out, or feel as though the shocks are way too stiff. Proper sag adjustment ensures you are riding within the "sweet spot" of the travel range for the optimal ride quality.
      For shock models that include rebound adjustment, think of the sag adjustment as your "macro" adjustment, and the rebound and/or compression adjustments as a "micro" or fine tuning adjustments. Always get your sag set first, and then fine tune the ride with your rebound adjustment and/or compression adjustments.

    Even when the shocks are done appropriately is it fair to say when going over a deep or a low spot you will bottom out and cause discomfort. Or is there a way to avoid the hard hit of bottoming out by either increasing the rebound or tightening the spring dumping. I have my 13 " Revo A's on 2 with the 12 " center to center.

    I placed the golden color shock absorber on my 2016 ultra limited cvo. It was done by HD dealer in Riverside, CA. Out more than 20 motorcycles I have owned these shock absorbers are literally the worst. I asked HD dealer to upgrade to the best absorbers they have but they declined on the basis that they would loose money. I am very disappointed with those shock absorbers. I paid a total of more than $1,250, and I got the worst shock absorbers. Did they use the wrong type?

    So older softail, legends shocks blocks the tranny drain plug.. pull a shock to change oil. Or pump out top hole. Which gets part of oil. Please redesign !

    • @LegendSuspensions
      @LegendSuspensions  2 роки тому +1

      Don, We recommend vacuuming it out, this is the practice or Harley dealerships and is a perfectly acceptable way to change the oil.
      You can also make a hose extension with a plug that screws into your drain plug so when it is time to change the oil you pull the hose down and remove the plug to drain the oil without removing the shock.
      If we had a way to make the bike ride great and safe without the materials we used, we would sure do that.
